Learning French with songs - Stromae Papaoutai [Guide to French pronunciation]

Learning French with songs is my favorite way to enhance speaking and listening skills, to learn new vocabulary, and to work on French pronunciation. Today we'll be learning French with Stromae - Papaoutai.
In my video series Learning French with songs, I explain French pronunciation rules. I teach the position of the mouth, tongue, and jaw required to produce each French sound. After practicing with me, you'll feel more confident in speaking French. It will be easier for you to understand fast native speech in movies and real life!

Je ne sais pas pourquoi KZbin m’a recommandé vos vidéos, le français est ma langue maternelle, mais votre prononciation est parfaite. L’accent est incroyablement juste. On retrouve même quelques intonations française dans certaines phrases en anglais. Vous passeriez aisément pour une gauloise en France.

Hi Anastasia. Are you Russian? You have a Slavic accent when you speak English. You also mixed up the two sounds in saurai/vais. It's the opposite. Saurai is tense/closed, like 'sauré'. Vais is lax/open, like 'vè'. Check forvo if you're not sure. In the song, Stromae does pronounce it as vé, but this was probably to make it rhyme with saurai, trouver and travailler.

Didn't mean to confuse anyone😬 About je vais. I learnt it at my university that this word is an exception and it has [e]. I'm aware this information may be outdated so I don't insist :) Anyway sometimes I can really hear [e] in this word

No Stromae (his name is pronounced Stromaï by the way) pronounces like this because he is from Belgium. It is a small country between France and Netherlands. There is no distinction in northern part of France either ... 😉 for exemple the town Beauvais will be pronounced with an open è in Paris or Beauvais but with a closed é in Amiens or Lille. These are regional differences.
