It’s great to see you can enjoy bouldering with your daughter…..it took me a while to learn the priorities & tools of the tree trade, but people at my tree company are starting to notice the skills I brought from my recreational climbing past. The slowing down and thinking has bothered many non-climbing groundies, perhaps they did not understand it? Starting a family motivated me to climb at work, because there’s little spare time to do so otherwise! Kids need to have climbing opportunities before they have kids!

I hesitate to jump off as my knee is in rough shape but I won’t hesitate to tie in and climb with a top rope.

Just out of curiosity, from a tree climbing perspective (although I've done a little bouldering in my time), would the right move have been to hook his toe in somewhere instead of his heel? Obviously the over hang pulls him away from the rock and my instinct would be to hook my toe in to pull me back. Bouldering is such a tough sport!
@arboristBlairGlennАй бұрын
Possibly, not being able to pull that move myself, I’m reluctant to give him much advice.

Mostly looked like he was trying to get comfortable with the height of the last moves rather than trying different sequences.

Those knees and tail bones take a lot of pounding everytime they land on the crash pads . Make sure everyone has their medical insurance premium update and be safe 🙏

@@arboristBlairGlenn you know, only climbers get sweaty hands while watching climbing videos.... bouldering is fascinating, but my back does not really like those crashpads landings, or even jumping down on crashpads ....

@arboristBlairGlenn ,no haven't finished yours yet. I was watching that idiot when yours came in and thought you might like to see it or give him some words that might keep him around to enjoy family longer.

@arboristBlairGlenn yep, just finished. Bless your children Blair. They're all very active after their dad. Should serve them well in life. As for the rock climbing another person I know got their start that way before trees so I was able to digest that portion of the video quickly. I would agree with you on it being good practice for those that are thinking or are in tree care. Personally I got a fast introduction to working at height through framing. More than 3 decades ago. 😎✌️✌️Stay Safe
