Cool video. One thing I witnessed with a hired drone pilot on a shoot a few years back, was he was pretty good at flying a drone, but had no sensibility as a cameraman. A whole afternoon of shooting resulted in mostly unusable footage. The 'trainee' here needs to think like a cameraman NOT a racing drone pilot. His thinking the drone was too slow on the water to beach to trees shot, highlights this. Hopefully more lessons like this and he will start to think more like a DOP/Cameraman. Obviously he is well skilled in flying a drone. This is a bit like telling camera persons to learn a bit of editing, as it makes you a better shooter when you can think of hot shots will piece together and also how some shots won't work. I have debated getting a drone with all the regulations that have come about, but watching this stirs up the itch again. - Cheers

You say a director may not like the idea of using a GoPro, yet there are a lot of commercials, TV shows, and movies all being done with a GoPro. Heck Nurk talked about using a GoPro for the Ford commercial he recently did. Its all about what the final product requirements are, and many of these smaller cameras today can outperform many larger more expensive cameras from a few years ago.

I disagree with the "number one rule: do not crash". Yes, the stakes are higher and you got to bring your A-game and be careful to not push yourself beyond your limits of control, but the main goal as an FPV pilot on set is to 1) do your job safely and 2) get the shots. Whether you destroy a drone or a camera is of no consequence to the production as long as you get the shots safely. Things always go wrong and sometimes you lose video or something else beyond your control happens. It's important to stay calm, find a solution, and move on with the show.

So with a GoPro or Insta360 etc, you can use in cam stabilization or Reelsteady to smooth out little jitters and oscillations - How do you go about doing smoothing out footage when using a bigger cam like a Komodo etc? @Perforator20003 жыл бұрын
I think Betaflight can handle that on an X8 configuration because the failed motor has a redundant coaxial motor. I'm not aware of any flight control firmwares that can handle a failure on a hexacopter or other multirotor that doesn't have coaxial motors.
@FlyingPenguinDrones3 жыл бұрын
In theory yes. We did a video a while back with a 5-in 8-motor setup, and if we removed a prop (to simulate motor failure), the drone still flew fine, albeit with less thrust as it's lost 1/8th of it's power.

OK while we are at it Celsius to Fahrenheit temperature: Ctemp x 1.8 + 32 = Ftermp (Ftemp -32) / 1.8 = Ctemp 20C x 1.8 + 32 = 68F. 25.4mm = 1 inch KPH/ 1.6 = MPH...also works for distance 1000km/1.6 = 625 miles.
