A Wing Chun kung fu lesson about the mechanics required to apply technique in a real situation.
defending the against the grab and punch (laap da). In this video, Neil Parris describes a Wing Chun technique you can use to defend yourself when your arm has been grabbed while also breaking down the body mechanics required to make the technique work. This is a practical Wing Chun concept which can be used for self defence/self protection.

I was genuinely surprised you showed her re-rooting at the different angle. This is something I've seen 10 year wing chun practitioners mess up themselves. Great job, and good kung fu. Wing Chun's answers to everything should be simple.

Awesome! I learned the same general idea from my chisao training about reacting to harder laap-da. The execution and followup was a bit different, but the overall concept is the same. I'm a very recent newcomer to your channel but I so far very much appreciate your content. Thanks for sharing.

nice lesson but in a real streetfight its not so easy like it seems because you have to face your fears,hearttbeat,breeth... im not a fighter so im scared,i think a lot of people are thats why i have a question : how you get that fear under control... everybody reacts different in panicsituations. and then its not easy to remember all these moves we train.im sorry for my english,i hope its good enough to understand what i wanted to say. And really thanks for the lesson,you give us something beautifull to forget convid 19 ... thanks sir.

With that out side circular step would it be good to use Man Sao to create a redirective shield to also avoid from getting hit.. Or hit and Man Sao at the same time with that circular step ?

Props on the concept, but drills I believe are for training and sensitivity purposes. Although I understand what you mean. Good vid

Thank you very much for your comment Clown Prince. I totally agree with you. I would add that it's very important that drills don't merely heighten responses to familiar and expected stimuli while blinding us to others. When that happens, it is no longer sensitivity practice. It becomes pattern practice. As with all things, it's about balance! All best, Neil

Central Wing Chun I'm thinking of changing Wing Chun for JKD because I don't know JKD was made to be a formless art and to fix the flaws that Wing Chun has
@CentralWingChun
@CentralWingChun 3 жыл бұрын
You must choose the martial art that best suits you. JKD is great, but I would disagree that it is an answer to weaknesses in Wing Chun. Weaknesses belong to individuals and individuals can find answers to their problems in any school where practical skills and honest training is at the heart. As this video shows, it is not the selection of techniques that makes the difference, but rather an awareness to the actual problem and an ability to see logical options. In this case the answer was facing the opponent, stepping to the side and making use of the wu sau (protective hand). Regarding forms. All styles are formless in application and all styles have forms in the learning phase, even when it isn't a set sequence. Remember, forms are the core mechanics and focus of an art. Thank you for your comment. I wish you well.
