Εδώ στην Αυστραλία απαγορεύεται παντού το κάπνισμα αν και η κυβέρνηση συνεχίζει να αυξάνει τους ήδη πολύ υψηλούς φόρους στα τσιγάρα.

Νομίζω ότι τα τσιγάρα θα ήταν παράνομα, μόνο και μόνο για λόγους δημόσιας υγείας, αν τα κράτη (και οι καπνοβιομηχανίες) δεν έβγαζαν τόσα πολλά λεφτά από την πώληση τους.

@@EasyGreekVideos Για ολόκληρες δεκαετίες η ελληνική οικονομία στηρίζεται στο κάπνισμα. Από την εποχή που εξάγαμε καπνά σε όλο τον κόσμο μέχρι πολύ πρόσφατα. Μέχρι τα τέλη της δεκαετίας του '90 που ξέρω, ενυ πολύ καλό καπνό έπιανε περίπου 1.000 δραχμές το κιλό. Η σακούλα των πενήντα γραμμαρίων στο περίπτερο είχε από 1.000 έως 1.800 δραχμές περίπου. Στον παραγωγό είναι ζήτημα αν έφταναν 10 δραχμές μικτά. Το κέρδος του παραγωγού ήταν γύρω στις 10 δραχμές το κιλό. Τα υπόλοιπα πήγαιναν στα έξοδα της καλλιέργειας, στα δάνεια της Αγροτικής κλπ. Από τα ρέστα 30% πήγαινε στους εμπόρους και τους βιομήχανους και τα υπόλοιπα στα κρατικά ταμεία μέσω της φορολόγησης σε όλα τα στάδια.

Restaurant and cafeteria owners are afraid to impose non smoking in their shops because if they do their customers will go to another shop that looks the other way and allows its customers to smoke. The police should impose non smoking strictly without exception so that law abiding shop owners don't feel like suckers.

I don't like smoke but seemed to me that the smoker teachers at school seemed the most human, had the most character, more empathy more aware of, and cared about political economic realities. Maybe their weakness in smoking made them more compassionate and understanding of others failings?

When I was in Greece in 2016 (sharing a taxi with my cousin), the taxi driver asked her if she minded if he had a smoke (he didn't ask me). She said she was fine with it and he lit up and had a smoke. I can't see this happening in many other countries.

I don't smoke but I also have nothing against smokers. I live in Northern Italy and you will never find someone smoking inside of restaurants or bars. Therefore nobody is bothering me. And someone has to pay the taxes too as I always say :-) :-) :-)

Να το πω απλά, απεχθάνομαι το κάπνισμα. Ίσως είμαι υπερευαίσθητος, αλλά αν υπάρχει κάπου κοντά μου καπνιστής η μύτη μου καταλαβαίνει αμέσως την οσμή, τα μάτια μου τσούζουν και αισθάνομαι πικρή γεύση. Προσωπικά δεν κάπνιζω γιατί μικρός έπαιζα ποδόσφαιρο, και ο προπονητής συμβούλευε να μην καπνίζουμε. Αυτή η επιλογή κάνει καλό και στην υγεία και στην τσέπη. Όταν έχω άγχος πάω και κάνω βόλτα. Επίσης οι αρχαίοι Έλληνες που έχω σε μεγάλη εκτίμηση, δεν κάπνιζαν, οπότε δε βλέπω κάποιο λόγο για να υιοθετήσω αυτή την ξενόφερτη, ανθυγιεινή και εθιστική συνήθεια. Η μαγκιά είναι να αντιστέκεσαι. Να λες όχι.

It is the first time that you see people smoking outside the restaurants and bars. It was about time ! And it is nice that you see people talking again and not only looking at their smartphones' screens. I wish there will be a law that will finally work for people that park wherever they want and don't care if they park their car at the pedestrian areas and if somebody with a wheelchair cannot cross the road ..

nope they don't they'll constantly be outside to smoke. the contact is even less, so your point is invalid to be honest, as of the roads, they will have to demolish all the houses(including probably yours) that were built without agreement in earlier days so that they make proper cities.

Smoking is not enforced in many places I went in Greece. A no smoking sign will not or rarely be found in Greece

If you went around the period that you wrote this comment, give and take a couple of years, then the no smoking sign was not needed anymore, there was a law that prohibited smoking in closed places, if it was though outside then you should have asked if it was prohibited or not. In the start if a coffee shop or restaurant had an outside place, smoking there was not forbidden. Also, if you went to non large cities, yeap smoking was prohibited from the laws but no one was abiding.

Once I was in a tavern and there was only one table full aside ours. At that there were two ladies and out of the blue one of them pulled out of her bag a cigarette and - as if nothing happened - she started to smoke. When the waitress passed by I asked her politely "Is smoking allowed in here?" And she asked me the following hair raising question equally as politely: "Do you want me to tell them to stop????" and she meant it! She was not joking! She left me with the mouth hanging... This pretty much describes Greece nowadays.

Εμένα μου ενδιαφέρει πολύ αυτό το θέμα γιατί ήμουνα έκπληκτος όταν πήγα στην Γερμανία και είδα τους ξαδερφούς έλληνους εκεί ότι ο ξαδερφός μου Στέφανος μόνο είναι εικοσιτρία και ήδη έχει αρχίσει να καπνίζει πολύ. Ευτυχώς οι άλλοι μου ξαδερφοί δεν κάνουν αυτό. Αλλά πολλοί άνθρωποι δεν καταλαβαίνουν πόσο εθιστική είναι η κάπνηση.

I never smokef.. But I feel really uncomfortable.with..the cold harsh state action against this, when on.other hand it doesn't really care if folk have a roof over their heads in winter. So I always wonder of a plausible cause is chosen to train for compliance as part of creating an atmosphere of fear, informing, atomisation, .... totalitarianism eventually. I guess.it sounds paranoid but I can't help wondering if the subtext cultural shift is the main point of these things.

I can't even stand beside a smoker. I'm thinking 10 times before traveling to Greece because smoking is so primitive and bad for your health that I can't even imagine being in a place where people smoke inside homes, buses, cafés, discos, stores and other places.
