That kiosk looks so alike the ones in Mexico, the same chocolate and biscuit brands, the Kider eggs, even the variety of cigars! Here people use to take a newspaper and read it but they don't buy it, when they're finished they put it back into the pile xd

English version of my previous attempt at commenting in Greek: Dimitris's joke about the origin of the word περίπτερο actually wasn’t too far off the mark! The ancient Persian prototype of the kiosk [Persian , whence French kiosque / English “kiosk”] actually was surrounded by columns or poles. The part of the structure between those outer pillars or poles and the inner part of the structure constituted the surrounding “wings” [Greek: πτέρυγα, or “wing” in the architectural sense.] A standard ancient Greek temple style -- the so-called περίπτερος ναός - had a similar structure (see the Greek Wikipedia article el.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Περίπτερος_ναός . …I now see that "Thessalos" made a related comment 3 months ago -- Μπράβο, Θέσσαλε!)

When I was a kid, my mama used to send me to the periptero to buy her cigarettes, and if the peripteras didn’t have enough change he would include bubblegums, sweets & lollipops with the main change. BTW Although I used to like Cadbury’s chocolate before it was sold to Kraft in the US, I think that the Greek chocolate ION is now the superior quality mainstream chocolate in the world because they have retained their rich original recipe. God bless Greece, Cyprus and all the Hellenophones ♥️

Δημήτρη -- έκανα λίγη ἐρευνα, και βρήκα ότι η πλἀκα που ἐκανες για το από που προἐρχεται η λέξη «περίπτερο» («γιατί έχει γύρω-γύρω φτερά!») τελικά δεν ήταν και τόσο λάθος! Το αρχαίο περσικό πρωτότυπο του μοντέρνου περιπτέρου είχε όντως γύρω-γύρω στήλες η κίονες. Ο χώρος μεταξύ των στηλών και τοu εσωτερικού μέρους του κτιρίου ονομάζεται «πτέρυγα» (αγγλικά: “wing”, in the architectural sense). Ο «περίπτερος ναός» στην αρχαία Ελλάδα ηταν κάτι ανάλογο (να δείτε το σχετικό άρθρο Βικιπαιδεία): el.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Περίπτερος_ναός
