1. Svrček v lete oddychuje. Leto je ideálne na relax! 2. Mravec v lete pracuje. Myslím si, že mravec je trochu workoholik (ako ja? ;-) ). 3. Mravec býva v mravenisku. Mravenisko je veľmi zaujímavý dom. Je to dobrý architektonický štýl! 4. Svrček hrá na husliach. Mravec nemá husle, takže nemôže hrať na husle. Možno mravec hrá v zime na iný hudobný nástroj? 5.

I used to live in a village "Sülysáp" near Budapest. Half of the people living there were called "Szvercsek", now I understand where this name came from. Interestingly I don't remember anyone named "Mravec" or "Moravec". Brilliant story teller, you are.

@miklosnemeth85663 жыл бұрын
@Dimitrij Fedorov Haha, great point. Anyhow, the explanation is much simpler, the village in my opinion was originally populated by Slovak speaking people. Other than Szvercseks we have here Hornyáks, Antaliczs, Szviteks, Horinkas, 99% of the names are like so. When I arrived to the village in 1988 a lot of people spoke Slovak, today barely any, sadly. Anyhow, Slovak revival is in place and young people show interest in relearning Slovak.

Thank you, Paulina. I've always had some misgivings about the moral of this traditional fable. It is good in the sense that it teaches children to be serious, hardworking and prudent. However, because of its tragic ending, I was felt that it contained a flaw: it doesn't teach children to be merciful. It looks like the ant doesn't care about the appeal of the grasshopper and its imminent death. Therefore, I believe a good ending for the fable would be the ant saying to the grasshopper: I warned you, but I will help you this time; next summer you should also work like me, so as to prepare yourself for next winter and have your own food to eat!
@stefanlanger2643 жыл бұрын
In my humble opinion the catch is that the ant has not pointlessly collected more food in summer than she needs in winter. So she would have to sacrifice her own life if she helped the cricket. ;-)
@LearnSlovakwithStories3 жыл бұрын
Ricardo, thank you for sharing your perspective, it's very interesting. For me, it's not entirely clear what the moral of the story is supposed to be, it can be quite complex: At first sight, being irresponsible might seem like a flaw, but one can ask: isn't letting someone die worse than being a bit lazy? So yes, your comment is spot on! I think the way people view this fable reveals a lot about their values, namely their understanding of/approach to justice.
@stefanlanger2643 жыл бұрын
@@LearnSlovakwithStories This story is simple only at first glance but perfect for discussing moral concepts such as justice and limits of purposeful solidarity both between individuals and as a society. Just as your fairy tales are ideal for teaching children and "grown-up children" a language. ;-) I work in law and like to discuss the relationship between law and ethics. Those who think it´s ok to let the cricket die are not necessarily bad human beings but have a more realistic approach to life. One could make the facts one step more complex and add some kind of probability that a bad person would step on the anthill in winter and that the ant would therefore not have survived anyway. :-)
@eliasshakkour29043 жыл бұрын
@@asoi2 Why not?
@eliasshakkour29043 жыл бұрын
@@stefanlanger264 Yes, this is an excellent point that must not be ignored! Presumably, the ant has not gathered more food than necessary. Should the ant give the cricket some food now so that the cricket can survive temporarily, only to have them both die before the end of winter? The question would be far more interesting if the ant *had* gathered some extra food that would be enough for the cricket to survive the winter. Then the question becomes: does the ant save the cricket’s life, or refuse to do so to make a point about being responsible and planning ahead?

В русском языке есть похожая сказка «Стрекоза и муравей» Муравей не виноват, он работал все лето. А сверчок отдыхал, зная что ему нечего будет есть зимой. Он просто не позаботился о себе.
@alexandertumarkin53433 жыл бұрын

Mám otázku (tentokrát po anglicky): 07:52 "pre seba". Of course I understand it´s "pre seba" because the object in this sentence refers to the same person as the subject. But would "pre mňa" in this context be less elegant, really clumsy or simply wrong? Sorry, but I am a language enthusiast. So I would like to know if "pre mňa" was a option. Next goal: in a few months´ time I want to be able to ask a question like this simply in Slovak. :-) Ďakujem pekne!
@LearnSlovakwithStories3 жыл бұрын
Good question. Your explanation of why it should be pre seba is perfect. I don't know what answer to give, I think the line between wrong and clumsy is not so exact... With pre mňa, can we understand what you mean? Absolutely. Is it the best way of saying it? No. But it's hard to judge the degree to which it is acceptable. Normally it's acceptable if there could be a misunderstanding or ambiguity, but that's not the case here. I would still say it's ok, but in comparison to the reflexive possessive pronoun svoj, it's clumsier. With svoj, you can totally use môj instead just for stylistic reasons, but here it is a bit more rare to switch it like that. Sorry, I know this was too much text and no real answer :D
@stefanlanger2643 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your explanation! I summarize your answer as: no Slovak would use môj instead of svoj in this context. And in the long run my goal is not to dance the line between clumsy and wrong but to improve. ;-)
