Romraider is such an underrated software. i know they are know for mostly the subarus. But its also come very far for the e36 ms41 community. And ive gotten 600hp builds on stock ecu with just romraider and megalog viewer.

I took a couple of courses first when hpa started. I wanted to tune my personal car back then and the courses help me a lot. Highly recommend

8:55 You can enable fast polling to improve your query rate (see how it currently says slow-k) Additionally it's probably an important note to make that anyone who's using this video as a starting point to start logging using RR (seeing as it will be a free video on youtube now), the software does not ship with definitions out of the box and there is some configuration needed. Relative to this, depending on the definitions used, you will be seeing different parameters available from def to def.

This may be a stupid question, I don’t know anything as far as self-tuning yet, but does anybody make like some kind of auto-tuning software or devices? It seems like it would be pretty simple thing to make, figuratively. I’m not a programmer- but can’t you make a basic AI that would automatically adjust all these maps automatically with adjustable levels of safety dialed into the curves? Wouldn’t that be really easy and convenient? If i’m not being clear, imagine something that you activate- do a pull- and then it analyzes all the maps, factors in ambient air temps and altitude and runs a self-simulation and guesses a sort of max value and an average value, then makes a change here or there- you do a second pull and it analyzes the effects of how accurate it’s guesses were- then corrects itself, do a third pull. Seems like pretty soon it would know my car really well, and if I threw on, say, an air intake. Why can’t I quickly enter a mode, tell it what changed ‘added cold air intake’ and then have it look at the changes to normal, it makes a guess, do a pull. Am I stupid? This video is my first attempt at learning tuning and 2 mins in I paused it to ask this because it’s been bothering me for a long time. Couldn’t something like I describe be made to self tune in real time, too?

Yes, but no it's not that good or easy when it comes to no manul intervention. Here's an example from one platform - Taz. www.hpacademy.com/blog/how-to-use-your-autotune-function-ecumaster/

@@hpa101 hey thanks a lot for the educating and the reply. I suppose if something like I talked about did exist that it would probably take a lot of work from the Tuners that count on that income. Sort of like self checkout. I appreciate how you’re taking something like Subaru tuning that seems more protected and clandestine than the CIA and actually sharing knowledge with other human beings who are interested in learning. And for free. That’s super cool of you! Open source, what a concept

Is there a OS ROM for the newer VA chassis? Specifically with the RA motor ECUs, I heard that thes 18 RAs and 19+ have a new ECU.

I find it hard to find reliable tune for na subarus, is there any recomdenations too look before i turn another one of our cars to project car and start tuning it myself?

Since i changed the turbo, injectors and tmic on my 2001 wrx to sti spec i was wondering would it be safe to reflash the ecu with a stock 2001 sti map and then in order to see if it's running too lean/rich just to log in rom raider as explained here? the only issue i could see is that i don't have a 3rd party wideband AFR sensor to accurately check the ratio.
@hpa10112 күн бұрын
It will give you a starting point. It only won't be safe if you flash it in and then begin by doing full power ramp runs (yes, some people do that). Fit a wideband, it's cheaper than an engine rebuild 🤘 From there, start your log and ease your way into things checking it all as you go working up to full power runs once you know it is safe to do so and have made any applicable changes to the tune as you go if required. If you don't have it EcuFlash is probably an option for you (open source tuning software). You'll need an interface for it, the Tactrix one is solid - Taz. www.hpacademy.com/blog/ecuflash-tuning-example-subaru/ www.hpacademy.com/blog/are-oem-tunes-as-good-as-you-think-ep-2-off-the-record/

High Performance Academy, hope you don't mind a question: I'm putting new rings in my used engine. Factory says new rings should have a gap of 0.006"-0.012" Unfortunately the standard size pregapped new rings measure 0.015" when put in, and file-fit rings don't exist. Can I get the 0.020" Oversize ones and file them instead? It's a Honda DOHC ZC (pretty much the same as D16A1) many thanks!
@srica73662 жыл бұрын
If they don't reply, boosted need more gap. Top and bottom different gap. More gap is better for boost. This guy talks a lot about ring gap.kzbin.info/door/8uf_zVTV63l1-uRSx6XbnQ
@sidney95342 жыл бұрын
@@srica7366 Thanks! It's just for a stock NA setup, no tuning. So the smaller gap is prefferable, I was just wondering which is better (standard size with larger gap or filed down oversize with smaller gap) Btw I messaged the manufacturer directly and they said the standards are totally fine and will not have any blowby or oil consumption.

hey can I use rom raider and transfer my maps from my old tuner and just go from where he left off?
@danielbrewster85792 жыл бұрын
Reading and writing roms will require ecu flash. But once opened and read you can save it as a .bin file and open with rom raider or just use ecuflash.
