When you ask: "em bao nhiêu tuổi?" I only hear the girl say "em hai bảy tuổi" (0:52 and 4:42 on the video clip) but does she actually say: "em hai mươi bảy tuổi"? - xin cảm ơn trước!

Very good question! Actually, most of the time, we tend to skip the "mươi" word when saying numbers. For example 45 = " Bốn Lăm" (it's the same as Bốn mươi lăm).

Based on the girl's accent, she does not have a pure Saigon accent. My family and my relatives are from Saigon, none of us says "hai bảy tuổi" like she does. If I can guess, this way of saying is influenced from norther Vietnamese. In the south we say:" như thế nào", but most of northerners say "như nào".

that is true, you would usually say it to children (18 and under) and if you are a child, you would say it to someone younger than you

I do have a question. My family pronounces "v" as "d", for example, người việt becomes người "diệt". How come in your videos, u dont pronounce và (english = and) as dà. Thanks!! Do every parts of Sth. Vietnam pronounces "v" as "d" or only in some parts?^^

Sorry, That was a mistake. Southerners , some pronounce "v" as "v", but some pronounce "v" ad "d", like you said (especiall Saigonese) . I try to pronouce "và" instead of "dà" (and in English), because I forgot to. From now on, I'll pronounce "d" for "v" :D.

Cảm ơn is northern Vietnamese. I left Vietnam almost 30 years, I now notice a lot of southern words are written and saying like the north. Cảm ơn, gửi thư, bóng instead of cám ơn, gởi thơ, banh. Would you care to explain this incident?

I dont know exactly why, because im just 24 years old I might not experience that whole period of time. But You're right about "cám ơn, and "cảm ơn" . But we still use "gửi thư", and đá banh", not "gửi thơ", or "đá bóng". There might be someone in the South use that. The only reason I think of is because, Northern People start to move to the south for living, so the accent of some southern vietnamese is affected (just some of them)
