Hi. New subscriber here! While I love what you did with both pieces, the armoire struck home with me. My husband and I just came across a gorgeous wooden front door that we had to take back to the wood and talk about crevices! We finally finished and it is so beautiful. Our $50. find was so worth the work. That was one reason for subscribing. You aren’t a afraid of hard work too. Wow Christina.....awesome video on two big projects🙌🏻🙌🏻 that armoire transformation is amazing🤩 I bet you were doing a happy dance with completing that.....tons of work....but oh so worth it🌟❣️ Now the chair....I’m speechless....I’ve seen leather painted ( went and watched your painted leather chair...,also amazing and would never know it was chalk paint🤓 blending those colors....fantastic result) I didn’t know you can dye leather....Wow....looks so comfy and inviting and meticulously executed....you never cease to amaze me.....I have a question ....around 30 years ago my Mom bought my dad a leather lazy boy recliner in 80s green....yes she did....it’s been in storage bc of the color.....not sure I’m ready for a project like this ( skill set lacking🙄) so for the novice do you think painting or dying would be the way to go? Of course I would practice on something smaller and I am such a perfectionist....it keeps me from trying new things....it’s no t getting use now....so might as well give one a try...any advise is always appreciated....thank you for sharing these WOW projects❣️🌟😊k
@TheReclaimedHeirloom4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kimberly Thank you 🙏 so much for your kind words and thoughtful comment ❤️I really appreciate your feedback and support! Based on your project and question I recommend trying the leather dye since your lazyboy recliner is already a real leather. Also because your chair is already the green (80's) lol 😂 I can completely see it in my mind! but I am also guessing its in perfect condition 😉 Trying to go lighter might be tricky so I also recommend something in similar tone colour or not to far off. There is 16 colours to choose from so definitely have a look at the colours. I think its a fantastic idea for what you are looking for! The process is not long and of course you don't have to use the dark wax you can you leather condtioner or bee's wax. Not sure of the cure time but the product will have the details regarding that 😉 Keep me posted if you go forward and I would love to see your final result, also please feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions 👍☺️

Beautiful chair. I'm sure there were instructions on how to prep the leather to best accept this dye, using pure acetone cleans the surface, preps the leather and dries much faster than TSP and water. I got this tip from watching the Elegant Oxford channel. He dyes leather shoes all the time. I've done two old leather pillows and it worked very well.

I noticed a Roman/Greek bust (possibly plaster) used as a prop behind you in the closing moments of this segment. Did you paint (antique) this? Would love to know if any of your earlier videos show how you did this. What colors/products did you use to achieve this look (i.e. aged, weathered copper; turquoise and "mossy" green). Thank you.

Again I’m inspired my husband has a recliner that is light colored and has a grunge mark from his noggin, he’s gone over night....his chair will be a worn brown color. What do you think of watering down some darker brown stain and spraying on. Outside edges??? Giving it some depth?
@TheReclaimedHeirloom4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tamm! Good thought! I know this type of leather dye I bought comes in various different colors so if you hare trying to match the original color you can. The grunge mark seems to be similar to what I experienced with this recliner. I found that I really had to scrub it down and then I took sandpaper to it as well but not all of it came off completely but I was able to mask it with a little more of the dye and also with some dark wax. I think the effect you are trying to achieve you may need two different shades of leather dyes? I have not tried this effect so I am not sure if it will turn out. I found that for this product, I was able to wipe back some of the dye but it dries really fast so you have to be quick. I hope this helps! ❤️🎨🙏

Fabulous pieces! I am new-ish to your channel and have been admiring your armoire. As you were sanding and stripping I began to wonder if a Dremmel tool (or an electric nail tool) would have been able to get into the nooks and crannies.

Hi Cindy! Welcome to my channel! Yes! A dremmel tool is a good idea! 🎨🙏❤️

Awesome transformations on both pieces! Thank you so much for the leather tutorial. I didn't realize there are dyes for leather. WOW! I thought this would also be a great idea for faded leather car seats as well. Thanks again

Hi Lynn!! Same here! I did not know about this dye product! You can for sure use it on faded leather car seats as well! My husband was thinking the same thing! The product is linked in my amazon store for reference! ❤️🙏🎨
