Now that's the ship that inspires goosebumps every time I see that scene. There was something special about that Enterprise.

Derick Wildstar So sorry for your loss, dear friend! I wished I had known your sister. It sounds as if she would have been my friend I never had, which lived Star Trek as much as me. I always only see guys, never girls. I hope you will not become angry,; I am sure she still can see this. And one day you will meet again.

Kuddos on the fine work! Also, I noticed you restrained from using a "too brigh" palette of colors, which is technically correct as pictures from NASA (original ones without color enhancement made for the general public) reveal that in space colors show up in subtle shades. Excelent attention to detail. Congrats!

Excellent remake. I saw this movie like 4 times when it first came out in 1979 on the big screen. It wasn't until Star Trek II that I realized in the departure scene that there was a huge clamp of some sort attached to the starboard secondary hull and it was has become stock footage from TMP.
@VideoSpaceFX8 жыл бұрын
Indeed, I never noticed it until it was pointed out to me and I must have watched it many times by that point.

VideoSpaceFX Make me wonder because the flaw was so huge, how did ILM or whoever was responsible for the FX didn't catch that?
@VideoSpaceFX8 жыл бұрын
It was probably done to reduce the need for compositing. Having everything in the same take means you don't get the matte lines, scratches and image degradation from the techniques that were used then. It's why 2001 has amazing looking effects for 1968. Kubrick insisted on everything being in the shot for the one take (excusing perhaps a second pass to pick up the lighting etc.). Compare them with TOS shots filmed in the same era!

The Constitution Refit Class U.S.S. Enterprise is a beautiful ship and a beautiful design it's sad that they didn't know the ship had a serious design flaw and it was that ridiculously thin neck only if they had widened or strengthened or reinforced that structure the Constitution Refit Class probably would have been in service a lot longer instead of being decommissioned in the early 2290s and also would most likely would have still been in service in the 24th century like the Miranda and Excelsior classes or could have been started being phased out by then.
@mikegallant8112 жыл бұрын
Yes Nicholas that is unfortunately true the Constitution refit Enterprise was a very Good ship I am not disputing that but you are entirely correct there was a serious design flaw to that class in that the neck was unfortunately very slim. The Enterprise you could quite easily say had a close one when Khan hit her broadside in the torpedo launcher area it was only probably because the torpedo Bay section was very well designed that she didn't get shot in half at the neck you could say God was watching out for Jim Kirk and his crew but then Gofd looks out for idiots children and ships named Enterprise although I will add this because of the damage that the torpedo Bay took on one side from Khan's phaser shots Enterprise was down to one working photon launcher tube I believe it was the starboard one later on in Star Trek 3 The search for Spock when she went up against the bird of prey and you are right the excelsior class definitely had a thicker neck which was a good thing!

"Departure angle on viewer." Nice touch adding the moon receding into the distance. That, and the Earth-orbit views from the shuttle pod are the only parts of this scene that need a re-make. IIRC, even the original Jupiter fly-by wasn't bad, but your Celestia version was better. (I've re-created it in Orbiter enough times, with an Enterprise model. :-)

Two things, whichever is easiest. The launch of a Constitution-Class, USS Kongo, NCC-1710, Refit form. Or a Sovereign Class, USS Apollo, NCC-71685, alost leaving drydock. Whichever is easiest! Thank you for the reply!

I don't like it. CGI looks cartoony and fake. The best CGI money can buy is still no match for skilled, professional, old school cinematography and hand built models.
