There are 3 Durbar Squares, Kathmandu and Bhaktapur and Patan durbar Square. Before 1769 Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan were seprate Kingdoms. Each had a Palace and a Square. The Kings would try to out do each other with better Architectures too.

Yeah but after Shah dynasty, Kathmandu became Nepal's capital where more iconic palaces and temples were built and reconstructed there but in Bhaktapur, most of the temples and palaces were never reconstructed after earthquakes that occurred every century

We also escaped to Nagarkot to escape both Air and noise pollution for a few days .There are some nice walks around , enjoy .Fingers crossed the fog clears and you get Breath taking views

Yup, ... You could see the temple, buildings, architecture and road. Bet if the walls could talk ,you'll never what kind of stories.....and what a surprised, Flora and Note.... Sorry to hear about your respiratory infection. I lived in Nepal for 2 years, when I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer there back in the late 90s. There are sooo many majestic views of the Himalaya. If you get a chance, must go trekking to one of the base camp. It was THE experience of a lifetime for me. No pollution there in the hills. As in any large cities, can only stay for a few days, and you need to get out of town, or wear a mask in public when walking in the streets, breathing the motorbike fumes.
