A very good friend of mine since high school in the middle 1960s moved to Cuenca with his wife about 8 years ago. They love living there and I received an email from them at the beginning of the month. They weren't too concerned about the protests at that time saying that they live in the middle of the city and can walk anywhere they need to go. I'll have to check back with them and see how they're doing. The part that amazes me is that there has been no media coverage at all here in the US.

Saw the Matney's video, was hoping things would cool down in Ecuador before your visas ran out. Going back North was not going to be an option because of the Darian and the truck. Fingers crossed, keep eyes peeled. Might need to make up a little time from the overstay in Madeleine, and move quickly through Ecuador just in case things get weird. Bummer thought Ecuador would be a highlight country too but safety is more important.

Yes!!! Please don't go there. Way too scary. I commented on Trent and Allie's site and some guy told me i was stupid, because there were shootings in the U.S., too. This is different. Better to go back to Panama if necessary. Your safety is the ONLY IMPORTANT THING. That is why so many people WALKED all the way to the U.S. and got stuck at the border by the thousands. Scary. Please don't be in a dangerous place. 😬
