Only Dan and Greg Cote's hilarious, heartfelt and storied friendship could lead to a conversation for the ages... this episode will forever lovingly be known as "Sob Beach Sessions". Greg and Dan share how they managed to avoid forging a fierce rivalry, reveal why Chris Cote's dismissal (*cough* firing) from ESPN was the truest test of loyalty, and listeners will be stunned to find out the never-before-heard decision regarding Stugotz. Even if you know their relationship, you could've never imagined getting to hear them like this...

Having followed both Dan’s and Greg’s careers since the 80’s at the Herald, and enjoying Dan and Stu from the very beginnings at 790 The Ticket…..I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, THIS is the most connected I have felt with these two Miami journalism giants. I thank you for bringing out this wonderful emotion out of me and making me LOVE my near 20 Year obsession of this unique show even stronger.

Dan, I have followed you since the Herald and all your iterations, with Cote and his faulty "internal clock." If you never did anything else, this was enough. Thank you both for sharing this. When people ask why you listen, when I have said hard to explain, it feels like I am hanging out with the guys. But it always felt like more than that..... it is the undercurrent of caring and friendship...THAT is why we listen/watch. If this session is an indication of the content to come, I will be there. Cote is going to be a little late.

This is the best episode of this show I can ever remember listening to. The vulnerability, honesty, humility, and love for eachother these two men revealed is EXACTLY what I am searching for in everything I listen to and watch. Whether conscious of it or not, I am constantly pondering my purpose, my progression, my competence, my value, my mortality etc as a father/son/man/small business owner. I want to hear I’m not alone. I want to hear about other men’s journeys, their struggles, their fears, their wins! If this is how the show’s going to be, count me the fugg in.

This show really hits me in the feels sometimes. Especially Dan talking about that baseball his dad wrote on that he was proud. For me, the closest thing to any sort of emotional speak from my dad was “Good luck” when I was like 22 leaving the house for a job I’d be working on the road. My kids will NEVER know a time that I don’t say I love you or hug the shit out of them. Break that cycle

I have to be honest. I just started listening/looking at this masterpiece of great sports takes. It all started back in 2017. It came on at 10:00am after the morning show. It was the very first time, I ever heard “weekend observations” by Stu. I was pissed off after (The mother ship) cancelled this show. But, I am happy that I have found this show once again. I hope for many more years of this wholesome sports programming. Take care everyone and thank you….

I remember when I was kid my dad would buy the Herald just so he could see the results of the horse races even though he couldn't speak or read English. After he was done I used love to read Greg Cote's and Edwin Popes columns! As I grew older and my father eventually passed away I would buy the paper just to read what they had to say about the Miami Dolphins and eventually the Miami Heat too. Looking back on it now I'm so glad my dad would buy the Herald when you could walk down the street to a metal box and drop a quarter in it and just pull out a newspaper of the daily news. Ironically about 13 or 14 years ago when I was working as a chef at this small little fancy restaurant in Downtown Hollywood, FL. I looked through the kitchen door which had a little window and to my amazement there sat Greg Cote and who I would presume is his wife with him. I was so excited I couldn't believe it! That he would come to this tiny restaurant in Downtown Hollywood, which most of them were just dives. The owner who was French asked me why I was so excited and I told him who you were. He asked me if there was a chance that he would mention the restaurant in the Herald and I remember telling him,not a chance. Lol. My only regret was not going out to his table to introduce myself as the chef and show my admiration for him but I was worried that he didn't like the food. It's something I'll always remember. I still have some of those old Miami Herald articles with Greg Cote!
