But maybe old by the 80's standards when players didnt take care of bodies and rarely sat out of games like today...but that can bring on another debate on why guys play longer and brake records easier now lol. I think playing basketball at a high level in late 30's will be a norm..in the NBA. they been callin Lebron old since he got to LA, when he was 33, and KD and Curry 34 now and no one calling them old lol...see how the narrative can sway an argument, thats Lebron propaganda lol..my eye test tells me MJ GOAT all day . LeBron didn't play a full season until his 15th year in the league. I have to say it's got to be easier to have a long career when you take a random Wednesday game against the Orlando magic off so you can rest. Jordan never took a day off. You would have to chain him in a dungeon in Siberia to keep him from showing up. LeBron is a great player but the longevity argument is specious.

The problem is 4/10 in the Finals. MJ? 6/6. Lebron had join 3 future hall of famers just to get his first 2. So are those really his? MJ’s six are without a doubt all His…so 6/6 or 2/8? It’s simple math. Lebron’s a “scorer”, but he’s not a winner and that’s the difference. That’s why Lebron’s Top 10, but he isn’t 1, that’s not close. Plus there’s plenty of players that have an equal if not better Claim to #2 than Lebron. Steph has dominated this era with less “help” than Lebron has, and he has more titles to show for it. If he wanted to be the GOAT, he should’ve won more, but staying around longer without winning means nothing….

While this guy has spent a lot of time explaining the perfect storm for Jordan's career, he has not explained those things that helped Lebron to sustain his Longevity compared to Michael. First, the last of rough and tough basketball. Basketball was far bigger and tougher during Jordan's times. There were no 'Lebron Rules' to knock him on the ground and hurt him to beat him. The game is far less big, injury-prone, and aggressive nowadays. Second, advances in health and tech. I believe that improved shoes, medicine, and treatments to keep a player strong and healthy. Lebron's 1.5 MIllion per year on health and wellness can account for this. There are more things to spend on to sustain one's body. I am not saying that his longevity is not impressive. I am saying that in this specific Category, Lebron is benefitting from a less physical era and a more advanced time. Personally, I lean towards Michael overall but I do also think that if he won 8 championships in total (without building a superteam through recruiting), he would be pretty close to or even surpass Michael in the GOAT debate.

Longevity does give you an advantage. What are you all talking about it? You also have to consider that Jordan put up those numbers in a far more physical era in a shorter time span. Let's not act like LeBron didn't come straight out of high-school and didn't take no time off
@maddoxalucard65872 жыл бұрын
They will never see longevity as a Advantage in numbers I try to explain to people If a player A averaged 20 PPG for 10 years straight years And player B averaged 14 PPG for 15 years Player A has 16400 Career Points Player B has 17220 Career Points would these guys say that Player B was more dominant I doubt they would Jordan played 15 years And had 2 major injuries And he came back with 16 games left in a season when he said “I’m back” So he essentially played 13 health seasons won 6 championships 5 Mvps.6 Fmvp,10 scoring titles,DPOY Those are just some of his accomplishments And if I remember correctly LBJ still has less offensive rebounds the Jordan And let’s talk about longevity one more time It looks like LBJ has only averaged about 1 more rebound and 2 more assists as career average That alone proofs my point of longevity But they won’t see that They just see LBJ getting numbers And the green check I just wish Jordan never retired and just played 15 years straight What if he went 8-0 or 7-1 or 6-2 would there even be a goat debate if he went 8-0 or 7-1 would have his legacy dropped if he went 6-2

And realistically as far as TS % being where LBJ is supposedly better that has to be broken down by adding content. LBJ has taken the vast majority of his shots within 0-3 feet from the basket.....whereas MJ has taken most of his from much farther distances. Also any shot considered 0-3 ft from the cup is a high percentage shot but back both players up outside of that distance and MJ's shooting percentage is much, much higher and Bron isn't even close. So when taking content into account; is it really as cut and dry who is really the better shooter? Simple answer =NO

Too many hypotheticals in this conversation. If this and if that then LBJ would be the Goat. Truth is if we’re throwing hypotheticals out there then you have to say that If MJ played in this modern NBA, his numbers would be off the charts definitely on the offense and LBJ would be even farther behind MJ in every offensive category nullifying this debate. MJ accomplished way more and with less. LBJ stat padding last year just proves he does not impact the game even with him putting up those numbers he did. His +- during that stretch was -117 pts 🤦♂️. Lebron can absolutely pass MJ as the GOAT. He just has to win 1) 9 more scoring titles, 2) win 2 more rings while only playing with 1 All Star the whole time and 3)be in the All Defensive team the years he gets the scoring titles. And the all star player has to be someone he built, the way Jordan built Pippen, not joining an All Star player like he did each time he switched teams. Other than that, no way he can be THE GOAT. Sound impossible? MJ did all those. Whenever someone said to MJ he couldn't do something, he did it. Just a few examples, they said Drexler shoot better 3s, MJ set a 3pt record in an NBA Finals w/in the 1st half against Drexler. MJ was dared to shoot a FT with his eyes closed, he did it, on the spot. Lebron tried it and missed. I bet Lebron even practiced that FT shot a lot b4 trying it and still missed. Hey, Lebron's the GOAT, let him prove it by doing everything I just mentioned above.
@TheSet6145 Жыл бұрын
here is Bron's problem.... he went shopping. He NEVER stuck with one team as I've already mentioned. Moving around HURT his legacy as the NBA by practice has always been a TEAM/DYNASTY when it came to the GREATS Not just good hoopers but TEAM DOMINANCE, if say MJ left the bulls after 3 rings and went to the knicks in that era? or the Rockets with Hakeem? He would have been the first to do so and TEAM would have dominated for multiple chips LeBron left 3 teams AND missed his 3peat when he should have gotten it so all he has left is the longevity. And don't be surprised if he leaves the lakers, trades AD or courts another super star to come play with him THAT is my issue with him

Lebron is amazing but the GOAT can't have a losing record in the finals because when the chips are down LeBron loses on the brightest stage more than he wins whereas the other never allowed his team to lose a final. Winning matters more than getting there. To assume all LeBron needs to do to be the GOAT is play at his peak for longer than MJ even though he never surpassed MJ's efficiency is the equivalent of a participation prize, the NBA is a league for adults and participation prizes are for children and shouldn't be given to them either

BUUUUUULSHIT, there is nothing that points to Jordan wouldn't still dominate after the two threepeats, the man was putting 40 points on the board at 40 years old, when Lebron retires and plays another sport for a season then comes back and wins 3 championships in a row... for a second time, then we can talk, sure it isn't everything but way better then just playing for a long time, one thing is true Lebron is 95% there but the greatest is 100% Jordan

The video making the narrative that MJ's career would've taken a dive and using that to count against him should've did the exact opposite and said,; "WHAT IF" MJ never Retired/took those seasons off to play baseball or had to for injury? Imagine if Jordan didn't miss those baseball years...he could've damn well had 2 more Rings, 2 more MVPs, thousands more points, passes, Final's MVPs, scoring titles, All Defensive Teams...etc., etc. So that argument he made about MJ retiring is irrelevant because if MJ stayed and accomplished the aforementioned things I said, we wouldn't even be having a conversation at all about who's the G.O.A.T.

That graph also is an indication of the softening of the NBA rules like no handcheck, flagrant fouls being called easier, defense is weaker...etc., etc. There's no way that Harden is a better scorer than Jordan and if he (Harden) can score 35 in this weak era then just as any Pro will tell you...Jordan would average 50. The way defense was played in MJ's day was much rougher, flagrant fouls didn't exist and let's not forget that nutrition, supplements and improvements to overall health are all factors that favors longer durability and overall ability. So making a graph without context that doesn't take into account all of those aforementioned facts just doesn't give the total picture as to the "how" or "why" one has an advantage over the others.

Yes Longevity matters, when you do something for a longer period of time then naturally you have an opportunity to create more results. So if you 3 are going to say that Longevity doesn't matter then let's simply compare Jordan and LeBron's career at the exact same length of years........in other words Jordan essentially played 13 years then compare Bron's stats at 13 years and now let's see who has better stats?? Now do you see why Longevity matters and makes a difference? Without counting the remaining 7 plus year difference in overall/cumulative stats for James' career then Jordan really destroys him by comparison. So don't claim that Longevity doesn't matter unless you're willing to say the same thing at the exact amount of years making them both even.

People who are bias like you dont need to watch videos like this.. Whatever happens, u guys like him to much so u will not say anything good about MJ. It all started with downgrading MJ and other legends so Lebron can get higher on the list.. Thats sad... And thats the reason why Lebron gets alot of hate.. 1. The fans 2. His comments about the Goat 3. Flopping 4, joining other teams with great players instead of trying to win with what he has. .. This is not my reasons.. I respect Lebron but got MJ as the goat.. You guys cant say anything good about MJ

I don't think he has any chance to be the greatest, but he's got the second greatest locked down. I'll tell you that.

Lebron fanboy logic: Jordan was better but lebron was almost as good for longer so that makes him better. This is the opposite of logic.
