@31olegna2 жыл бұрын
Sustained greatness is more difficult. You need to dive deeper into why LeBron's "things" took more time. Like scoring for instance; Bron was also generating assists while scoring at an above average rate. What would his numbers truly look like if he was going out there to score every night. 7 years in Cleveland vs MJ's management and coaching in Chicago. Michael's the greatest ever as of right now but What James is continuing to do is something nobody has done

@archerbluth2 жыл бұрын
@@31olegna your argument is flawed, and here’s why. 1) Sustained greatness is easier to maintain today. Better medicine, better transport, better scheduling. Even then Lebron has only played one 82 game season, plus several 70+ 2) LeBron and many other player these days are essentially greenlit. It’s easy to rack up numbers if the ball is in you hands the vast majority of time. 3) LeBron being a pass first player is a bad narrative, he’s never been a pass first guy, his offence is dependent on him getting to the rim, with the dish being secondary, he has always been shoot first pass of the option isn’t there. 4) his sustained excellence hasn’t accounted for winning these past few years, so a lot of his numbers are empty, it’s easy to stack up numbers when you only play one half of basketball. 5) he has spent a great deal of his prime with talent who can take attention away from him, this leads to him scoring more. LeBron is an amazing player, definitely top 3 with his skill, he just isn’t the GOAT. I’m certain we’ll have someone top MJ but LeBron just isn’t that guy.

Its not scoring, defense, passing or rebounding. If Jordan played longer his stats would be crazy, Jordan decided to stop playing its not cuz he had nothing left. MJ's game was beautiful to watch, Bron is boring, Larry Bird was more exciting. The greatest player of all time collected 22 trophies during his career including 6 NBA championships and 5 MVPs. Understand that you don’t get a trophy for getting 10,000 points or having pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most points ever scored in NBA. Fact is MJ accomplished more then anyone ever to play the game in there whole career. Think what ever you want but MJ played the game individually better then anyone ever to play and the evidence is what he accomplished in his whole Career. It’s simple kids the kid in school with straight A’s doesn’t mean he will be more successful in the game of life. shit what did you accomplish? What did you accomplished!? P.s MJ is the only player in NBA history to win the scoring title and defense player of the year. Do you understand!? Lebron will go down as the "Stat GOAT" cause he has spends $1mil a year on his body. Training and condition in the 90's is not what it is in the 2000's which makes the difference for a longer career. Lebron is "Respected" in the league but he's not "Feared" by any players and never was, those things matter. I watched Jordan's whole career and Lebron's thus far and LeBron isn't better than Kobe in my opinion having watched his full career was well. Lebron's biggest fault was/is his mind set. Jordan,Bird,Magic,Kobe they all had that killer instinct from day one and Lebron never had it. It's not just numbers but attitude ,presents of mind, performance in the clutch (wanting the ball when it matters most) then the stats have meaning and context. That just what I think anyway.

You are the first reactor to this that I’ve seen take a second look over the career stats. MJ still has 300 more steals? Not to mention LeBron started putting up numbers towards his total numbers at age 18. Jordan didn’t start until 22. He missed all 18 games in his second season and the missed almost two entire seasons in his prime. These things aren’t Lebrons fault but I think it’s fair to say that MJ’s scoring numbers would be much closer to Kareems. Not to mention at 6’6 those blocks are STILL really close. Kobe has only about 1,000 points on MJ and also started at age 18. If you think about it, Kareem didn’t even start playing until 22. It’s hard because it sounds like I’m ragging on LeBron. He still has so much athletic skill at his age but to say his “bag” is bigger is just simply not true. He has the same footwork as he’s had for years. It’s almost a three or a dunk. His defense has become almost non-existent. The difference between him and the other players like Kobe, Wade, Carter and Dirk is that they all either played close to 82 games every season and other than Wade, LeBron is the first of those who started playing with “load management”. That’s going to take some tread off. At this point LeBron is a scorer. That it. His assists are down 1.5 from last year and almost 2.0 for his career. Again, this wouldn’t be a huge deal at his age but the media just thinks it needs a GOAT debate to drive up ratings and “all time better stats” is the only thing it feels it has left. Stockton has more steals and assists than Magic. So then Stockton is the GOAT PG?

Great reaction to a great video! In my opinion LeBron had to endure a expectations nobody in the history of the NBA had to face, not even MJ, plus the many disappointments culminating with the 2011 finals made the media kill him, so the fact he was able to endure that and became the great basketball player he is, it's amazing, but we can't consider only the post 2011. Some are impressed by his longevity, but still he is and was since his first season big and strong, but being as he is, it's quite disappointing that he was named in the defensive 1st team only 6 times, compared to MJ 9 in 13 seasons with the Bulls and Kobe (who was a much more fragile player with so many injuries) with 9 time defensive first team and 3 time defensive second team; this shows LeBron is not a great defensive player and if that's not enough one can watch him play and notice it has been many season that LeBron rest on defense to be more effective on offense, but neither Kobe nore MJ were accused of rest on defense, not even at the end of their career. To me one to be the Goat in basketball must be consistent through his entire career in both offence and defense it's not enough to put huge numbers or to be high in totals, numbers don't tell the truth, eyes do!
