LeBron James exits the Los Angeles Lakers loss to the LA Clippers in the 4th quarter with an apparent leg injury. The Lakers have just two wins on the season. Kevin Durant led the Brooklyn Nets to a win over rival New York Knicks in the Nets first game since officially naming Jacque Vaughn Head Coach. I would love if these debates covered the teams that were winning games and playing great basketball.. The Lakers conversation is the same after every single loss… imagine if you shared great debates on Cleveland.. on Luka not only to make MVP debates but actually how his team is playing around him, Jason Tatum is having an amazing season, Steph is being amazing again…

Nick seriously downplays how great Duncan was in those last 2 finals. He was averaging 18PPG and 16PPG in those playoff runs and in the regular season on minimal shooting. He was also a great rebounder and defender on top of that. LeBron only has better offensive stats because he shoots more often. His efficiency is around the same on far more touches. The reason the Spurs were able to be competitive in Duncan’s later years is because Duncan understood he was older. Bron still wants to pretend he’s in his Miami days.
@arsenioseslpodcast3143
@arsenioseslpodcast3143 Жыл бұрын
yeah, agreed. I was confused. I think Duncan was PARAMOUNT, along with the best supporting cast since their first/second championships. I'm like "without Duncan, no championship most definitely."

@Raymond Sims Karl Malone and Kareem were still all-stars putting up good numbers and winning enough to make the playoffs when they were the age Lebron is now, and in Kareem's case still winning championships while he was at it. Lebron is still putting up numbers but for one of the worst if not the worst team in the league so his opponents don't care about his numbers.
@rovingwarrior3710
@rovingwarrior3710 Жыл бұрын
@Raymond Sims I mentioned Karl Malone and Kareem since Nick mentioned that nobody was better than him at his current and I want to make them a part of that discussion the I don't need your permission. And you mentioned what Lebron did two seasons ago in a season that was shortened, delayed and extended due to the pandemic which would benefit older players more than anyone else and no other time in NBA history did those circumstances exist in a season,. And Nick's statement was about who was better than Lebron at his current age, not his age two years ago. If you go back to Lebron's age two years ago then you go back to what Karl and Kareem did at the same age you'll see Karl being named NBA MVP and Kareem also being named finals MVP and that was in a full season that wasn't delayed half a year.
@rovingwarrior3710
@rovingwarrior3710 Жыл бұрын
@Raymond Sims First lets keep this a mature discussion and not resort to name calling. Agree? What's funny is your saying I only commented on the last part of what you said, whatever that happened to be because I don't remember and I sure don't feel like reading it again. But in fact when I said Lebron's 2020 finals mvp award came in a season unlike any other you only focused on the shortened season part. I also pointed out that season was delayed about half a year and didn't finish until a year or more after it started, That would certainly give older players like Lebron was an advantage getting that long of a break to finish the season.
@rovingwarrior3710
@rovingwarrior3710 Жыл бұрын
@Raymond Sims Lad huh? You must be the youngster in this convo if you can't see something as simple and obvious as an older BB player having an advantage by getting more time to rest and you must have a problem with common sense or are still an adolescent in which case I will excuse you and apologize but I'm not going to make it my responsibility to explain it to you. And I don't agree that Lebron is the goat but I've had that debate too many times already and I'm tired of it and not about to go through it again.

I’ll never understand the obsession with Kyrie Irving, outside of LeBron every single team he’s ever played on has either been better without him or not worse without him. Those early Cavs teams could not have lost more games if Kyrie wasn’t there, the Celtics proved multiple years they were better when Kyrie was off the floor and wasn’t there, the nets were clearly better the year KD didn’t play when Kyrie was off the court and now we’re seeing it again this year. Basketball culture is so stupid people love highlights and ignore the fact that these players aren’t actually good when the ultimate goal in winning.

Been saying it for years. Superstars don't win championships, TEAMS win championships. What I love is the role players and stars are closing the gap on SuperStars in terms of shooting. Now ANYBODY can go off and drop 20 to 30 points in a playoff game now. The ability to bring in key guys who can play strong in the playoffs when the opposing teams double your Superstars is CRUCIAL. Not to mention...defense!!!

@@brianhoneycutt5938 It just proves Lebron's basketball knowledge isn't unlimited. He's human, and he was just doing what he knows, conjuring up Fast Food championships by partnering with other superstar players. It worked for him 3times before. He went to the well one time too many, or it's just an issue of him failing to recognize the landscape of the NBA game has changed and it's more about shooting, than it is about guys that can drive & dunk. Either way this is a failure primarily of his own making. Rob Pelinka just hasn't done much of anything to prevent it or rectify it.

There’s only a handful of players who played their 20th season 😂 he is definitely not top 15 right now, let alone top 5. And if you’re gonna reward him for peak performance for 19 years, penalize him for only winning 4 chips in as many years

A player on Mount Rushmore can’t have excuses for losing. Period. When did lebribs greatness actually translate to a title. Only his first chip in Miami. The 3 others it took luck his skills were not enough it took injuries and ray Allen to hit a miracle shot after Lebrun bricked it

LeBron is 37. In Karl Malone's season at age 37, their numbers are very comparable, and I'll argue that Karl played better defense and team basketball at that point. Keep in mind, Karl was still battling against Duncan, Webber, Wallace, Garnett, McDyess, Nowitzki; all of which were in the Western Conference. That Utah Jazz team finished with 53 wins. Their second and third leading scorers were Donyell Marshall and Bryon Russell. Olden Polynice at 36 years old was their starting Center. So, when Nick and Chris say that LeBron is unmatched at this point in his career, I have to disagree. Also, Karl played in 81 games that season.

@@reasedogable I didn't back it up with facts, just "arguing" that Karl was a better defender at age 37. I watched them both play, and in my opinion, he's a better defender at 37, but I don't claim to be an expert.

It is BAFFLING to me that "the media" CONTINUE to make excuses for a team with THREE HOFers and blame everyone except the "best player" especially since EVERYONE says "how smart" he is PLUS how he ALWAYS makes his teammates better but all of a sudden he can't "figure it out" (as Kobe would say) and get ZERO blame for his team being bad as the "best player" with THREE HOFers...... THREE!!!!!!! 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

Wildes: How about New Orleans Anthony Davis decides to show up with Lebron out? Broussard: He's not even that guy anymore Wildes: Why? Is he 37 years old? Love this exchange. AD is so disappointing. I personally think it's a combo of injuries , his body breaking down and mindset.
