Most of Lebron’s shots happen at the rim while Kobe’s were in the mid-range so Lebron should have a higher shooting percentage. Most often Kobe was double and triple teamed as well… that happens when you’re THE superstar on your team. Lebron wouldn’t know what that feels like. Kobe’s shots also were also more difficult. Excluding the Shaq years Kobe was THE focal point of the opposing team’s defense. Kobe didn’t have the benefit of playing with superteams nearly every season like LeBron. After leaving Cleveland, LeBron was never THE main star on any of his teams; he was ONE of the stars but not the main star. I’m certain playing with other superstars, while also playing only one 82 game season in 21 seasons, helps with longevity as well. “Lebron spends a million dollars on his body”… it must be from the cost of his shopping sprees and spa treatments from all the games he’s missed. During Kobe’s prime the NBA played at a slower pace with less possessions per game, as compared to LeBron. Just for context, Kobe averaged 35.4 per game in 05-06 when the league ppg average was only 97 points. If the pace during that era were adjusted to today’s pace, Kobe would average 40 comparably. If you added the lack of defense it’d probably balloon up to 50. Context matters. Lebron has played with the most NBA All-Stars and Hall of Famers of any superstar in NBA history. Lebron teams have also been involved in more player trades at 118 (… and counting) as compared to Kobe teams at only 56. Stacking your teams with top tier players obviously makes the game easier when the pressure is not completely on your shoulders… right? Context matters. During the Kobe championship runs he played more 50 plus win teams at 35 with a record of 25-10 as compared to Lebron’s 10-9. This is what’s meant by Lebron played weaker competition and so it makes it a disingenuous argument to compare what is statistically incomparable.
