Good video. I think the big gear being the low gear and the little gear being the high gear confuses a lot of beginners. I have ridden and repaired my own bicycles all my life and it still gets me sometimes!

I've got the XP Lite, single speed. I'd say if you're in a higher gear at a complete stop, just use a little throttle to get you going without peddling. .

If my bike goes up to 20mph, I'd rather the single gear. I went with the lectric XP lite 2.0. 7speed is better on a regular bike.

I'm new to the Lectric, and I find myself using only the higher gears and and PAS levels 1-3. PAS 4 and 5 seem to have little effect on my XP 2.0, and in lower gears, I never feel much resistance. Is this common, or am I doing it all wrong?

I feel a big difference between PAS 3, 4, and 5. The lower gears are mostly for steep climbs or just getting moving from a stop. When I did the climb test up Pilot Butte I was in the lowest gear on the original freewheel (28t) and cruised up at about 9mph. So it really depends on the incline and rider weight. I'm pretty big. On flat ground PAS 3 is plenty to keep going fast. I also have mine set to 28mph top speed.

I don't understand what the lower thumb button does on the shifter control? Does it go thru 7 gears twice like 7 lower & 7 higher to have 14 gears???

You are teaching them well. 👍 I use a Microshift shifter & a 11 to 28 freewheel. I top out about 26 mph. I weigh 236 & still have strong legs for my age.

I think so. There are some things I'd change, but I have videos for everything I've changed so far. What you get for the price, it's a pretty good deal.

Hi Danny, I only have the Lectric XP 2.0, the Rad Expand 5, and my Haibike All Mtn 6. Th Rad Expand has better power and range than the Lectric. All in all I think it is the better bike, but it costs more - around $1599 - alnk.to/7qfErhS + $99 for the better display - bit.ly/3yOT6FN The Lectric XP 2.0 is a much better deal at $999, but I did make a bunch of upgrades to it. Both have throttle but you can just pedal, I mostly use the pedal assist.

I have been watching your videos and purchased the 11-34 freewheel. However when I took it to a bike shop to have it installed I was told it would not work because I would need a 'mega range" derailer. Is this true or would it have worked and they gave me wrong info? They said the 11-28 would be fine but I'd really like better hill climbing as well as top speed if possible. Can you please help clarify this for me? I dont know if I need to return the 11-34 and get the 11-28 or just find a different bike shop?

Hi Brian, the derailleur that comes on the Letcric XP 2.0 is the Tourney RD-TY300-SGS and it is a mega range derailleur. Sounds like you may have gotten a lazy mechanic. I've worked with many. If you'd like to go back to that shop and drop some knowledge on them you can say "This is the Tourney RD-TY300-SGS derailleur and if they look it up on GBP (they'll know what GBP is, hopefully) they will see that the max size sprocket it can handle is a 34 tooth and will work just fine." Or, just go to a different shop that will know this already. The 11-34t freewheel is the better option if you want the climbing gear. If you plan to use the climbing gear a lot, the Shimano Acera derailleur is much better and here is how you can install that if you like -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/haLWgoCgqtKghZo

Thank you very much for the info. At the time it was supposed to be installed I was already paying for the installation of the Tanus Armour tire protectors so the rear wheel was already off and should have been an extra 3 minutes of work to swap the freewheel. I think I'm gonna go back to the same shop and speak to the manager presenting them the info you have provided and hopefully they can give me a discount on putting it on since it was their mistake and it should have already been put on while it was easy with the wheel already off the bike. @@brianmoulton5750 Bummer, they could have just swapped that out really quick. Just know that the stock Tourney derailleur is not thrilled to go down into the 34t gear but it will. They will have to tighten the B screw but it works and it's rated for a 34 tooth largest (lowest) rear gear

Another good video. My Lectric XP 3.0 was delivered this month (Aug 2023). On my first long ride, I noticed either lag or free play when shifting gears. That is, there is lag before the new gear engages. I am pedalling when shifting gears. Why does this occur? Is the issue caused by the Tourney derailleur or the "ramps" on the free wheel? Is there a solution ?

For every complete rotation of the peddles I get a "Clunk." I've just started learning how to adjust the detailer but don't know exactly where the "clunk" is coming from.

@@PedalWithPower I changed both parts out at 4 miles of riding so I don't have much to compare the difference. My wife's bike is still stock so I'll be able to see a difference. I can say that it was pretty easy to hit 28mph on my bike

Good coverage of shifting. I learned a thing or two. I'd be interested in more information about the interplay between PAS levels and gear shifting. When and how to strategically use both functions, at what speeds, under what terrain conditions. I'd also like your thoughts on starting from a stop. I learned in motorcycle training to always come to a stop in 1st gear to be prepared for emergency exiting (in case the car behind you fails to stop). I also learned in motorcycle training to learn and practice the right technique and not rely on technology to save me (such as anti-lock brakes). I've taken what I've learned on a motorcycle and transferred those lessons to e-bikes. However, I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong. Maybe the way to do things on an e-bike is different. Instead of practicing downshifting to 1st gear and changing PAS level "1" when coming to a stop, I should be practicing emergency starts using throttle-only?

I think it could go even faster, but keep in mind the long term use. You don't want to fry out the motor too quickly

@@PedalWithPower Your correct. I have a motor shop in my neighborhood that can rebuild the motor in two days. I can replace the motor unit respoke and tru the wheel in about 3hours.
