Thank you. This helped me from buying and throwing parts at it (Pro-Form XP 650E). I originally thought it might be the drive motor then I thought it could be the motor control board. With the explanation of the blinking light, it was identified as the need for more lubricant for the belt. I followed your video on belt lubricant and it is back up and "running" again. Thank you.

Man, you just saved me a fortune and my exercise in the coronavirus lockdown. Took the motor out yesterday and checked it using the cordless drill power pack trick. Put it back in and was getting two blinking lights. Must've knocked connector to the controller board so took them all out, put them all back in and bingo! One fixed machine. Thank you very much!

@@denislenihan7848 the led should be blinking when it receives a speed signal from the console. if you have started a workout and the speed is set above 0 mph the LED should be blinking. If it is not then you may have a damaged blue wire in the wire harnesses connecting the console to the controller or a bad console.

All I did was move my golds gym 410 treadmill downstairs to the garage, & now the belt is not moving whatsoever. Everything else functions except the belt. I can move the belt manually though. I checked all the wiring & see no problems @ all. I am so bummed & confused. It was working fine upstairs in my room, but all of a sudden, it doesn't. What could be the issue? Hi there, wondering if you have any ideas for a Nordic Track S30 where nothing is powering up now. Looking at the red controller board led when you plug in power it lights up very dim and is kind of flickering it gradually gets slightly brighter over 20seconds and you can then tell its a very fast flash. After about 30seconds the dim flashing stops it does one fully bright light up for a second then goes off and stays off. Only way to repeat is powering off for a few mins. Any ideas I'm trying to figure out if it could need a new board, transformer or something else. Thanks in advanced.

Ok. Have a nordictrack X9i that does everything normal but after a short time goes into fold back mode (with a heavier user) (slow flashing constant pattered). Now this is a bought used treadmill with some miles on it and no record of when it was serviced/belt changed. So I have already bought and am waiting for a new belt and a deck service kit /w/ lubricant so that it’s back to like new friction wise. My question is, I ran amp probe check on the power lead for the treadmill with a heavier user and it doesn’t seem to go above 8 amp draw (obviously fluctuates when stepping) when it backs off (speed slows down) in fold back mode. My question is can the controller board go into fold down mode earlier (at lower current draw) if it has entered fold down mode numerous times before (assuming the previous owner kept using the TM with a high friction issue for a long time) ie. a weakened controller. I know that circuits specs can drift do to constantly being overdrawn. Is that something you have seen in the past? Do we know how fold down mode works....is it a heat sensor on the board backing the motor power down, or is it an amperage sensor for a specific time that starts fold down mode. Is there a way to actually know at what load the fold back occurs, and a way to confirm it’s proper operation. I believe that changing the belt and deck should fix the problem but I’m concerned that when fold back occurred, it was below the 8-10 amps that would indicate a properly running treadmill. (It also could be that the amp probe isn’t fast enough to catch the higher current fluctuations and is giving a lower average reading), so there’s that too. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I have a Proform 505 CST, MN: PFTL60916.5 purchased December 2019. Hasn't been used over the winter. Now the belt does not move at all. Panel works as expected (speed setting can be adjusted, timer starts counting up as if in operation), incline function works as expected. Solid red indicator light on controller board. No blinking at all when speed controls are used. Harness wires seem to be in good condition (machine has not been moved). What could be the problem?
@FitnessEquipmentHelp
@FitnessEquipmentHelp 3 жыл бұрын
That's odd. When the controller (lower circuit board ) receives a speed signal from the console along the blue harness wire it should either start blinking normally or throw an error code. What you describe would indicate that the console is not transmitting the speed control signal or the wire harness is in fact at fault.

This video is for treadmill motor controllers. The patterns for the bike controllers and treadmill incline controllers for use with DC lift motors are very different. Usually 4 pause(x), blink errors mean it didn't get a response from the incline motor it was expecting and 6 Pause(x), blink errors mean it didn't receive input from the resistance motor when it didn't receive feed back. it does not necessarily mean the controller is bad.

Hi Team, I have Reebok One GT40s treadmill and using this information about blink pattern. It is indicating problem with Upright Cable. @FitnessEquipmentHelp
@FitnessEquipmentHelp 5 жыл бұрын
This video is only applicable to units using the MC2100, MC5100, and MC16XX series motor controllers. The E2 error in tour consoles indicates the console has not received a speed sensor signal when it is expecting to see one. i am guessing that the belt does not operate before you get this error. if so likely you need a new motor controller. if the belt runs for several seconds before this error comes up then the belt stops you may need to adjust your speed sensor. This adjustment is usually in your users manual.

My treadmill proform XT 70 shut down completely with Tripp in my wall circuit breaker , after reset my circut braker I checked the control board, and it has a solid red light. What would be the issue typically in situations like this?
@FitnessEquipmentHelp
@FitnessEquipmentHelp 7 жыл бұрын
The most common reasons for your homes circuit breaker to trip when you start the motor are using the treadmill on a circuit that may be overloaded and using the treadmill on a circuit with an Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) type breaker. The treadmill used a large amount of power, (amps), particularly when starting up or increasing the speed of the belt. It is recommended that the treadmill be on a dedicated circuit capable of providing at least 15 amps. Dedicated means that the only thing that losses power when the breaker trips is the treadmill. If other devices must be on the circuit then they should be very low draw devices like the light in the room or possibly a cell phone charger or the like. If too many devices are on the same circuit when the treadmill tries to start up the breaker will trip as more amps than the breaker is rated for is trying to be pulled through the circuit. If your treadmill is on a dedicated circuit you should see if you are on an AFCI protected circuit. The breaker should say AFCI or ARC Fault on it. These are a relatively new type of circuit breaker. If your home was built in the last 15 or so years it likely has AFCI breakers in the bedrooms. Homes built even more recently were required by code to have them on all circuits. AFCI breakers are designed to detect signals that look like sparks and shut off power to the circuit before these sparks can cause a fire. The problem is many appliances including treadmills generate signals that are similar to the ones AFCI breakers are designed to detect. Some AFCI breakers are not sophisticated enough to tell the difference. Google "AFCI nuisance tripping" and you will find that along with treadmills, people have had issues with many types of products tripping their AFCI circuit breakers. To relieve this you can try plugging your treadmill into a noise filter. Your owner's manual likely mentions that you can get one from customer service. there are also other commercially available noise filters such as the Tripp-lite Isobar line of surge protectors.

Watched your video and did what you stated, but no luck. Light is solid red light. Not blinking. The panel shows it to be stuck on calibrating. I unplugged. Checked the wiring harness to make sure everything was plugged in and tight. It was. Any thoughts?
@FitnessEquipmentHelp
@FitnessEquipmentHelp 6 жыл бұрын
The LEDs only Show an error blink in response to a speed signal. If your console is calibrating the incline (or thinks that it is) no speed signal will be received by the controller and the light will remain in the ready (on solid ) state. If your console does not end its calibration there may be an issue with the console not the controller.

I have an Xterra tr6.4 folding treadmill. It was working fine and then I moved. The movers spliced thru a set of wires so I thought that was the issue. I replaced that with the company but my monitor still doesn't even light up.. I am getting power at the base because I see things lit up. How do I get to the LED panel to look and see if it's any of these issues?
@FitnessEquipmentHelp
@FitnessEquipmentHelp 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not personally familiar with the Xterra brand of treadmill however almost all treadmills have some kind of lower controller board near where the motor is located. The information in this video will not apply to that manufacturers product but checking the wires to the lower control board is a good place to start. Be cautions and unplug the treadmill before you work on it. ;) You may find instructions to access the lower control board in your manual or online from Xterra directly.

I have a Nordictrack C1570 Pro and the red LEDLight on the control board does not come on. I have confirmed that I have power at the wall location and at the off reset switch. I even confirmed that I have power coming out of the switch to the board but still no red led light. Does this mean the board is bad? I have a wire diagram but it does not show the key circuit. Can you help me understand How that circuit works? Thanks
@FitnessEquipmentHelp
@FitnessEquipmentHelp 6 жыл бұрын
The key switch is like the on off for the console. The controller should have the red led illuminated and be sending about 9-12VDC to the console on the red wire in the main wire harness regardless to if the key is in the console or not. If you have the ability to check you should have ~120VAC at the hot and neutral wires on the motor controller. if you have voltage out if the switch but not at the controller then you may have a loose or disconnected wire or a thermal switch within the motor that is stuck open.

Looking for help Nordictrack 2450, the control board has solid lit red and green LED. The "power board" has a continuously flashing red led.
@FitnessEquipmentHelp
@FitnessEquipmentHelp Жыл бұрын
The newer model NordicTracks have Changed the incline system to use a DC powered lift motor. that includes the addition of new circuit boards to run the DC lift motor. The red light on the motor controller as seen in this video is the same for drive motor function however. because the light is on solid and not blinking it indicates the speed control signal did not reach the motor controller. (it does not know it should be powering the drive motor). Assuming the console has started a workout (it is counting time and distance) then that red LED should be blinking. Since the incline is also not working I would suspect one of the wires that communicated from the console down to the Incline motor controller (has the red light that flickers that is ground underneath the mounting bracket) That is the first stop for Both the incline and speed signals. If these wires are connected correctly and intact. I would have the Incline motor controller replaced.

+A.J. huang If the red LED is lit on the controller under the motor hood then it is likely that the issue would be localized to the console. Hi Jose. The letters SB on the display indicate the the console is getting input from 2 different buttons at the same time or is getting input when it is not expecting any. The letters stand for "Stuck Button".Some times pressing or rubbing on the buttons can cause a stuck one to free up. If that does not work then you may need to replace the component on which the stuck button is located. Usually this means the console.

@FitnessEquipmentHelp
@FitnessEquipmentHelp 6 жыл бұрын
If the light doesn't remain on solid when the treadmill is in an idle state, (no speed signal to the controller). it indicates that either the board isn't receiving voltage orthere is a problem within the controller using the incoming power to power on the treadmill. my guess is that you also do not have power to the console, is that correct? if the light is on momentarily when the reset switch is set to on it would seem that the controller is receiving some power. if i had to guess i would say the controller is needing to be replaced. This could be verified if you have a multimeter and can check to see that you have 120VAC (wall outlet power) at the AC hot and AC neut Connectors on the controller.

I want to make sure I was following you. you are saying that without anyone walking on the treadmill the belt will slow down and speed up? this can be a few things and you most likely will not be able to confirm it without additional diagnostic tools but I think it is most likely a controller issue. If the speed signal to the controller is constant but the voltage to the motor is dipping down enough to slow the motor noticeably then the issue is likely the voltage coming out of the controller. the other options would be that the signal coming out of the console is dipping or that the motor is failing.

Hi. I hope you can help me with this. When I start the treadmill on any speed the red light has a steady blink and running normal. After about 3-5 minutes the treadmill stops running and the light begins a blink pattern. At this point when I step off of the treadmill, the treadmill begins running again but the light remains with a blink pattern. If I step on the treadmill again while the light is still in blink pattern, the treadmill stops running again. If I step off the treadmill for about a minute, the light starts a steady blink pattern again, meanwhile the treadmill is still running. If I get on the treadmill at this point it will run for 3-5 minutes and the process begins over again. I am able to turn the belt by hand so it is most likely not a seized drive motor. The walking belt is also well lubricated. Thanks in advance for your help. Looking forward to hear from you.

how would you describe the blink pattern when the belt stops. sounds like you may be running the motor near the current limit. this is usually because of worn out components. You may need to replace the walking belt or lubricate the deck.

Not Likely. Most errors are internal to the controller itself. External things to look out for that effect controllers include power surges (make sure to use a surge protector as indicated in the manual) and worn out or over tightened components like a worn out walking belt.

@FitnessEquipmentHelp Жыл бұрын
The power board on that elliptical has a red and green light that should be on all the time indicating it is receiving 120Vac from the wall and its should be sending 12Vdc to the console. This is probably obviously working since the console is on. There is no LED for any resistance functions. the signals just pass through the board. The other two lights are also red and green. One of these lights comes on anytime the power board is receiving an incline up signal from the console, the other comes on anytime it is receiving an incline down signal from the console. (The indication for up and down may differ depending on the configuration of the elliptical). Neither of the lights should be blinking. If the incline red and green lights are blinking I would suspect an intermittent signal reaching the board. First try an incline calibration (instructions for your model should be in your users manual). Then if the blinking continues I would suspect a pinch or damaged wire harness and replace or repair that before I would replace a console.

I have a ProForm, the belt randomly stopped working. The video doesn’t say what the potential issue could be for a steady blinking light. @FitnessEquipmentHelp
@FitnessEquipmentHelp 6 ай бұрын
the steady blinking light should mean that the Controller is receiving a speed control signal from the console and is out-putting DC voltage to the drive motor. if that is the case then there may be an issue with the drive motor, or the wires between the drive motor and the controller.

if the red light is on solid and not blinking then a speed signal has not been received by the controller. It will blink when you start the workout on the console. If the console is running a workout (time counting & speed displaying above 0) then it usually indicated a damaged wire and the speed signal is not making it to the lower board/controller.

The 4 blink error on the controller indicates that the controller has failed. some causes may be power surges as well as high motor amp draw. Make sure your belt is lubricated it is not uncommon to need to lubricate the belt annually depending on use. Always use your treadmill plugged into a surge protector.

You will need to make sure the magnetic safety key is in place on the console. If you are getting power to the console and the key is in place then you should check the wires between the key switch and the console. (Usually the console will blink for just a second when the power switch is turned on indicating power to the console. You may need a second person to flip the switch while you observe if the console lights.)

the controller is detecting a high amp draw situation. the motor is needing to work harder than expected for some reason. this is usually due to worn out belts on older equipment or belts that are too tight if the machine is new or doesn't have much use. Make sure you only use the manufactures recommended performant lube. Many Off the shelf lubricants can interact with what is on the belt and actually cause friction issues.

When the belt stops does the led light on the controller (shown in this video also stop)? Is this occurring in a manual workout? This is almost certainty an issue with the console. If the speed/incline is changing on the console and the machine is performing what the console displays then it is not likely a controller issue. Most people that have the machine change on them are in some kind of preset workout, that's why I ask about if you are doing manual workouts. Also is the treadmill on a dedicated circuit and does this happen with no user on the machine?

If the treadmill is operational (incline/Belt Speed) but the console does not display anything, it is likely a problem within the console display itself. The controller motors and sensors all would seem to still be working and responding to the console inputs. In these cases the console usually needs to be replaced.

First start fresh, unplug the machine, make sure the outlet isn't GFCI (has a reset button on the outlet), many treadmills don't work well with those. Plug it back in, insure the reset switch is in the reset position (on), and insert the safety key. if the machine is still not powering. unplug from the wall and make sure all the wires under the motor hood are connected and not damaged. you many need to call ProForm customer care if the problem continues.

it really seems you don't have communication or power from the Brain board (PCB) in the console to the tablet. there should be a wire header on the tablet labeled "Keys" this should be where the tablet gets its information that the key switch is on the console. if you have voltage to the key switch then the controller is producing the voltage and it is being received by the console PCB. seems you may have a brain board issue with the console not sending voltage and signals to the tablet.

the 4 flash error means one of the mos-fets on the board has failed. I know high amperage through the board can cause those to fail. You will need a new controller. you may want to make sure your belt is in good condition, lubricated and adjusted properly (as loose as possible w/out slipping) to make sure the amp load of the motor is reduced to prevent possible future failure. I always recommend a surge protector. A power surge can also cause controller failure but that dos not sound like you had this particular issue.

You are welcome. w/out a multimeter it is hard to say for sure but if the console is acting like it is working then it probably is. The fact that the belt moves for a few seconds indicated that the speed signal is reaching the controller (lower circuit board) at least to begin with. Normally the LED on the controller going solid should indicate that the speed signal is no longer being received, which would make me suspect the upright wire. That wire can usually be visually inspected and unless you have moved the machine or re-assembled it for some reason then I don't know why it would spontaneously fail, (especially at about 5 seconds into a workout consistently). So I would think that the issue would be with the motor controller circuit board (even though usually I would expect it to be throwing some error code like in this video. Even though it is not throwing the error I think it is the most likely part.

It depends on the motor controller. some of the newer controllers have a LED that indicated when the incline up or incline down signal is being received from the console. (Not a blink though). your description of the console moving up a little then down a little while trying to calibrate is indeed indicative of the console not receiving an incline sensor signal when it is expecting one. Here are a few more questions... #1 Is it common for the incline motor to over incline breaking the belly pan if the incline sensor or wire is bad? @FitnessEquipmentHelp 4 жыл бұрын
@@davidlovato5330 The incline senor "lives in the incline motor next to the main gear that has magnets embedded in it. the gears are greased up so it is fine if the sensor has grease on it. It wont effect the sensors ability to detect the magnets. It sounds like during the calibration process something in the motor broke. It might be helpful to understand what is happening during calibration. the console sends the incline up signal to the motor. The motor extends until it physically can no longer move due to some sort of physical stop. Usually internal to the motor. Once the motor "jams" the magnet in the gears no longer pass the sensor and the console stops sending the incline up signal after about 1-2 seconds of not getting a reading from the magnet sensor. The console then turns around and sends the incline down signal till the motor "jams" in the down ward direction. It stops sending power to the motor when again it doesn't get a sensor signal for about 1-2 seconds. While traveling down it counts the number of magnet passes from the highest position to the lowest position. the console uses the number of magnet passes to calculate the different incline positions for the machine. If the motor is turning on in calibration and stopping after about 2 seconds and going back after about 2 seconds then the console is not getting a sensor signal. After what you describe it could be because the motor has broken. No, this is not very common. The incline motors tend to be the most robust component on the treadmills. They are designed to lift the weight if the deck/frame and a user while the user is running on the machine.

@@davidlovato5330 If the issue did not follow the motor then it is sounding likely that the issue is with another component. The only thing I can say for certain is if the incline moves up a little then down a little in calibration then the incline signal did not reach the console when the console was expecting it. Anything between the motor (sensor in the motor) and the console is suspect. If you believe the motor is intact you can plug the good motor into the suspect treadmill and it should give you the same error. then you would know it is an issue with the controller or wires.

The error you are seeing is indicating a high amp draw. the motor is pulling more amperage than expected and the controller is shutting it down until the amp draw is normal. This is usually because of over tightened walking belts or belts in need of lubrication. on older machines or machines with a lot of use it can indicate a worn out walking belt. This can also occur if foreign substances get under the belt causing friction. In rare cases it can be worn out or defective rollers or motor... anything that causes the motor to work harder and the amps to peak on the treadmill. Continued use at high amp draw can damage the motor controller itself.

I had just replaced the wire harness with a new replacement sent to me. The led on the controller board is solid red. But the display on the console still only turns on for a second. Could it be the ground wire?
@FitnessEquipmentHelp

units with a led or lcd (not a tablet) display will power on for a second then go off when the power switch is turned on if the safety key is not present. If there is a problem with the key switch you will get the same functionality. The latest non tablet consoles, (the ones with Bluetooth connectivity for iFit), will also will also beep when the buttons are pressed when no key is present. This would indicate that there is power reaching the console.

If the light does not blink when the speed on the console is set above 0MPH/KPH then either the console is not sending a speed signal to the controller or the wire harness from the console to the controller is broken damaged or disconnected somewhere between the two components.

Hello - the LED is flickering ( a steady blink?). The only issue is the walking belt isn't moving. The incline works and all displays are working. I tested the motor with a battery and it works and powers the walking board. The wiring seems to be ok. Appears I need to replace one of the circuit boards. Do I replace the board with the LED lights ( the INCLINE board) or the other circuit board ( Motor circuit board - with the black & red wiring to the motor). What are next steps to get this? Thanks!
@FitnessEquipmentHelp
@FitnessEquipmentHelp 3 жыл бұрын
a regular blink on the controller should indicate power is being sent to the motor on the black and red wires. If it is an error blink (a cirtain number of blinks and a pause) then the controller should be replaced. if you have confirmed your motor and wires then i would replace the controller if the light is responding (blinking) to the incoming speed signal.

I am not familiar with Life Fitness products. I would first recommend you reach out to them. I think it is a good sign that it will run for a time before erroring out. does it error out with no user on it. If so the issue may be electrical and i would check to see if that screen prompt means the controller should be replaced. If it only occurs when there is a user on the machine I would make sure all the regular maintenance for belt adjustments and lubricating the machine is done. The controller error may be indicating a high amp draw and shutting down the treadmill.

I apologize, I should have read your first post closer. This video is designed for trouble shooting controllers from another manufacturer, Icon Health & Fitness. Icon does not make Xterra treadmills. I am not as familiar with Xterra machines but i would check to see if you have a speed sensor that is unplugged or in need of adjustment. Your treadmill console may be looking for a speed signal from this sensor and is shutting down the belt when it is not receiving the information it is looking for from the speed sensor.

Most LED Error Blink codes indicate an internal problem with the controller. Regardless of the number of blinks the troubleshooting is the same. First turn the power off. Verify all the wire connections are in place, including where the wires connect to the motor, and that there are no damaged wires under the motor hood. Finally if the error returns the next time you send a speed signal, then the controller should be replaced. To answer specifically this error (7 blinks) is in relation to the SCR circuit on the controller that is not functioning properly and indicated that the controller should be replaced.

the red wire from the controller should carry 9-12 VDC anytime there is a green light on that controller. If you are getting voltage at the controller but not at the top of the harness then you would like need to repair or replace the upright wire. if the voltage is at the top of the wire then a console inset will likely be needed. The green light should be indicating the controller is generating the 9-12 VDC needed. of course if you have no voltage at the controller (despite the green light) then your controller would be faulty.

@@michelle1colorado If the console is not receiving power and you are sure the wires are intact then there is either a issue with the controller not sending power or the console doesn't respond when powered on and you would want to replace the controller or the console. Typically you would need a voltage multimeter to test for the issue. If the red and green light are on the controller, then the controller at least believes it is producing the power required for the console; so would indicate a console issue.

The four blinks indicate the Fett controller is bad. You will need another controller. Make sure that the motor and belt are in good condition. A high amp draw may contribute to the Controller failure. Although it could just be a bad replacement part. I have seen it happen and the replacement part should have a 90 Day guarantee if purchased from the manufacturer.

Reviewed this a couple times, my situation doesn’t match any patterns in the video. On occasion, the treadmill slows to a stop until I get off of the belt; red light will go through several long, slow blinks over 6-7 seconds before catching up and going back into rapid blinks. This seems to happen especially at slower speeds (walking); I’ve found myself hopping off the machine do it can ‘catch up’, then get back on hoping it’s working normally. I just replaced the controller (c960i), yet the same problems persist.
@FitnessEquipmentHelp

Long slow blinks indicate a high amp draw by the drive motor. I would look to sources of friction, such as over tightened belts, a walking belt that needs to be lubricated or even a worn out belt that needs to be replace.

usually they symptoms you describe are associated with the 4 blink error code demonstrated in this video. If the light is truly blinking continuously that would implicate the motor.
