They're so frigging gifted and were completely on the same wave length from the very beginning. Amazing how young they were here yet putting out such amazing music.

The entire performance, about 30 minutes long, is worth watching. You can hear John Paul Jones's bass louder than usual, and really appreciate it. Sometimes it sounds like he's playing both the bass notes and the notes that a rhythm guitarist would be playing, if they had one.

I just ran across your site and I like it a lot. One song I recommend highly is "Poem 58" from the first Chicago album (Chicago Transit Authority). It's like an anti-Chicago song because it sounds nothing like the later "Chicago sound", and highlights one of the greatest guitarists of all time, Terry Kath, who came to such a tragic end. If you do try it, look for the 2002 remaster, and definitely stay away from the 50th Anniversary remix.

Man, Robert was a force of nature in those early days. Well, they all were. I think it was Henry Rollins who said that you could tell in those days that they knew how great they were.

This is a song from the year 68, the beginning of Hard Rock, the amps at full blast forming a wall,,, the legacy of Zeppelin is enormous and eternal.

7-8 months actually. Plant and Page jammed for the first time in July 68 and the rest was history. This show is from March 69. The debut album was recorded during September-October 68. What’s even more crazy was during the time of this video performance, they were already starting to work on 2nd album, They recorded nearly every song at a different studio around the world on days off while playing their 69 tour. It’s crazy since they still sound very young in this video but sounded a lot more experienced on the 2nd album.
