The drums are 3 ply Classic Maple Ludwigs 14x26 bass drum, 10x14 rack tom, 16x16 floor tom, 16x18 floor tom, and a 6.5x14 Supraphonic snare drum with coated Remo Emperor heads on top and coated Ambassadors on the bottom and Emperors on the bass drum (no hole in the front head). Cymbals are Paiste 2002's at this time. They do sound great and this song grooves big time. If you listen closely, you can hear the Speed King foot pedal squeaking haha.

Jimmy's got such a unique cadence to his strumming and note playing, perhaps I've lost my inner clock count now. They are so tight; guitar, drums, bass.

If I'm not mistaken, this record, a double album, came out back in 1975. I remember getting it back in high school. It contains tracks that never made it on previous albums from Zeppelin II to "Houses of the Holy". This was written as the title track for that record but left off for some reason. There are tracks specifically written for "Physical Graffiti" , Kashmir comes to mind first. About half of the songs were just hanging out waiting for their turn.

Bonham's snare was one inch deeper than others that he slapped instead of beat. The rest is a shuffle and dead stops and flowered with guitar flourish and vocal mastery.

They recorded in a stately home, not a studio, giving the sound that sense of space, half the time they're live recordings with some doubling

Bonham had Ludwig’s, but each piece were larger then most drummers. I know I saw a piece on the sizes he has, I’m sure you could google it. It’s actually not a large kit as far as a bunch of pieces. I’m not sure if it’s true, but I thought I heard, he played with the fat end of his sticks. He also always made sure they were tuned perfectly. He was the greatest drummer ever. If you haven’t seen his 20 minute solo at Earls Court, called Moby Dick, I highly recommend it, shows just how great he is.

lol, this one was too easy for you. I can't stop laughing. I can't remember if this is my favorite song from Physical Graffiti but it definitely is one of the best. This is THEE album that helped me survive 8th grade. I remember coming home from school so many times feeling so depressed and Id head straight for the garage and throw this record on the turntable and start blasting my depression away. Yeah, my mom just loved me when I got home from school, I used to have it so loud, especially this song, that it would take her at least 6 times screaming my name through the side door of the garage before I could hear her screaming at me to turn it down. lol

Hey Chod, change of subject, a group from the early 70s that you've missed & should listen to is Rare Bird, I suggest Beautiful Scarlet. It's the type of group you like, keyboard heavy. As you say, you won't be disappointed.
