John Bohnam. Inspired the Muppets character Animal. Passed away way to early. The band never looked for another drummer. Led Zeppelin was officially over after his passing.

I knew a security guard who worked the Boston Tea Party back in the late 60's. He watched their warm up and was shocked, he said that in this warm up the drummer was yelling, screaming and growling while playing warm ups. He was still shocked telling the story decades later, and described him as an animal.

There was no discussion about it, they knew Bonham couldn’t be replaced, or any of them for that matter. They were all so close & so in sync, a quarter of the pie missing, was just not realistic for them.

During this era there were so many great drummers. Bonzo, Ginger Baker and Keith Moon just to name a few. Most of them were heavily influenced by great Jazz drummers like Buddy Rich.

Wow It's been a while since I've been to your channel!! Back for some LZ - John Bonham was only 20 years old when he started with Led Zepp. He was phenomenal from the outset. Led Zeppelin 1 album shows that! He is 21 at this gig. There was a number with an extended drum solo in almost all LZ concerts from the beginning - sometimes they were over 1/2 hour long. John is considered the greatest and most influential rock drummer of all time by many rock critics. Thanks for the reaction - love it. Hope maybe you'll get back into LZ ❤☮

Honestly they probably didn’t let John cook enough… Granted he cooked throughout every single track beginning to end, but live Zep doesn’t have a lot of iconic drum solos. This isn’t a critique, it’s just a fact. 2nd favorite band ever after the Beatles.

John (Bonzo) Bonham, played this solo about 209 times, he’s the greatest drummer ever. This song was originally called Pat’s Delight for his wife Pat, his son Jason called it Moby Dick, because it was his dads big song. Bonham married his wife Pat in (1966), they were high school sweethearts. Pat has never remarried, & still lives in the house on their farm. RIP John Henry (Bonzo) Bonham, millions of us still miss you.

That's some great information I never knew about John and his wife. I'm a huge fan of Zeppelin's music, but have never read any books about them. I know Bonham hated being on the road and away from his family. I've also read that he really didn't want to tour America in 1980 before his death. I've wondered if he had lived, if he would've refused.

@@richardheinz yes you have to wonder, I think though to Page & Bonham wanted the rock blues music, Plant & JPJ wanted to movie into the 80’s. You can hear the 80’s, in the album In Through The Out Door, what was done more by Plant & JPJ. I haven’t read any of the books, I’ve learned so much watching all the interviews, by each of them & about them. There is some things I don’t believe, I don’t believe all the bad crap said about them, I’m not saying they were angels. I think since they were more mysterious, lies were told too.

John's son Jason took the seat for Zeppelin''s 2007 final performance at the O2 in London. He also played with Heart for the 2012 Kennerdy Center performance of Stairway To Heaven infromt of the 3 remaining Led Zeppelin members.
