Thanks for playing my pick!!!... so yes I understand how you love seeing the live performances, we all do... but this is great example of why its important especially with Zeppelin to experience the original recordings as well... the creative genius starts with their creation of the song for the album. Jimmy can only play one guitar live, but he often overdubbed numerous guitars in the studio to create the effect he wanted and to give us his vision in a completed piece of music. In this case an acoustic guitar played in counterpoint at the same time as the heavy electric guitar plus overdubbed solo guitars played in harmony... PLUS Robert adding multiple voices as well... And the bass line and the drums can be heard SO clearly on the original recordings!!!... All four of them were masters in the studio.... Of course what Zep did with these songs live (sadly they never played this one) is an experience in itself.... SO, your only choice, even if you dont do it for us, is to listen to BOTH the studio and live versions, thats the BEST way to experience the mightly LED ZEPPELIN!!! Love ya and thanks!!!

@@ericbeggs746 yes I was at that 2007 show and sorry as much as I love Jason Bonham that’s not Led Zeppelin! Led Zeppelin without John Bonham is not Led Zeppelin. I was signed to Decca records when I was 15, I recorded in studios where The Beatles and Stones had worked. etc.,etc. ...and I'd rather listen to you both discuss your joy in music more than I would want to listen 90 percent of the musicians I know talk about it. I adore you both endlessly because there's nothing fake here. At least you give it an earnest blind reaction and your true thoughts. It's refreshing to see reactors genuinely interested in learning not just a flashy reaction and numbers. Both have their audience. ✌️ Music is my background for 5 decades. I've also watched over 40 music reactors for 4 years. I helped 3 reaction channels reach 100K behind the scenes. I hope that qualifies me or at least brings validity to my statement that there's nothing fake here on your channel since day one. Two of your biggest strengths is being humble and self depreciating. Thank you. as far as your reactions go they are pure and heartfelt. As for trained musicians and vocalists reactions, they spend more time trying to show you how smart they are which is a turn off. What makes your reactions so special is that you express how the music makes you feel instead of trying to come off as know it alls. There is something called a musicologist which is what a person is called that has no formal training but knows what they like to hear and can pick out unique sounds throughout the song. That's where I place you two. Keep them coming, you're doing great. Don't hate the haters, pray for them.

A lot of the studio versions are best for the first introduction to the song. Then you find live version, and not one, but many, and many more. Here, his voice is layered. You cannot do that on stage. Same with the harmonica in the "Levee song". Studio and live versions are both equally great, just different experiences.

Zeppelin, in Jimmy's own words, were 'light and shade'. By that he meant what you are talking about Andre; how they punch really hard but also have very soft folksy songs too. This one shows both sides. Robert's early lyrics were often sprinkled with Tolkien references. I think he swallowed 'Lord of the Rings' just before writing this.

Plant plays the harmonica, and he sings like he would play the harmonica to the song. That's about 70% of the magic, and of course his unique voice. Unfortunately he didn't take good care of his voice so by the mid 70's he was basically done and had to dramatically adjust the way he sings. The early Plant was gone, and never returned. I saw them on their very last tour, with Bonham, in 1980 and boy was he struggling. He also had the problem that the trio was so powerful that even in his prime he couldn't keep up with the power they were pumping out. Still the greatest band ever!

Most of the year, we listened to Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Wagner, Mozart, early American rag time music, origins of blues, country, and rock music. We had the class everyday right after lunch.
