I'M ENGLISH FROM BIRMINGHAM. I WAS AROUND IN THE 70s AND HAD ALL THE EARLY VOLUMES OF "ZEP". THIS ONE (RAMBLE ON) RATED TO ME HIGH UP THERE WITH MANY MORE TRACKS. I WAS VERY LUCKY TO BE AROUND THEN😁😁😁😁

5:40 There's a difference between "Remaster" and "Remix". If a song says "Remastered", it only means that it was optimized with new technologies to make it sound better/more clear (noise removal, etc.), but the mix is still the same as it was when it was released, so it is not a remix.
@dalmac59782 жыл бұрын
Remaster also has to do with adapting an analog recording to digital formats. This actually is a big deal.

John Paul Jones emphasizes 2 strings at a time on a few notes of the verse bass line. He is hitting octaves (Low E and fretted higher E, then low A and Fretted higher A )in unison to ring out that tone.
@mikefetterman67822 жыл бұрын
There were different engineers helping Jimmy do the recordings for each album, plus they did record in different places for the 2nd. JpJones was their secret weapon (being a studio musician friend of Jimmy's from the early 60s, and could play everything, bass, keys, guitar, mandolin,.....) The vocals, drums and guitar solos were obvious, Little Johnny stood on the side filling in all the holes.

Its WELL WORTH A LISTEN... ; ) Saw them in Brisbane the VULTURES , awesome. Saw zeppelin in 1984. STILL the best I ever saw....

A Robert Plant favorite. Another “Lord of the Rings” inspired songs. You know, it’s because of Led Zepplin that people started devouring J.R.R. Tolkien’s trilogy “Lord of the Rings” books. And because the books were flying off the shelves, Peter Jackson decided to make a trilogy of movies. So thanks, Led Zepplin! One more thing: John Paul Jones’ bass is beautiful.

Good to see you get back to some Zep. Great song by best band ever. ;) This song was used in the 2019 film, "The Friend". They also used Zeppelin's "Thank You" in the same film. Albums 1 and 2 weren't recorded the same year but were dropped the same year, 1969. Album 1 was recorded in the fall of 1968 in the UK in about 30 hours. Album 2 was recorded when they had time between their '69concert performances using various studios in both the UK and the US. Definitely a very busy year for the band. It's considered by many to be one of the most influential albums of all time. It's really great to listen to albums in order track by track to understand Zep's progression and evolution as a band. Edit: They never performed this live while the band was active, although they did during their 2007 reunion concert with Jason Bonham sitting in for his dad on drums.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure this whole song is about the 'Lord Of The Rings'. The travels he mentions is the journey to Mordor and the girl he mentions throughout the song is the 'one ring' that gollum steals at some point.

I was thinking that about the girl. I should have mentioned it when I was saying the LOTRs part. Thanks for commenting.

The one thing that doesn't matter is whether it's a remaster or original because the same person produced the master and remaster. His name is Jimmy Page

Usually, a "re-master" is a digital version of the original analog recording. Audiophiles, including myself, do not care for the digital versions because the music comes out "flat" meaning there is no "depth" when the music is played. Vinyl is making a huge comeback probably for this reason. Oh, btw, John Paul Jones on bass and John Bonham on drums are BEAST, BEAST, BEAST! The rhythm section carries the song where you want it to go. That includes drums and bass. YW.
@Timoeltejano2 жыл бұрын
JPJ really does make this song with that bad bad bass. Probably in my top 10 LZ songs. My absolute fave is TRAVELING RIVERSIDE BLUES.
@heliotropezzz3332 жыл бұрын
This is one of my favourite LZ songs but then I have so many favourites. It sounded that good from the first. It's not because of remastering. Jimmy Page knew what he was doing in terms of production. He learned a lot when he was a session musician. JPJ was also a session musician before joining LZ and he was a good music arranger. There's a lot of English folk music influence in this song in the slow parts. In the slow parts I think John Bonham is playing the bongos or similar type of drum or maybe tapping on the edge of his drum. LZ often have something interesting going on in the outro which makes the listener want their songs to continue, I feel. Maybe by LZ II Jimmy had the confidence in the band to give them all their opportunity to shine and to allow more equal contributions.

Thanks for the detailed comment. Yea he lets everyone shine for sure.

Mizzy & Meezy, welcome back! Here's your reminder to hit *ELO* again, it's nearly been 5 months since you reacted to, "Shangri-la"! Next up from ELO, I recommend you react to their 1975 hit, *"Evil Woman".* It was the song that launched ELO into Rock superstardom! Be sure to use the studio version from the original album, Face The Music, as the single version that shows up on later "greatest hits" albums is not full-length. I suggest using the VEVO link from the band's official channel. It should have the Face The Music album cover (feat. an electric chair) as the thumbnail, and the song should be 4 minutes and 32 seconds. Not sure if the link will show up for you, but here it is: *"Evil Woman"* by ELO: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4fHZYueqdWFeMU

@@reactioninaction7415 That's awesome news, Meezy, thanks for taking my recommendation! Can't wait for the upload!!! *"Evil Woman"* is the very first ELO song I ever heard, in the autumn of 1975, when I was just 9 years old. The album on which it's featured, Face The Music, was brand new, and my older sister had just bought it. It was Saturday morning and I was awakened to the the sounds of, *"Evil Woman",* thumping through my bedroom wall from my sister's room next to mine. I remember it like it was yesterday, laying there, smiling at the ceiling, as I listened to this wonderfully strange music, a rock 'n roll sound I'd never heard before.
