See people, this is where it all begins. It’s not the polished art you hear at the end. It’s a few musicians in a room hashing it out. Over and over and over again. This is real music. Made by extraordinary musicians. Honing their craft with an endless pursuit of their passion.

I have A special love for Led Zeppelin... a once in a lifetime band. Nowadays most guitarist use pedal boards use tons of affects but the guitar is pretty raw in most of their songs... sure he also used effects now and then, bur NOTHING like today. In fact if you took the special effects away from most of today's guitarist they would not be able to hold their own on stage... This group transported me to a special place in my mind every time I listened to it.

Special effects are for movies, guitarists just use effects ;) And it's actually quiet common for guitarists to mostly play with just amp or pedal distortion, and only sometimes use a few effects for specific sounds. Brian May, Angus Young, Lindsey Buckingham, Eddie van Halen, SRV, (and pretty much every other blues guitarcplayer) to name a few ;)

I wouldn't say awful. But not their best. That's what rehearsals are for so it's no big deal and it's a treat to see them hanging out. Jason sounds great. Pagey sound lurchy, but he always does and sounded better on the night of. JPJ is fine. But Robert had lost his high notes by this point. I don't judge him, he had a vocal style that was unsustainable long term. But gave us the greatest recordings in Rock for posterity. After the early 70's his voice became more nasaly and he couldn't rely on the high notes anymore. It wasn't until recently with Alison Krauss he found another way to sing, by his own admission. And I think it's some of his best work. Anyways. I'm just not a fan of Percy's 80's-90's vocals. Neither is he.

Right? They sound really good to me too! It’s not about nailing perfection, it’s about the overall fill, which they definitely had, cool thing about listening to it for me was that Jimmy page was playing things on the guitar that I’ve never noticed in the mix on the recording, very cool stuff, and as for Robert, why would he try to throw his voice out during a rehearsal? Sorry for the long winded reply, I just agree with you that I like the way it sounded

@@MattFoleysGhost i’ll tell you what, I saw Robert Plant in 1992, one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. He pretty much did Led Zeppelin two.... as I remember that was probably about 90% of the show, plus he had Jason Bonham behind them on the drums... and Robert killed it Man! Didn’t seem to me like there was hardly any drop off in his vocals for that 1992 show. Live aid we won’t even talk about🤠An actual 1988 performance definitely had it’s spots or you could tell he was avoiding the note, but a great performance nonetheless!

I was at the Atlantic Records show. And even though Plant & Page were not...........great, Bonham (& Jones) were both solid as a rock. I remember thinking the pressure Jason had to be carrying on his shoulders and thinking "This kid is the shit". He was and remains. You can get doors opened for you because of your name. That's privilege and luck of the draw. But they won't stay open if you aren't good at your craft. That takes effort and practice and dedication. And Jason is good at his craft.

delphin bringsby keep in mind presence was written and recorded within a month which most likely didn’t allow them enough time to achieve something better, and based off of live stuff from the later years jimmy was doing pretty interesting stuff with effects and whatnot. Kenneth Gambone I really think Plant and Bonham would have left to do something different and then came back to the fold in a few years when Page got his shite together. Anytime people say Zep or Page or Plant or whoever (other than JPJ) sounds like shit...that’s kinda why I love Zeppelin. On their A game, they are Gods incarnate, literally manifesting a Godly sound. And when they’re off, they’re bad enough that you realize they’re just normal people. Their D game gives me confidence as a Musician. They’re imperfect everyday people, who could tap into a Godly awesome power and sound with the right ingredients. They’re true Alchemists. Sometimes the experiment yielded awesome results, and other times it yielded shit results.

Led Zep has been a band I loved in high school and still do. I still love their songs and their talents. Nothing comes close. They are just so above any other band that has come along When John Bonham died it was such a blow but, since Jason grew up whenever they played with him on drums it sounds like the band always has. I've heard the surviving members did come around to see Jason as he as growing up but, Not really sure. I'd like to think they were like uncles to the boy as he grew up and helped him become the guy he is along with his mother. But, I think the guys feel it is as close to Bonzo as they could be with Jason playing with them.

Page and Plant has spoken very highly about Jason; Page said when they would throw out a song title, Jason would say, which way do you want to play it? The way you did at x in 1969, or the gig at y in 1971 or the way you did at z in 1977 or..

George Piazza I get it, still, those two guys on your drum riser for the first 39 seconds of the song is heart attack city unless you’re John Bonham. I saw J Page with Jason on the Outrider tour, it was awesome. A rock god up close

From 1988 onward they could have just reunited with Jason...sigh what shame

How great would that of been? But it kind of keeps the Zepplin mystique going, the fact that we don’t get to see them play together very often. In a recent interview I saw with Robert Plant, he said he fears becoming a caricature of himself, and as much as I’d love to see those guys doing their thing, I actually respect that.

The "title" Makes no sense. "Atlantic 40th reunion 1988"..? That means Atlantic Records broke up and got back together 40 different times .!!! what you meant to say was "Atlantic 40th Anniversary 1988" . I assume you mean "Atlantic Records 1988 40th Anniversary.Event " rehearsal featuring the 1st ever "re-union " of Led Zeppelin since Bonham's death..They sounded "rusty"

amazing! who are these hangers on backstage when the band should have been relaxing or chilling or doing coke before going on. All those pricks in there before the gig did not do Jason any favours with regards to stress. Save for the after party. still, jimmy cool as ever . Peter grant?
