Lol Sweet Leaf iron Man, and nib is definitely blues scale based. Tony was a blues guitarist like page they both just spiked it with psychedelic scales when soloing, Tony mostly took the Dorian stuff, page was a major/mixolydian stuff, but Jimmy was much more versatile using more scales that are both major and minor. Zepplin Aerosmith hendrix. And was heavily influenced by the OLD blues guys like john lee hooker. Etc. Bb king. Got. Little into grunge. Was loving nirvana. But rhe heavier stuff like metallica always just seemed like it didnt fit somehow in my mind. But thats why i love music so much. If we all loved the same exact thing music would suck cause all the greats from like 1850s to late 1990s would all sound exactly rhe same. Kinda like how new pop bs does. Man that's a tear drop from my face cause honestly I feel like in a very distant way both bands shouldn't... Be pitted against each other because they almost in a way work together and have music identical to each other but both have there own signature style that is there own. Zeppelin is my vote but it doesn't mean Sabbath is bad actually insane good, 70's music is all around just so inspirational for guitarists and dude.. Keep up these riff video's. It makes my blood boil whenever I hear/see someone say Zeppelin invented heavy metal. Zeppelin invented Hard Rock. Sabbath BIRTHED heavy metal. Know the difference
@xdd7825 жыл бұрын
Ryan Brown Yeah okay, why don’t you have a look at Communication Breakdown, 1969, the solo especially. Does it sound familiar, yes it does because everyone copied it later. Also Dazed n Confused, the fast part of it. It is straight out metal, in 69. Black Sabbath also ripped off Paranoid’s riff from Dazed’. He even said “There would be no Sabbath without Zeppelin”. So zeppelin invented metal, and Judas Priest/Black Sabbath took it to new levels.

Those two guys - and also Blackmore and Hendrix - were the DNA for all rock that came after. It’s weird how Page’s riffs in many ways were simpler, but funkier, but Zep’s songs were more harmonically complex and varied. I think Page used the riffs as parter of a larger sonic picture, but Iommi’s riffs carried whole Sabbath songs. Both guys were rock geniuses.

It's tricky to have a complete Sabbath riff battle without "Children Of The grave" or "Heaven And Hell", but at least NIB made it in. Ozzy usually gets the most attention, but this shows us how Iommi's melodic writing and raw power fueled Sabbath.

Literally every Zeppelin song has an amazing riff, and every song has it's own unique atmosphere. With Black Sabbath, many of the songs have one signature sound.

Totally two different type of bands. Led Zeppelin is a Classic blues rock band and Sabbath invented a whole new style of bluesy rock. Led zeppelin and blue cheer would of been a better comparison. I don't know any band that had a style like Sabbath back then.
@taylorsoshea3994 жыл бұрын
in my opinion, led zeppelin is the second best band of all time only behind the beatles. i think jimmy page is 2nd best guitarist all time to only jimmy hendrix himself and you could make an argument for eddie van halen to be better than page. i think eddie was more talented than page but page had more badass riffs. eddie could have even been more talented than hendrix, but eddie probably wouldn't have been around if it wasn't for both of the jimmy's 😂

@@walpurgisnacht9234 It's a shame, because Stairway to Heaven is a MUCH better song than Paranoid, but I've heard it SO many times that I normally change the station when it comes on these days. I became sick of hearing Paranoid long before Stairway, despite it not being played nearly as often, because it's just not a great song. In fact, id say that Paranoid is a rare example of a sub par song that should have been nothing more than an 'album filler' used to take up extra space on a short album, which became popular for some unknown reason. There are SO many better B.S. songs.

As the bass player of Celtic Frost once said, "There are many different shades to darkness besides black." Zep and Sabbath are like day and night. One cannot exist without the other. As a mighty rock force, they become the most important two bands in the history of music without a doubt. And no, the Beatles don't count. All three bands grew up on the same blues and Motown music. There's a reason Stairway and Iron Man are the most played guitar pieces in history.
