How'd you figure out he can sing? Was it his channel name?
@henriettaskolnick29035 жыл бұрын
The vocalist is Robert Plant, he also played harmonica. The band was created in 1968 by the guitarist, Jimmy Page. Jimmy played all the guitars, some mandolin, and some banjo. He produced all their albums as well. John Paul Jones was the bassist/keyboardist and John Bonham was the drummer. The band split when Bonham died in 1980. They were a heavy blues/hard rock band but they played a variety of styles like acoustic, folk, funk, epics, ballads, and ethereal sounding, almost prog rock. My recommendation for new listeners is to go in album/track order because of you only do requests, you'll miss a lot of great music. The first song from their first album is called Good Times Bad Times. Give it a try!
@chrisd70475 жыл бұрын
This may be heresy, but their first album is my favorite. You're right, listening to the whole album is important. LZ, Page in particular, was very much of the opinion that an album was an entire entity. The songs that are on an album are on there for a reason. The order they're in is for a reason. It's all deliberate.
@HellenKillerProject5 жыл бұрын
I was a Page head until I saw a concert by John Paul Jones where he was playing a lot of lap steel guitar along with all the other instruments he plays. It made me wonder how much of the early Led Zep might have been influenced or played by him. Page/Plant had no trouble "borrowing other artists material" why not John Paul Jones licks too? Either way these guy put down some awesome tracks and "Fool in the Rain" and "Hot Dog" or "I'm Gonna Crawl" should be added to any playlist as a testament to their later phase where they were trying to re-invent themselves and become relevant again. Sadly John Bonham dying put and end to the era. Looking back at The Song Remains the Same movie and the spark they had it isn't hard to understand why they shelved Led Zeppelin because you can't recreate that magic period and all things must pass … The Doors attempted two albums after Jim and toured closely after his death, it was a tragic and futile endeavor..

Planet rock did a poll to make the theoretical perfect band. Singer drummer bass and guitar. You can pick anybody ever. Robert plant and John Bonham came number 1 for singer and drummer. No, "some" of Lynard Skynard died in a plane crash. The drummer for Zeppelin died from drinking 40 shots, passing out on his back, throwing up and then suffocating on his vomit. They broke up right after in 1980. The singer, Robert Plant and drummer, John Bonham were 19 years old when they made this song in 1969. The guitarist and mastermind and group founder is Jimmy Page. The bassist is John Paul Jones. All four members are considered some of the greatest performers of all time in what they do and the drummer is considered the greatest drummer of all time. This is the biggest group of the 70's and have sold like the 3rd most albums of all time. Every rock band since has been influenced in some way by Zeppelin.

Love your LZ song reactions. I was 20 years old in college when their music came out in 1968, over 50 years ago, and you have to realize the impact this had on young people at the time, when the youth of America had pretty much been listening to the Beatles and the Stones then. Nothing like this music of LZ had ever been heard before. It is still as good today, over 50 years later. I encourage you to watch the documentary of LZ on KZbin, Dazed and Confused, about the history of LZ (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rX6Zm3pshN2ZoKc), and to watch a black & white documentary of LZ's first public performance in September, 1968 at a teen club in some town in Denmark that was broadcast on tv (kzbin.info/www/bejne/oV66hJWDjJx1hsU), to give you a full flavor of Led Zeppelin. Loved your reaction on this one! That singer is Robert Plant, one of best in rock! Jimmy Page, one of the greats, is the guitarist and plays other stringed instruments. On the song you just listened to, Page plays his electric guitar with a violin bow (or perhaps it's a cello bow) in the middle section before he goes into his blistering solo. John Bonham is considered perhaps the best drummer in rock ever. And the bass player, John Paul Jones, who also plays keyboards and other instruments, is considered one of the best with his instruments too. Every member of that band is a legend! As some have already indicated, you should definitely listen to "Since I've Been Loving You" next. And if you like blues-powered rock, you will certainly like "You Shook Me".

Led Zeppelin were first formed in 1968 in England. Apart from Robert Plant ( vocals and harmonica) Jimmy Page (lead guitar) John Paul Jones (bass and keyboard) and John Boham (drums) had been much sought after session men around London recording studios in the mid 1960s. Jimmy Page formed the band, and auditioned a young 19 year old Robert Plant for vocals. He got the job! All the members of Zeppelin were great admirers of old school black blues. Other British bands from the 1960s who were also greatly influenced by the blues were Cream, Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd.

Metal sucks that’s why they have to pull the old guys into it, and label them such. Like the other dude mentioned, Babe I’m Gonna Leave You is FIRE. Another one you might like that’s also fuckin Fire is Back Door Man by The Doors. Jim Morrison is another legendary singer that’s super bluesy even though The Doors didn’t do as much straight blues as early Led Zeppelin did. Back Door Man is a cover as well. Led Zeppelin was British by the way. The blues had a HUGE influence in 60s and 70s rock and a lot of those guys crankin out legendary blues based rock at the time were coming from England. The Doors were American.
