Always listen in context at that time, it is not against Christianity per say. LKY knows too well that Spore is made up of many races and to enforce a one religion be Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Taoism etc. is not going to work. It's good that the diversity is embraced and freedom to choose one's faith is allowed. In other nations, when only one religion is enforced and made official, can one have truly have true faith or live in the hypocrisy of what was enforced by the institutional authorities until one is brainwashed? The root of the Bible is still God wants us to choose him FREELY on our own will so who are we as humans to impose one 'right' religion on the masses? True love is one where we CHOOSE to love and not forced to and God wants us to come to Him that way.

Uhmmmm..... let me talk about numbers here for a bit. If you start with 1%, then expand it to 1.2%, you can calculate the growth to be 20%. That indeed sounds impressive, yes. If however, you start with 10%, then turn it into 10.2%, the the growth becomes a mere 2%, even though it grew by the same magnitude. Now it does sound less impressive, right? So, when you are telling me Christianity (or whatever other religion out there) is currently the fastest growing religion in Singapore, you are definitely not saying anything about how dominant the religion will become in the future. It's like that claim I keep hearing about how Islam is the fastest growing religion in Japan. The way they crow about it makes me believe that soon, Japan will become an Islamic nation, but cow sense tells you that it will not happen anytime soon. I truly doubt that Singapore will turn into a Christian nation. Sorry to burst your hopes.

and yet he used to meditate on the phrase " maranatha" which means "come Lord Jesus" in reference to hastening of the second coming of Christ to judge the living and the dead...to be King over all. rather ironic. in any case, true understanding of Biblical based theology is the understanding that not all will be saved i.e. not all will be converted. it is quite hard to be convinced that mature Christians would think that vast nations and cultures can be converted wholesale; this is fallacious. may we find forgiveness of sins and peace in the Lord Jesus Christ. for those who argue that religion has killed millions, we ought to be reminded of the world's foremost atheists such as Stalin, hilter, pol pot, mao etc.

I feel sad to hear this speech from a respected leader. Yes. Singapore is very developed now, but it's because of God's blessings, not just hard work.
