Thank You Thank You! I did it. I’m in the process of knitting a hat with Rowan 50% wool 25% alpaca and 25% viscose. I’ve been wanting to learn how to crochet, but couldn’t find anyone left handed to teach me. I’m sure Grandma Alice, my Dads mom would be proud. It was my Moms mom that taught me the basics in knitting, and my Mom taught me the advanced stuff. I’ve got an idea for a knitted blanket. I’m going to work it out on graph paper. I want to be able to crochet the knitted squares together. Again thanks God Bless.

I have been crocheting since I was 13 but I still don't know much farther that the very basic stitch of single and double crochet. I learned today something that makes my project look so finished. That is how to start your single crochet by crocheting into the spine of the chain. I love this method. Thank you Mikey for having these left handed tutorials. I am going through and learing how to crochet the correct way now at 55 years young.

This video is amazing! I had repeatedly tried to teach my 13 year old left-handed daughter to crochet and we were struggling despite using several books and other videos. Mikey does an excellent job of explaining everything and making it so easy to follow. My daughter was able to easily learn how to crochet by watching this video. She was so proud that she could finally crochet! She started with several washclothes and is now working on her first afghan. She also now can watch what I do and see how to do it left-handed. Thank you so much for this wonderful video!

When my kids were new borns I had a go at it, but it was confusing and their wasn't alot of help around d then. So, thank you very very much. Now the second thing I wanted to say is actually a question... When I turn the chain over to be hump side, and start the 1st single crochet row, I know I move the hook two rows down, but what I don't understand is do I continue to move two rows down until I reach the end? Please help...

All these years I have been “yarn overing” wrong ! My grandma taught me at the ripe old age of 8 and ( Bless Her) she was right handed !! By setting in front of her, the thread or yarn was “ throwed” away from her , and that’s the way I’ve done it for 60 years !!! While watching you, I realize I’m not doing it right !!!😱😱 All the stitches are fairly uniform except for the half dc, and my tc. Should I try to relearn how to do the stitches the way you do or just keep going the way I’ve done all these years ??? Not that I’m a fast crocheter but the “ new” way does slow me down cause I have to think about it ! Hopefully I’m making sense and you can help . Thank you .

I have done it threading with a needle going one way in the stitches and then another to lock them in place and they still come loose. I have used nodding and then working in the end. I have worked the yarn in in with my other stitches $0.01 which color. Nothing works it seems like crochet and always come loose. What am I missing here? Anyone?

Brittany, that made me so sad when I read this. I am 58 years old. I do understand how you feel. I have never had any finger dexterity. My handwriting is awful and embarrassing. I have never had a hobby because of this lack of dexterity even though I tried different things. My daughter-in-law is now trying to teach me. She has encouraged me to not give up, so I am going to keep trying to simply make a chain until I feel confident and comfortable before attempting anything else. Please try to find a person who can watch you and give you some pointers and encouragement. Feeling like a failure is so hard on our self esteem, I know from personal experience. Chin up!
