*IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT GLUING SILICONE STRIPS TO YOUR CROSS BARS* You can't use hot glue to adhere silicone strips to your cross bar. After a little bit of pulling it comes right off - I should have realized this as the whole purpose to silicone is that things don't easily stick to them. I am doing a little research and testing but right now I believe E6000 or SilPoxy or silicone based adhesives should work. They take 24-48 hours to sure so if they don't work I'll update this message.

I am lucky enough to have two designated tables plus a mixing table and supply table.... and shelves. Rolled plastic (with the roll attached to the end of the tables legs), helps me keep moving with less clean up time. I cut the plastic with paint drips into storage size pieces if I want to keep to save them for jewelry making.

Used clear Scotch brand packing tape at ends and one in middle of silicone strips along curtain rods and works perfectly. Glad you passed along that glue and hot glue do not work. Will save others time.

I know they make various types of silicone adhesive tape. Flex Seal even makes one, X-Treme tape and different types of weather striping tape. I wonder if something of that nature would stick to that and the paint would come off easier.

Another great tip, for painting on a small canvas, or paper, get a gridded plastic ceiling louver (it's the grid, that you see in office building over the flourescent lights). Cut this thing to side and you'll have a small grid that you can put on top of the bars

Ooh, I would have never though of that. I tried to find a cheap grill type cover but they were all too expensive. Things like chicken wire just don't keep it's shape and stay flat. I can see how this would work well.

@@LeftBrainedArtist Yes, I came across a panel in the HW store and grabbed it. I had tried using a cookie drying metal rack, but mine are not level and not being a grid, they don't work well. Anyway, the plastic gridded louver panel was easily cut and works wonderfully for painting on paper while still using the pour container. I've built a pour container based on your earlier video - Thank you so much - it makes all the difference in the world to have a level, good, pour container!

I'm lucky enough to have a spare room in the house I live in, I've lined it with multiple layers of heavy duty drop cloths, cardboard, and some of those foam tiles that people use for exercise or whatever. I like to sit on the floor when I paint, and I like to be able to just make a mess whenever I feel like it. Then I just lay down a square if 1mil plastic sheeting that I keep pre-cut for ease, and have several of those kitchen cupboard style racks, that are basically made out of wire, so I can simply move them aside as I go. I recognize that I am super lucky to have this setup; it makes it a lot more likely that I will actually do some painting. Or tie-dying... or whatever the hell I might be doing that day that is probably going to make a mess. I will say though, I really appreciate you showing people how to do this sort of stuff, there are tons of videos of people painting, and not a whole lot of videos about the practicality of it. I've been doing this for years, and I've made a lot of compromises to be sure that I don't spend a whole lot of time toodling about with the not-so-fun parts. It's always nice to get some new ideas to add to the arsenal.

Great idea. I looked into using a similar setup. Wouldn’t quite fit right on my kitchen table. I lay down a 30 gallon trash bag. Then lay down a vinyl mat. Works great. I’ll use leftover paint as a base for the next canvas and peel off the dried paint. Also have a large Amazon box cut down to use with a spinner. The challenges of living in a studio apartment. When you get lemons you gotta make lemonade 👍🏻

Lol I JUST started pour painting this week and as I was brainstorming what I could use, I was like, "oh, ya, I have a Dollar Tree kitty litter box that I didn't need after all, I can use that"! ... so I did!! Lol I have posted 2 videos so far using that method and it's working so far for this beginner!!! 😆 (I also have a larger litter box from Petco that I might start using since it's bigger. (Turns out my kitty doesn't like stepping on litter...😒 ... so I use the "Breeze" litter system with pine pellets and only 1/2 the container can have the pellets, so she can stand on the side without the pellets, but still turn and potty ON the pellets! 🤣😆) (Oh, and I had just purchased a set of 3 wire racks for my air fryer, so I had planned on using one those for my paintings as well! Great minds think alike! 😉) Happy POURING everyone!!

What I like most about you is that your truly teaching beginners and you’re doing it step-by-step and you’re not leaving out any details… I have my own home but I do not have a designated area only area is my kitchen table to do any sort of painting and the set up time and the knock down time is more of an issue than actually doing what I like to do which is create … So this plastic container is a great idea I don’t think I’ve seen it with any other KZbinr everyone else seems to have a designated place for their art projects because they have the room … well I don’t have the room and I have to be very constricted because I’m doing this in my living space… So I appreciate how are you’ve taken the process to a different level and telling us not only how to do the painting but how to be organized so I don’t have to think about being organized all I have to do is think about being creative thank you👍✌️

I purchased all the supplies, but am using wooden 1/2” dowels instead of the thread bolt. My husband drilled the holes for the dowels and made sure everything was level. We watched your video as you taught us how to do it right. I was afraid the thread bolt would be too heavy for me, so that’s why the dowels. THANK YOU a ton for these fantastic videos!!!!! Just a suggestion… Try Glad Press n Seal to cover the metal strips and bottom of pan! It sticks really well! I fold a corner into itself so I know where to start pulling it off and makes for easy clean up. I use the Press n Seal to cover a lot when painting and crafting. And to cover glass paint paint bottles in between uses so the tops don’t get yucky. 😃

We have found that using yard sticks across a container helps. They are more inexpensive than the pipes or the rails. Also with them being flat we can lay the cups and paint on the ends.

This is going to happen as soon as I can get to a Lowe's! I love it! Currently I have sectioned off a corner of a 1 car garage for painting. Drop cloths hanging all over, tarps on the floor, Dexter Style. I cover the table I work on with freezer paper which works great, but sometimes the run off ends up in my lap! Something I do have that it very cool, I got the idea from one of Pouring Your Heart Out videos: an old baby crib converted into a drying rack with many large shelves. You turn the crib on end and put plywood across the bars! If I knew how to post a photo I would, but I'm sure you get what I'm talking about. Keep those tips and tricks coming!

I go to the grocery stores and find big boxes, line it with old rags and pour all my excess off the canvas into the lined box. The box can be poured into several times, the paint dries in there, and I replace the old box when done. I have a very, very small area to pour, so I use old shelves, usually found in a trash bin, they are flat. I put that on my pouring side of the table, on top of an old stair gate that we used to use for the baby. It's leveled with popsicle sticks. Also, flat, and fits across the entire table. Then, I tie down my lazy susan to the gate, very tight, and place a heavy, large ceramic tile on top of the lazy susan to keep it stable, and spin faster. on the other side of the table. I surround both sides with flat card board box standing up to keep the paint from spreading everywhere when I spin. I mix all my paints right before I pour and use enough to not have any left over, and do the same for the next pour. I have done a dozen Shelee Art Blooms in one sitting. No clean up needed. Every thing is lined in plastic, and foil on the lazy susan. I dry on another table in my closet, It's a big closet, on top of the other baby gait, leveled with popsicle sticks.

SO much easier for sure. Just make sure you have a level place to put your paintings when you are done so they can dry. Otherwise they'd stick to the bars and make mess and rip your canvases.

Thank you! I am pouring in a doggy Bath. Covert With some puppy towels taped with Frog tape in it. In it Stands a Spinner covert with Alunium Folie. For the bigger canvases I put two sticks taped with Frog tape over the Spinner. Its an idea from someone Els and it works Wunderwell. After the work you just Push it a bit together and let It dry in a corner. You always have a clean table.

Thank you for all your wonderful instructions. I bought a plastic storage container after seeing yours. I use a cookie rack from the $1 tree to pour on one side and a stainless steel adjustable over the sink colander from the thrift store on the other side. I put my cups of paint and supplies in the colander. No more mess! This cuts down on my clean up cost which will allow for more paint!

I picked up a kids shoe rack yesterday for $9. Instead of solid shelves, it has 4 metal bars going across that make up each shelf. It has 5 shelves. Each shelve is 18.5 inches wide. I admit it’s small but is perfect for me at this point. At that price, I can purchase more in the future.

Thanks for the video and tips. Mine was done on the super-cheap: I already had a large flat cardboard box I had saved for recycling or repurposing, I trimmed it and lined it with some plastic sheeting that was also already in the house. Works great! Those cement mixing containers also make good oversize litter boxes if you have big or multiple cats.

Thanks, I love you ideas. I bought a plastic tray for the bottom of a dog crate at a pet store. 24x36 and 2” deep. I use puppy pads on the bottom, and then I can just fold up the pads after 2-3 paintings and throw it away. I use push pins to raise the canvas off the pad. Works great.

I can’t tell you how happy I am that I watched your pouring bin video before I started pouring. I have never needed to set up or take down. Always helpful and practical, always cheerful, always thinking about how to help your followers. A year ago (Home Depot, Lowe's) I bought a " square pan" that goes under your washing machine to catch any water that might be leaking. Kind of shallow 1.5 inches deep and 20 x 20 inches. Never thought about attaching crosspieces. I use extra tall push pins in the frame and usually throw a "puppy pee pad" in the bottom to absorb the run off. I have also placed an oven rack from an old - going to the dump - stove across a plastic storage bin and that works well, too. :) Thanks for all you do. :)

David I have been meaning to ask you about pouring paint into a cup. I see some people tilt the cup or pour on the side, others just pour into a straight cup, some pour from high up above the cup , others from very close to the cup. No one explains the difference between these different pouring methods. Perhaps you could do a video on it or refer me to one that you have already done.

@@sunitasuri7626 Hi, Sunita. I've been pouring for a few years, and i hope i can clarify some of these techniques and their purpose... When pouring tree rings, flip cups or dirty pours, i mix my paint thicker and 'stack' the colors by pouring each color slowly and as close to the cup as possible. Choosing to layer colors by pouring them low and slow into the cup, or sliding them down the side of the cup doesn't make much of a difference either way. It's just a way to keep the paints in layers of colors rather than risking colors mixing up too much in the cup (which can create mud, especially for newer artists.) i know that was a problem for me for a long time. I like to stack my paints mostly for tree rings, or when I'm adding silicone. If you pour the colors into your cup from higher up, it will distribute those colors throughout the rest of your paint colors, and (in my opinion) creates more interesting cells, but can also create a busier painting. The higher up you pour, the lower in your cup that paint will go (i hope that makes sense). In my experience, I get more celling, by pouring into the cup from higher up and then doing a flip cup or straight pour. Be aware that pouring from higher up will create paint bubbles in your cup, which may require torching to pop. I try to avoid torching if possible at the risk of burning the paint, or creating a skin over the top that can cause uneven drying and cracking of the final painting. I also had alot of problems with torching too much when i first started. I was trying to get more cells, more cells, more cells, and i was getting cracked paint, cracked paint, cracked paint. So torch to get rid of bubbles, more than to create cells. But i think that's also a trial and error thing when you first get started. Practice, practice. Remember, we can't 'force' fluid art to do what we want it to do. Over time, we can try to 'coax' it by using little tricks we have learned along the way. It's going to do, what it's going to do. The number one tip that helped me the most: whether you mix your paints thinner or thicker, each color for each painting must be the same viscosity. Mixing thinner paints and thicker paints into the same cup is not going to give you a good result. One way to check if your paints are the same thickness, is to put a few drops of each color across the top of a canvas, or card stock, or junk mail... then turn the surface vertically. All of the colors should run down the surface somewhat evenly. i hope this helps and makes some kind of sense... its hard to explain without showing how.

Very nice tips! 5:20 , even easier than clamps is just taking a piece of Duct Tape and taping the rod from the top to under the lip of the container. It should hold in place fine.

Hi David, I Made a comment earlier on what a great idea this was. I just bought the tub (same size) and PVC pipes you suggested. In order to stabilize the pipes on the tub... well here is a solution you might suggest. I bought 7 pipes and let them at the 24" length I bought (cause I'm lazy), I purchased 14 - 3/4" conduit brackets in the electrical department (Home Depot). I centered the first pipe and installed the brackets with aluminium pop rivets. I then butted up the next bracket to the first one and riveted, It worked out perfect spacing for the other pipes. I have photos of the finished tub and one of the rivet box (incase others are interested or don't know what a rivet is - the sales person in the hardware department didn't know what one was he had to ask the manager). Definitely going to do this as it'll double as a storage box for all my bottles and paraphernalia. The biggest frustration I've had so far, apart from moving or touching the paintings too soon, are those damn thin, plastic dustsheets. You have to tape them down as they'll flap around if you switch on a hairdryer or blower and catch the edges of the the paintings. The only thing you can't do with your buckets is, of course, spinning.

Thank you for sharing all of your great ideas. I've watched different videos on paint pouring but I seem to learn more watching yours. Again, thank you for your time and effort. I'm making coasters, trays from Portland cement and doing paint pouring to decorate. A bit cheaper then buying the tiles. I decorate some by painting pouring - I like the different designs I can achieve in one set. Though I still struggle with the paint combinations - opaque and transparent. I do have a color wheel - it does help but I'm still not achieving the look I want: feathery, colorful, the wow effect. Will most definitely continue watching your videos over and over.

The first couple of times I used food trays (in Louisiana a lot of us call them crawfish trays) on top of a Dollar Tree tablecloth. For the cross rods, I was looking all over my house and ended up using some pool noodles. 😝 They actually worked great!

Well they really weren’t secured. I had the tablecloth down on the floor, 2 trays next to each other on the table cloth, and then put the pool noodles across the trays. Of course some of the paint went on the tablecloth between and around the trays, but most went in the trays. I was able to peel most of the paint off of the pool noodles when a piece dried then use them again. I could get my fingers under the edges of the painting as I was tilting/manipulating, and air could flow beneath the pieces as they dried. I sat on the floor and worked. Sometimes the noodles would roll, but not too much/often to quickly adjust. Far from the much neater way you have, but it worked for me. Thanks for the question. I'm new to acrylic pouring and this has been so unbelievably useful (as have all your videos, though I wish Elmers Glue-All was more available in the UK). Before I had a plastic sheet on the kitchen table with all the potential catastrophes of paint dripping on the table edges, the chair, the floor and then spread to the beige carpet. After watching this, one quick trip to B&Q and a grand total of £7.70 (about $10) spent I now have a mess-free space. I lined the container with cling film to make clean up even quicker but it probably isn't essential. Thank you so much!

I'm also attempting art for mental health reasons so *really* don't need the threat of paint everywhere and the kitchen being unusable because it's a tip 🤪 Only done two pours so far using the container (not put the pvc pipe on it yet as it's about 2m long and needs cutting to size) but clean up was a cinch - phew! I'm still going to put plastic sheeting down on the table because I'm gormless at the best of times but this is such a good idea, especially if space is limited. Thank you ❤

As a full-on fluid painting newbie I have gotten paint on my garage tarp and shoes etc, and the clean up was a pain. It makes me want to go someone else's business that will do all the prep and clean up for me! I just want to learn and pour and create. Your pouring acrylic pouring system is so great. I also have this set up on yet a bigger scale. I bought a large tray/tub from Home Depot and bought a tray that goes under your washer. It's approximately 30x32x4 inches. Light weight and perfect for bigger canvas cost a little more just over $20.

I started out with a clear box just like yours but I have only ever used my lazy susan in it. My fiance made me one similar to yours (I gave him your video, but he is an engineer and decided to tweak it) I haven't tried it yet, as I don't think he gets what I was quite looking for. Bless his Tim Taylor wanna out do himself brain. ha ha He used the exact concrete box (big one) and then cut four exact sized pvc pieces (like little cups) and put them on the bottom on the corners, then laid a white grate he cut out something and put it on top. It's all level, but there is way too many areas for paint to fall into to clean up and the grate is about 1" diameter areas. Totally not what I was looking for. It was one of my surprise Christmas presents this year. I was excited but I know I am going to have to tweak it.

I pour over plastic container bin lids that I covered with trash bags. I use cups to prop up the canvas so the canvas doesn’t just sit on the bag. I use the same setup for drying. I also use a dollar store plastic table cloth as a drop cloth so I don’t get paint on my living room floor wear I currently pour.

I put together the smaller one a couple days ago. Used a longer shelf bracket ( cheaper ) and cut it to size with a dremel. Worked great! Forgot the part about covering the bars on my first pour so have to fix that. Love the mobility, the ease of cleanup, and the bottom is flat so we can save the runoff for jewelry!

Hi, I bought a 33x54 kennel cage tray that has a raised edge, not to deep & it is durable, easy to clean, great for big or multi canvas projects & fits nicely on my art table. I can take it off & store it easily too.
