A few weeks back after loading trucks with winter wheat our John Deere 844 wheel loader had a catastrophic failure of all hydraulic pumps after a drive line universal exploded. It took some time but once parts were tracked down and professionally rebuilt, Leg Arms was able to work his magic and get this machine back in action!

Seeing Scott at work and listening to his opinions and beliefs is seriously motivating for a sole farmer like me. I would love to hear Laura’s or the other girls comments on watching the 3 guys at work. There is a strength here that comes from getting dirt on your boots. And Scott is observant, being a livestock farmer means that my horses are not fitted with a key that can leave them safe and well for a few days. We are blessed with a drought and local wildfires ATM, I would love a few months of ice and snow and the ground water it brings.

Your comments at 14:41. These are the things my dad taught me growing up. We didn't have a big farm. One 1950's John Deere tractor, couple of small pieces of equipment and several trucks and personal vehicles. We fixed them ourselves whenever possible. We saved money and learned things in the process. I still do that with my personal vehicles now. The things I can do on newer vehicles is getting less and less, but I do what I can and know when it's time to take them into the shop. Good to know that there are still people put there that do what they can, when they can. Good job!

Whenever I have worked in farming or trucking, it is the driver's responsibility to keep the truck and trailer clean and always ready for the next load. How come Leg Arms has to fix the Deere AND clean the trailer of punky stuff? You're lucky he is such a good sport.

Working on heavy equipment the last 25 years, I have much respect for you LEG ARMS. It can get tuff at times. An old man told me to just walk away for 10 min when your having an issue come back and it will just fall together. It works every time. Not sure why but it works. Thought I would share it with you.

The way it works for me is that I will walk away and be thinking "what am I doing or not doing that I should be. Sometimes I will lay in bed at night and figure out what I should try differently and then come back the next day and it falls together like it's supposed to

Yeah, walking away for 10 does help. Learned to do that working on Sea Kings. They fly great in any condition but they weren't really built for maintenance like new aircraft are. Still I was sad to see them leave service this year (RCAF).

@David Hotaling We used to have to tell the new pilots not to panic if they saw it leaking. If it was leaking then it had fluid to leak :)

There is a miracle product for fixing slow leaks in tires. I've sealed 3 tractor trailer tires and 2 lowboy tires in the last year with Berryman's Tire Sealant from Tractor Supply Co. I've had no issues with tire balance and it says it can be washed out with water. It has saved me a ton of time and aggravation. Thanks for your very inspirational channel. God Bless!

Hey guys I love watching the winter videos where you guys fix fab and repair all your own equipment. Your shop and equipment gets used but is all well taken care of. Not like a lot of the other channels where everyone has new equipment and a perfectly clean shop. Very refreshing to see we’re not the only ones keeping our older stuff going. Leg arms was not as enthusiastic in the early days as he is now. He doesn't need his own channel he can just posters and stuff and I think this may be one of the first ones. With this many subscribers look at more views in more Revenue good for them

Thanks for showing the repairs to the loader. I think that its great that you are keeping the existing equipment going. The newer equipment is setup so that you can only get the factory parts and repairs with everything being proprietary electronics and it makes me sad. Great video! Hey Legs, that was the best Welker Farms video yet. But I am an OLD farmboy who became an engineer, so I am prejudiced in favor of the machine guys. What I most liked was "we have a hydraulic leak, just put a bucket under it". My Kubota toy tractor has a hydraulic leak on the FEL and a gear oil leak on the left front axle, so I put newspaper under it!

What farmer do - rebuild - reuse everything. My later step - Grandfather was born in late 1800's. (passed 1973) Built a 'tractor' out of a truck parts. Used to move hay and lots of small things around the farm. The family has pictures of him using horses / steam and 'modern' tractors. I learned a lot from him about reusing items. RIP Gramps.

Good morning. In a pinch,could you use the Case tractor with the loader? I understand that the yard capacity is not the same. But the grain/crop can be moved just takes more time. Appreciate ya'll showing the pump's. Be safe.

I think you and leg arms should definitely kind of have your own shows(own the same channel of coarse), maybe different days of the week? Not always though I love them together to I was sjust thinking when or if you guys have to do different jobs. I also love any input form you father he is a wide man. I didn't have a dad ever( not looking for sympathy) it just make sme happy seeing how great he is and how great you to kids are as well it honestly makes me happy and so joyful seeing kids have what I didn't. It gives me quite a bit of hope for this county and lifts my sports everytime. I was lucky enough to have the most amazing grandfather to fill the the gap still not quitete the same, but wouldn't have changed it for the world.sobwoth that being said I absolutely love your dad's Bob Chanel's he reminds me so much of my grandfather and his jokes and the hidden wisdom in them. You have of the best channels imo because you have the American dream with the true American family. I have a very small farm myself just enough for some draft hores and some beef cattle for our family, my dream is to have a hay and crop farm with just a small amount for head so I never get to bored in MN winters. I watch your family's channels and MN farmers and a few others like northern. Farmer I like his wisdom to. And white a few small ones to many to list.

The more you repair, the more you learn, the more you learn the more tricks you can apply, the more tricks you can apply the more complex things you can repair. The more complex things you attempt, the more frustrating things you run into. But, if you look back and think about what you would not have attempted to do only a few years ago that are now routine, the less frustrated you feel. Nice complex fix Leg Arms.

I went on wheat harvest in high school from 1980-1983. North of cut bank was our last stop. 15 miles from the border. 30ish miles give or take ta port of sweet grass. Good times

Another thing about cast is its very strong for a constant stress but is very weak against shock loads

The nice thing about hydrolic pumps is that they are well lubricated. And a tip for next time you bolt heads are messed up, weld a nut to the head with a mig welder then pry on that.

I have to say...you boys work well together and you don't see that as often as you should. I know I could have never farmed with my bother...mainly because he's so hard on equipment and he knows everything, and he's a snake in the grass to top it off.
