Just a note on the different types of calf raises: due to the fact that the gastrocnemius (the bigger, more prominent of the calf muscles) crosses both the knee and the ankle joint, if you do seated calf raises it causes active insufficiency which essentially means that the gastrocs are no longer working as much since they are being lengthened across the two joints. So, if you are aiming to work your soleus more than your gastrocs, do seated calf raises. Do standing calf raises if you want to target the gastrocs, which are the calf muscles you can see when people flex them. Standing stops the knee from being flexed, preventing active insufficiency

Anyone else struggle with debilitating exertion headaches when training legs? I push too hard and get a sudden headache due to the extreme bloodflow demands from my quads and glutes when doing legpress. Then those headaches linger and mess with my upperbody days also. This happens even when I am sufficiently warmed up, and I make a serious effort to warm up slowly, even more for my head nowadays than for my joints and muscles.

@jakobjensen5539 Жыл бұрын
A common cause for headeches is biting you teeth together. Your jaw muscles can tense up and lead to headaches. I have no idea wether this is the cause or not. But when working legs, heavy loads are often more common place then let’s say working shoulders. Your body tenses up a lot more. I would try focusing on not biting together excessively during exercises. This is why you see many powerlifters using mouth guards during heavy squats. It’s at least worth giving it a try!😊

I, in my case, it is due to the high level of histamine in my body. when you lift weights your body produces more histamine and this could be the case. it only happens on leg day.
