I have been singing for decades, and though I know how to do many things, the terminology can be confusing. I have watched other vocal coaches give definitions and explanations and use examples of different professionals, but it is much better to actually hear the coach give basic demonstrations with their own voices, as you do, because it is so much easier to hear the differences within the same voice, as opposed to trying to hear the subtle difference between two different methods given by two different people. Instruction is worthless, if the students do not understand. Your no nonsense way is just so much more effective!

Question: I seemed to nailed the phrase, but once I tried singing it as "AH" vowel, it felt chopped. The whole phrase sounded chopped. Same with the E vowel. No problem with the O and U. Is that normal?

I would say that if an exercise really helps you, keep it as part of your regular routine! I have one exercise that I do every day because it always sets up my voice easily and quickly. So there is no set answer because it all depends on what works for you.

Very good video. Thank you. The thought occurred to me that singing is like a painting in that what you see from a distance is not what you see if you get close enough to see the brushstrokes or the technique. Is it the same in singing? Can you turn off your teacher's ear and sort of "see it" from the artist's recommended distance or do you always hear the technique - how they are doing it? What I hear in my favorite singers when trying to learn I crank up a recording's sound a bit and listen very closely a few times is not the same as when I just sit back and let the voice wash over me. Just wondering. Best wishes.

Hi, David! I am able to turn off my teacher's ear and enjoy the full performance. Singing would not be much fun if it always came from a critical aspect. Now in a lesson, it is much different. I analyze everything.

How can i tell my voice type:( the highest and the lowest i can go is e3- g5, but of course it's not really comfortable, my comfortable notes are quite narrow it sits around g3-b4. My transition points is f4, and my speech voice between a3/g3

It's hard to tell from a description, especially in the early stages of training. Maybe baritone.
