Post: Who is your pick for the best band to come out of the Seattle scene of the late 80s and 90s?

It's hard to top Nirvana just by the fact they kicked the door open for the world to hear the great music coming out of Seattle

Nirvana is really the only one I actually cared for. That said, The Reverend Horton Heat was originally on the Subpop label for some reason, although they're from Texas. I freaking LOVE The Rev--saw them open for The Cramps back in 1992.

Almost all the bands continued to record and tour but with a different approach to music. That’s neither good or bad. My best friend from college was a Chris Cornell fan and I know now why! What a loss to music!

Not really a Norah Jones fan but when she sang BHS in dedication to Chris Cornell right after he passed, it was so sweetly heartbreaking. ❤️ I was a pregnant teen and scared out of my mind right when really major music was hitting the airwaves. My son was born at the end of 93 and I was getting into the groove of accepting my life was not going to go the way it was supposed to (ahem) in the summer of 94. BHS hung with me for years as I raised my son and raised myself; I always felt touched by it as a song sung by someone who’d been hurt as a child and was tending their own wounds, but that was probably my personal feelings laid heavily over it. Learning Cornell’s story strengthened that feeling for me, though.

Sound garden was my favorite at the time. Some Nirvana, some STP...Chris Cornell had the most mesmerizing voice to me then and now....🖤

One of my favourite albums by one of my favourite musicians of all time. I actually cried the day I found out he died. He was one of my biggest influences. Great video!

Chris was amazing no matter what he was singing, and is sorely missed, and Kim is , in my opinion, a tragically underrated guitarist , with a sound all of his own, look at the track he did with The Pretty Reckless, when that song starts their is no doubt whos playing

I was really too young to catch the mid 90’s and the birth of the grudge era. But, I remember watching MTV when it was MTV. I saw the video for Spoonman. It was the coolest song I think I had ever heard. It was the first grunge song I knew; way before I knew what grunge was. Side note: I heard Chris talk about the song Outshined. And he gave his meaning but I think it was “made for media” if you will. Also I think him and Kurt knew each other. But I think Outshined was about NEVERMIND. I remember hearing that Soundgarden was the first Seattle group to be signed. Subsequent I feel like he felt outshined. Just my opinion though. It would be 20-25 years before I realized how talented he was as an artist. Sadly that realization didn’t come for me until he past. There was a meme on social media with a pic of Chris that had some lines to the effect of “People ask why I mourn the death of a musician. To which it replies. Because they are with us throughout out lives. The ups and downs. Kinda like a best friend.” I realized I lost a best friend that day. And I mourned like I had lost a family member. Anyway long story longer. Thank you for doing your show. It’s so entertaining. I do appreciate what you do, much. Sincerely JPIII
