According to your review, one should play this game, similarly to say, a Bethesda game (Fallout and Skyrim come to mind), where you just kind of take it in as you go, and discovering things for yourself.

Graphics are pretty much the same, the difference is in the resolution, shading, draw distance and fps drops, also the wii u version has more fog to "make up" for less draw distance.

I kept thinking that most of the edges of the world would be cut off, that I would be limited in various ways from exploring past a point. That the massive Gerudo Highland mountains might just be inaccessible 'background' terrain. This game has continually impressed me on just how expansive it truly is, over and over and over... Hell though, by the time you reveal the map fully, you'll have a difficult time pointing out where the plateau even is due to how small it is compared to the rest of the world. I'm sure this effect wasn't coincidental.

Guys, Jared said that the frame rate would "occasionally" drop to low teens. That does not mean that the game is played in 10 frames the entire time. I'm sure a majority of the game runs smoothly, and it's only once in a while when a lot of graphics are interacting with each other at once that the rate drops. Besides, it's a possibility that this could be improved in a patch. The game still looks amazing, and I've never known Jared to give a game a great score that didn't deserve it. All "sponsorships" aside, Jared is pretty honest in his reviews.
@lionhardt757 жыл бұрын

ProJared is one of the most critical reviewers I have ever known in my life. He always make sure to grade games as honestly as possible, taking into account every flaw, every touch, every ounce of craftsmanship put into any game. So when he gives any game a perfect ten, YOU SHUT UP AND LISTEN.
@Ryroe7 жыл бұрын
And it is raining tens and perfects and 100s everywhere. You *know* this shit is good.
@nintendopwns117 жыл бұрын
What? Sorry, but that's a bold face lie. He gave Bioshock Infinite a 10/10, and that game was by far the worse in it series. Now I not saying that this case is similar, but saying he is complete honest and unbias is far from the truth.
@VladNorris7 жыл бұрын
Being totally unbiased is impossible(let alone he had his reasons to give Bioshock Infinite such high score...and I fail to see how it's "the worst in the series" just because you say it is...but that's another can of worms) but he's still as fair as one can get(he rarely gets petty scores that either over praise the game or bashes it beyond what it deserves)
@rodrich1827 жыл бұрын
There were games that he gave a good score that I really did not like. So a good reviewer depends on whoever wants to listen to them. I always critized Jared for giving games with some linearity a thumbs down. I like some linearity on my games, and full freedom sometimes is overwhelming and becomes boring. So, I take jareds opinion with a pinch of salt.
@Djinnie0o07 жыл бұрын
He didn't. He ignored the massive framerate drops and still gave it a 10. If he truly was then he would give the game a lower score because of the framerate issues but seeing as Nintendo gets a free pass all the time he didn't take that in account.

I was riding my horse, then a bokoblin on a horse saw me, but it was a little bit behind me, so I shot a bomb arrow at it, but it hit the ground under his horse, so what I got to see was a corpse flying out of an explosion. Doesn't sound to funny, but it was HILARIOUS.

I only got this game recently, and I haven't beaten it yet, but my favorite memory is when I accidentally knocked my horse off a cliff and it died ;-; My actual favorite memory is when I learned to parry, dodge and utilise slow motion in the "Major test of strength" trial. I had spent so long on it, failing over and over again, and after finally learning to perfect these moves not only helped me beat this shrine, but also helped me with the whole game. I used these skills on every fight since. Failure is the best teacher, as this game taught me.

The video is not Sponsored, all opinions are purely his own. He said that at the beginning, and in his Switch Video. He got the console and game for review reasons, which isn't uncommon, especially with big KZbin and Twitch personalities. If he said that, and Nintendo still payed him to give a 10/10, that would be illegal; it's a federal crime and he could get heavily fined or even have his channel shut down if it were found out.

This really does brings back memories before a time of youtube when you buy a game, play, experience it fully, and get stuck for days trying to figure things out. Now in this age of information overload, with all those let's plays and spoilers, a lot of people have just jumped to watch the end without experience the journey. That completely defeats the purpose of the game. So I'm going to wait and play it for myself. I know it will be great.

Speedz Mmmm, not really, I'm all for avoiding spoilers, and I personally don't use the amiibo, but most things people want are exclusive so you can't actually just work to get what you want, plus the weapons can still break and there are better armors and weapons you can get from the real game

Speedz I started using amiibo, because of the exclusive content (Outfit of Time) and didn't realize that the items would op for the beginning, but the amiibo are still cool to use. While they are just a way to get items easily, it's better than the amiibos doing nothing at all.

Just going to leave my two cents here: I had the rare chance to sit down with a friend who just that day bought Loz:BoW and after my own experience see the Review of ProJared. Everything he said resonated with me. It is an experience to be had. In my own opinion it takes some getting used to and it is so different from other Zelda games, but in the end it is a fun experience. Now keep in mind everyone has a different expectation and different taste. However I just want to point out that Nintendo once stated to make an open world Zelda game and then disappointed with Skyward Sword. Breath of the Wild is the game we wanted back then and for any Zelda fan this game is that 10/10. However don't let me put words in your mouth, you still got your own favorite, but this one might be the one that finally overtakes mine. For the non-Zelda fans but for those who do enjoy openworld RPG games this is one you could pick up if you want it more casual. The humor in this game is cracking me up. There are a bunch of mechanics in this game I haven't experienced before and enough customization options to keep it enjoyable. Fair is fair, you can only play as Link, but putting him in some hot chicks outfit makes my day. Have a good day, Y'all!

If a game gets a 10/10, that means it's worth your time and money, it doesn't mean it's perfect. Those who complain about 900p need to suck it up. This isn't Xbox or Playstation who try their hardest at making you throw money at them for a slightly upgraded console each time that only has a little difference in features. If you care about system power, then you need to buy a PC and if you do, then you need to sell all the console stuff you have just for it and if you have a PC, then congrats you made a worthwhile investment. Getting back to topic, Nintendo legitimately focuses on making something new each time, even if it isn't the most popular or the strongest when compared to other stuff. And then we have people are whining about frame rate drops. 1. Nintendo already patched that. 2. Other games like *Witcher 3* and *Skyrim" which are considered amazing, also suffered from frame drops at certain times. And to those people who are legitimately saying "Is it worth $360" are honestly kinda stupid. Not to be rude, but that argument can be made for ANY game in existence.

Nope. The reason the game took so long to develope is in part because they took it apart and then put it back together to try and optimize it for the Switch. My only guess for the frame rate issues is that because they pushed the visual quality to the absolute limit it stutters a bit.
@hugosilva44117 жыл бұрын
The frame rate dies when you are in villages/towns. Mainly in Zora's Domain, the frames just give up when you try to walk around there. In the fields and open areas it runs greatly, just in areas with heavy grass like really dense forests it stutters a bit, nothing compared to what happens when you reach a village, tho.

It's weird to see so many people get mad at this one review for being a review. You know everyone has an opinion on everything. So seeing 10/10 scores shouldn't always be the true resolve for a games content. What people should do is actually play the game. If you have a Wii U, play it on the Wii U. But don't give shit opinions that aren't going to matter until you play the game and look at all of what it has, and then put your own opinion on it.

I could blame everyone for this tbh. But that wouldn't be fair. So I say to people are only saying shit because they haven't experienced the game, to experience it and actually give a more concise and well thought out opinion. The general public has responsibility to not act like a bunch of idiots and say unfactual opinions that won't matter in the long run for the games actual content. I will say that people have the right to criticize Nintendos way of whitelisting specific reviewers that will give mostly positive reviews, but not on the game as a whole.

I think its funny how some people are hating on this game and Jared despite most of them not playing it themselves. People seem to just be hating on it because its a zelda game and in few moments the frames will drop low. The frame rate was never an issue when I played it. If people think that this game's frame rate issues are bad at launch, then I bet they have a pretty bad time with the Witcher and Skyrim when they came out. I found it enjoyable and fun to play, you should definately try it out for yourself if you already have a Wii U, or plan on buying a switch anyways. I'd give it a solid 9/10, but my rating holds no backbone anyways so I'd just say try it out. Also, don't send hate my way until you've tried it for yourself. Half of it in this comment section is nothing but exaggeration anyways. No TL;DR here btw.

The thing that had me worried, and ultimately what Jared didn't really make mention of, is that the things that make Zelda... Zelda don't really seem to be present here. In all 3D Zelda games, story and iconic staples have become what makes these games so beloved. Character development, the green tunic, the Master Sword, things we typically latch onto that make us care about the world seem inexplicably absent. All of these gameplay elements are great, but not at the cost of story. I'm hoping it manages both equally well.
@MugenJin27 жыл бұрын

ActionmanFX If you take away Mario's jump, all the enemies, Peach, Bowser and everything else, and toss him in a death match arena, is it still Mario? New is fine, and BotW looks excellent. The Breakfast Megapowers It looks just as good, abd it seems to have slightly better frame rate. (For now) Who knows, maybe the Wii u version runs a little better because it was developed on it? Or maybe because it renders the game at 720p. All I know, is that you definitely won't be missing out on anything just because you play it on last gen. Hell, even Projared suggested not to buy the switch if you're only interested in playing Breath Of The Wild.
@trippledot18877 жыл бұрын
Swissgar0 No, the Switch version actually runs faster, which is a surprise to me. My friend went to E3 and the Switch party thing and he said that the Switch one runs better. I trust his word, hes a pretty cool dude, but if you have doubts about the FPS, I cant personally say.
@Swissgar07 жыл бұрын
TrippleDot I have the Switch and Wii u version (32gb) I did a frame test, in the same areas, with tall grass and multiple explosions, the switch will drop about 3-5 frames in heavily populated plains with grass, and 8-10 frames for multiple on-screen explosions. My Wii u didn't seem to drop more than 3 for grass, and explosions no more than 5 fps. I dunno if it will be patched (Probably will honestly) But I'm just being honest man. However, load times on Switch are significantly faster, of course evidenced by the fact it runs off of cartridges. So, pros and cons.
@dashdingo-aceit-nixon97387 жыл бұрын
wii u versions has some frame drop in parts but it still runs fine - im playing it for wii u. still amazing.
@mrcyberpunk7 жыл бұрын
yeah I'm annoyed that ProJared didn't compare the versions. You can't just go "oh the games amazing" when you didn't establish if the platform powering it is an important factor in that since a lot of people are going to base buying a switch on how much better it runs on that versus the WiiU. I know he had mentioned this in a previous video but it needed to be brought up here as the review comes across as too much gushing- when really the important thing people wanted to know is "Should I buy a switch"- the answer here is no because if you have a WiiU already the game will be as enjoyable. Only reason to buy a switch is if you didn't already own the WiiU and wanted the game anyway.

I have Ocarina of time on both the N64 and the 3DS (got the 3DS version a month ago) ,Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. I have also tried Windwaker on the gamecube once with my cousin. None of these games grabbed me as much as BotW did, and in none of them was i able to progress smoothly and intuitively without looking up a guide. I don't think they are bad games or anything, just that they are not as good as BotW. The brilliant, sheer genius of game design of BotW is what ultimately hooked me to it,i think. I can honestly find no hard fault with it, when looking at it as a whole. Especially loved the combat, the bow-shooting and slow-time mechanics, mounted combat, etc and also absolutely loved the art-style, it looks so beautiful, i'm simply amazed. For me, it is a true *game* in the most literal sense of the word, since it allows you to play with it truly, with Huryle being a giant playground, with a simplistic yet enough (for me) story of "you are the hero, kill the bad guy." That's all i need. I have gone years since the last time a video game felt so much like... a game. All these other video games have heavy stories, multiple paths/choices, etc which, when coupled with the open-world genre (for me) don't have that good of a result. I will leave my story-heavy games to VNs and true RPGs like KOTOR. I don't want story getting in the way of such a game as BotW. For me, the overall result, is truly a 10/10. Not only the greatest Zelda game, but a great game in general.

after playing some months, i agree. one nitpick i'd like to add is that the variety of monsters and wildlife start to wear a bit thin. i mean, there is still a good amount to fight and hunt, but i think they could have done a bit more with the beastiary. i mean, i'd like to see things like darknuts, like-likes, peahats, dodongos, ghinis and such. i mean, these were zelda staples themselves, and yet they are oddly absent. this game is absolutely fantastic though, and is probably the best zelda game ever made. i can see this become the new formula, with some tweaks.

Started getting open world fatigue at around 50 hour mark and switched focus on the main story. Only problems for me were that the weapons broke too fast. Once my inventory was filled with better stuff than the enemies in the wilds carries around, I lost all desire to waste durability on them. It was really lacking in music department too.

it's a $360 price tag because the switch just came out. So you have to buy the switch for it. Unless you buy the wii u one.

For a real response, I'm pretty invested into it, the voice acting is never bad, but a lot of it is not close to great, but I still think the inclusion of voice acting is really worth it and enhances more than it hurts, it shows great potential for future games

All over the place. Starts in media res, with so much stuff that happened in the past that it doesn't stop feeling weird when NPCs recognize Link from his past epic deeds and atrocious crimes. Overall, not bad.

I'm playing on the Wii U. The framerate issue was fixed when I changed the settings to 1080i. It was on 1080p when I was having relentless issues. Now it's rare that I notice a technical issue. Not sure if this fixed just worked for my tv or not. But hope this helps for you folks.

iirc Ocarina of Time got 10/10 scores too but in hindsight it's not that good of a game. Do you honestly think this game is going to stand the test of time? An honest 10/10 review to me means that it's timeless and will be good forever, i.e. A Link to the Past. I play that game through again every couple of years. I don't foresee playing through Breath of the Wild again and again. But that's just me, I haven't played it (and honestly might skip it for a decade until I can just download the rom and a stable switch emulator without feeling like a thief)

@nicosuj7 жыл бұрын
Dunno, I get your point of a game that is a 10/10 SHOULD be timeless, yet, is something really difficult to evaluate in a short term. Reviewers, with their experience, share what they felt and how it resonated with their previous experiences. I trust that there is still reviewers that still get it right, like Jared, that try to be as objective to make it clear that is not only his gut talking, but a complete vision that he got. In a couple of months, we should see if people still are raving about the game. Skyrim, just crossing half a decade, is still a game that is played today (thanks to the steam workshop, but still). But before you jump to the conclusion that is not a game you would replay, just try it, if you can, and see how it resonates with you, then say if it is worth your time or not. Also, a game can be like a one time experience, like it was the witcher 3, that I replayed it once just because my saves wheren't transfered to the GOTY edition, but I was pretty satisfied with my almost 120 hours of gameplay.

I think giving you everything right from the beginning is one of the reasons I was so bored with this game. There were no interesting quest items that allow me to take on enemies in creative ways, or open up more parts of the world. Instead I was using the same four runes and weapons that all work largely the same, fighting the same five types of enemies, finding the same little Korok seed puzzles and by hour five everything just felt, well, samey. I've never played another open world game, but as a Zelda fan, I was left wanting more.
@jeremywright95115 жыл бұрын
I can understand what you mean. If they added a few more runes and scattered them about the world that would provide incentive to venture out in search of more than just shrines. Acquiring new tools has always been central to the Zelda experience but that was watered down in BotW. I feel like more could have been done to create these "wow this item/discovery is amazing and gamechanging!" moments, however, I personally still feel it to be an excellent game regardless and one of the few games that I genuinely wanted to play for the experience alone. If the next game can provide the classic Zelda feel with the same expansiveness and agency it would be perfection in my eyes. As an aside, if you have still yet to play say, Skyrim, that itself is quite the open world adventure and possibly a good alternative on the switch or otherwise.

This game is perfect , it's the Zelda game we hoped for when N64 was announced and we were still young. True open world 3d Zelda game.
