Shuffling the deck is if you reveal something really bad that you can't avoid with Danger Sense. It can be quite useful albeit very situational.

If you're not playing competitively, that Nebula card seems like an excellent way to get extra benefit out of those "special" bystanders. You get to "rescue" them again, which will trigger the "When your rescue this bystander" effect.

Captain Marvell has two cards that give shards, Channel the Nega-Bands and Cosmic Awareness. I'm just happy to see them go back to older keywords. It makes it much easier to remember what everything does.

Yes, you may want to shuffle the deck if you see a couple Master Strikes or a Scheme Twist coming up (note that these showing up are the trigger for shuffling according to the cards shown).

It also helps with Adam Warlock’s rare, possibly preventing him from being corrupted.

Shuffling the villain deck allows you to shuffle that scheme twist you just revealed so it most likely won't be the next card you draw. Generally speaking, a scheme twist is the worst thing you would want to draw from the villain deck.

Uh, Tom? Contest of Champions is originally from the comics. It was the original Marvel-wide crossover event, I think. I’m pretty sure it predates the first Secret Wars. Way before the video game.

The Dice Tower It’s from 1982, so you’d have to be as old as me (or older) to remember it and you’re not quite that old, Tom. lol. I actually like it better than Secret Wars, mainly because I like the Grandmaster’s motivation. I never really liked the Beyonder much. He just came across as someone who was bored and decided to play a game with the superheroes. There’s a coda to the Contest of Champions in Avengers Annual #16 that I strongly recommend reading as it gives the Contest an even deeper motivation. There was a Contest of Champions II series in 1999, but it’s not really a sequel (except in name) and not worth your time, I feel. I’ve always loved the cosmic side of Marvel. If they put Silver Surfer or Galactus or Thanos or Adam Warlock or one of the Elders of the Universe in a comic, I’m reading it!

Jeremy Bennett I wanted Mantis, personally. I could see Angela might have licensing issues since she wasn’t originally a Marvel character?

@@DarthEd77 Mantis was planned to be in the set I heard, but they decided not to use her as she didn't fit the theme (I'm guessing her abilities or shards). As for Angela, she could be in the game as a playable character. She is in Secret Wars expansion as a villain for Guardians of Knowhere.

And Nebula's "Illusion Device" really looks like it should have the option to take a shard from a villain or mastermind as well, with the bystander effect being only for players. I think I will play that as a house rule...

There are some very bad things that can come out of the villain deck. Dark Phoenix for example can end the game very easily if you are unlucky with the master strikes, so a reshuffle may help, though much less in solo I would imagine. People still care about Legendary?! Yay! The last big/small box expansion I bought, Revelations, really made me think I was finally done with Legendary. The set seemed unconnected, the art was a huge step down (God Quicksilver looked so bad), obscure heroes, the new mechanics I didn't like, just lots of problems. This one looks so much better. Art looks good, great cast of heroes, a celestial villain group, another high level mastermind, and it expands on the GotG which was my favorite small box set! Ah man I think I gotta buy this one. May as well finally get the Thanos playmat too. Dice Tower, why must you do this to my wallet...

Honestly I’m kind of over marvel legendary, really far behind with expansions but I get so bored so I quit buying their expansions, every game goes this way get far behind early then come back and win or barely lose
