I love Secret Wars. One of the best events in recent Marvel history. And a lot of the side stories were also really great. Ruby Summers is Cyclops and Emma Frost's daughter from the future that Bishop is from.

Tom, I know you've said you read your Marvel with the Unlimited service so it might be a few more months until it's all available to you but you should definitely read all 9 issues of the main Secret Wars story. It started off a little wobbly and has some strange pacing but by the end it became one of my favorite Marvel stories of all time. I think F4 fans like you will especially appreciate the resolution of the story. As for this volume, I love it. It is true that the theming is really wonky. I can't tell you how many times a friend looked at me confused about what was happening on a card and I just hand waved it and reminded them that Secret Wars was insane. Aside from that though, the mechanics in this expansion, and the one before it, are top notch! These really elevated Legendary to a neat place. They really ramped up the difficulty. I love how challenging some of the schemes and Masterminds are! Weird theme for sure but a wonderful addition to any Legendary collection, IMO!

Tom, you just aren't realizing the combo potential for Phoenixforce Cyclops (with Soulsword Colossus even), nor the deck thinning the basic SHIELD Agent cards of his ultimate.

I like Volume 2 a lot more than Volume 1. The card effects in Volume 2 are amazing, and Shang-Chi is my new favorite hero. I just love the way he plays!

secret wars was definitely one of my favorite events, purists *gag* will tell you different, but it was a fun epic event! reading the event isnt that hard!

The Circle of Kung Fu (for Danny Rand, or Iron Fist), Silk and Spider Gwen I think are really the only things in here I would ever want. the rest- meh.

I like the art and characters for Silk and Spider Gwen, but all the 2 cost spider heroes really have no strategy. If it comes up, buy it. That's about it because they are all helpful.

I strongly dislike the patrol mechanic. several cards exclusively require a successful patrol in order to gain any benefit and often times they become about as useful as a wound. heroes using patrol don't work well at all against galactus because (if i'm interpreting the rules correctly) the master strikes sit in city spaces and count against patrol. volume one was great, but volume two is easily my least favorite set for my favorite game.

Legendary just isn't for me. Better than DC Deck Building game, but Marvel Legendary still doesn't make much thematic sense either. However, having unlimited replay value is a huge perk.

Oh no, one more reason to be sick with Marvel. Why people can't pick up and invest their time into anything else? because it seems almost any other content provider will make more sense :'(

Why is it when you are reviewing it that you decide whats interesting or not Tom? I really want to know everything about the mechanics and you just skip the cross dimensional wolverine rampage mechanic. As a reviewer you can do what you want of course but having an atitude like that is not even called for. Hey i am Tom and i dont like this so i will not talk about it because its not interesting in my opinion. You explained every mechanic so far, why not explain that one? Doesn't make sense at all.

it is actually an ability from volume 1, and he covers it there. he has a tendency to skim over abilities that were from other expansions. He didn't go into the wall crawl effect in this review because it was from an older set. I get that it is frustrating though.

At least he could say that it was from volume one and to check out his video review on that. That would get Dice Tower videos that are relevant to the one he is talking about more views.
