For those who did not see the tournament live, at this point Garry had lost all his blitz games except for a draw against Grischuk, and although the position on the board in this game wasn't as terrible as in his previous games, he was down to practically no time at all very quickly while Vishy was playing very confidently and rapidly. Vishy still had 2:30 mins left (half his time) when Garry timed out. And Garry's time actually went to 0 when he played fxe4 - the last three moves he played were all after his time ran out. He didn't notice until the arbiter pointed it out. It's possible Vishy noticed but was too nice to say anything.

@@douglasquaid7550 Presumably to help bring more people to follow the grand chess tour, but also I imagine for the love of the game. You don't imagine it will go so badly when you come out of competitive retirement! Kramnik did really poorly as well when he joined the Paris Grand Chess Tour last month but it's worth noting Vishy is doing really well - he's also in the Croatia GTC along with Garry. But perhaps what Garry didn't appreciate is that unlike him, Vishy is very active in current chess, coaching the new GMs coming out of India and participating in exhibitions regularly. If it was someone other than Garry I would say it's not about the wins, it's about the games, but for Garry it is very much about the wins I think lol...

I don't understand why Garry tortures himself by playing these top 30 GMS, he hasn't played active in years... Everyone knows he can't compete anymore, especially not in classical and blitz. Chess isn't like riding a bike, it requires tremendous amounts of work to improve or even stay at the same skill level.

Just for Fun, he knows all of that.
@eragon783 жыл бұрын
@@moabeprusse3234 I still think itd be more enjoyable to watch him play like Rapid or something though. He always runs out of time against these strong GMs in things like bullet or blitz. He never really stands a chance because even if he managed to get a good position, he's still just gonna lose on time. I knew before the game was even over that once I learned it was blitz he was gonna flag.

@@eragon78 was there no increment?
@eragon783 жыл бұрын
@@rjjhh443 I dont believe there was, but im not fully sure. Either way though, the time format is just too fast for someone like Kasparov. He's older now and hasnt kept up with practicing since he's retired so he just needs more time to think. Its why he is constantly losing and flagging or blundering at this speed. Something like Rapid gives him enough time to think and play so he doesnt flag but can still play strong moves so he's at least competative. He's trying to play like he's still 25 and in his prime, but he just isnt that fast anymore. Its not fun when its not good chess but just him blundering or flagging because he's too slow these days. Thats why the longer time formats are more preferable because he can actually play good chess.
@ribbonsofnight3 жыл бұрын
