Went to crater lake August 2019 with some friends. We hiked down, jumped in the freezing water. The views are breathtaking. I had this feeling like something was watching us just some negative vibe. Another Virginian involved in a mystery (In 1975, the year this poor guy died, I was a kid attending Navy Elementary School in Oakton), as Charles McCullar was from Alexandria, VA, where my family lived for one year before we moved into the house in which I was raised, in Oakton, VA. I had heard of this case and it continues to boggle the mind. Since his remains weren't found until a year later, it makes it difficult to know what or who killed Charles, and after that unlucky day, if wild animals snapped off the top half of his body, leaving the other half still in his jeans, which might also explain the skull being found a distance away. I wonder if we will ever know.
@marymorningstar68322 жыл бұрын
Thanks for another great video This is a case covered in the 411 series by David Paulides One of the things that made the disappearance of the young man with the VW such a mystery is the time of year he disappeared . It was said that you could not leave the parking lot that there was 20 feet of snow on the trails so he could never have hiked into the remote area where his remains were found let alone be drug there by some murdering logger And yes his jeans were unbuckled and unzipped and found as if he were standing and dropped his jeans to the ground his socks were still in the bottom of the jeans and there were bone fragments inside the socks I’m so grateful he was found !!this is a case that I will never forget and i am drawn to the mystery and beauty of this amazing wilderness but going alone is probably out I lean more towards something other than human taking him

I was under the impression that “Chuck” was dropped off at Crater Lake from a friend of his. And the friend stated he didn’t think that Chuck was well equipped for the weather. But more importantly his body was found 12 miles off trail. The snow drifts that winter were 15 - 20 ft deep. So no one would had been able to put his body there. Two hikers discovered his backpack & body. They reported to the Park Rangers. The Rangers rode horses in to the area that the hikers described. One of those rangers had worked there at Crater Lake every summer for 20 yrs. he said that when they found his remains that it looked so suspicious that they backed out without disturbing any evidence & they called the FBI. Logger, Chuck, whomever could not have placed him where he was found. That is why this case is so baffling. If I’m wrong on the details that I read, I apologize.
@deathtrance2173 жыл бұрын
I agree with Stephanie, from all the evidence that I have heard and read he went in there so unprepared that the guy giving him the lift thought he was taking a risk. Also I don't know if you have ever seen time lapse photography done on an animal that dies in the wild, but as all the different animals and insects aid in the decomposition, it does seem as if the subject melts. I never have heard of any evidence that would point to foul play. But I'm just going on others research so if this information is wrong I do apologize. Love the channel, keep up the good work.
@marymorningstar68322 жыл бұрын

Great videos. Virginian here as well. I got lost with a couple of friends on Old Rag manny moons ago when 19, had to spend the night in 40 degree weather. Not prepared at all. Luckily we found our way out the next day. Our mistakes-started too late, like noon, weather changed to cold rain and we decided to try to cut off trail switchbacks to get down faster (dumb!), had no map/compass, had matches but they got wet in the rain so no fire . We were in good spirits for most of it but another. night in the cold would have changed that. I now always hike with a Garmin satellite GPS, emergency supplies (fire starter, Mylar sheet, compass, mirror, first aid kit, extra water/energy bars/food) and do extensive planning and weather checks. I know these parks are huge and we don’t want cell towers everywhere, but you would think with the way technology has increased, the government should provide at least the ability to call 911 via satellite or local cell towers when in some of these parks.

I visited the park during one of my trips to North America in July 2005. It is definitely one of the most amazing places in the US. In spite of many other more famous National Parks it is not very crowded so the calm atmosphere is a big plus and it is really worth going there. Comparable with the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument which is also not very known but absolutely astonishing and beautiful. If you have luck there are no other humans at these places. This feeling is hard to describe.

Few, if any, Native Americans witnessed the actual cataclysmic eruption of Mount Mazama and lived to tell the tale. The ash-fall was anywhere from 20 to 250 feet deep in the area around the volcano, there were falls of incandescent pumice and pyroclastic surges that rendered vast areas uninhabitable for decades afterwards. The ash fell in many states and several Canadian provinces. Look at how long it has taken the Mount St. Helens area to recover, so you can imagine how long the area around Mount Mazama took to recover and be fit to live in.

The lady who felt her husband as he died in the plan crash had what most never get to experience. Every so often two people fall in love and that love is so strong it becomes a living thing on its own. So strong others can feel it physically when around these people. That's why she felt his touch one last time that's why she had to write that book to help get through the loss of him. She was lucky imo.

As you were telling the story of Charles McCullar and how his remains were found, I thought perhaps he had been attacked by a bear. However with a quick google, I see that there are only black bear in the area, which aren't typically super aggressive. There are mountain lions, though. Not sure if I caught why foul play seems to be the most likely scenario.

Yes on the calendar Top $20 I have a suggestion... for a video... a little controversial but as you can see I'm a latina and wouldn't mind this topic being discussed in a neutral way but informative... So many of my people and people from all over the world make the treacherous hike from Mexico to the USA. Most hike for days and enter the river without knowing how to swim... All the dangers and so many end up dead. Many hike without proper clothing and shoes or enough food or water. Alsow there is a group of hikes called Angeles del desierto. They hike to find lost immigrants and drop bottle of water There are other groups like the minutemen that find the bottles and make holes. Just a suggestion
@littleredwitch3 жыл бұрын
@Erika Lorca. The minutemen...are you saying that there are some people who search for bottles and make sure that they are empty so that the migrants die of thirst in the desert? What a horrible deed! I would be worried for my soul if I were one of them!
