Hi Jimmy! This video is super helpful! A quick question, I got my albo in December it put out two leaves for me. But since march it just stopped growing, I’m a bit concerned, what could it be? It gets bright indirect sun, enough humidity and water it when it’s almost dry and I’ve fertilized it (not a lot because it grows slower). Thank you!

Hi Jimmy, for the cutting that's rooted, do you recommend laying the the cutting flat on the solid mix and just bury roots or sticking half of the stick inside? thanks

Yes, just put the roots into the soil and the new growth will aim upward regardless of how the cutting was originally grown.

I recently purchased a cutting of Monstera Albo from a nursery which got a big leaf with 30% of white but the new leaf that came out is 95% green (Small baby leaf with no hole) . Does that mean the plant will loose the white?
@iangalang92864 жыл бұрын
Just let it grow out, the variegation tends to have mind of its own. The slob I produced a few leaves that were mostly green to pure green and then the next 10 leaves were heavily variegated. If it produces only green leaves you can try cutting back to the a spot with good variegation and hope it’ll produce a shoot that’ll have more white
@LegendsOfMonstera4 жыл бұрын
Agree you gotta give it some more time and see how the next few leaves go =)

Hi jimmy! I have a segmental and also a marbled monstera albo that came matured with splits (one of them is more than 1metre tall). However, in the last 3 months the newer leaves did not split and look like young leaves, i am wondering if i was doing something wrong... The new leaves r popping out quite healthily with variegation and regularly tho - just without splits

does the plant appear really root bound therefore it has stopped developing? since it's over a meter tall it could have lived in its pot for a while now

If you recently repotted it, the smaller leaves may be telling you it's acclimating. Also giving it something to climb won't hurt.

Hi Jimmy! I had a question. I was wondering, Is there a danger to giving plants too much light? I know there are low light plants that would die under direct sunlight, but could a bright grow light that is not going to have a heat/burning effect on the leaves could damage low light plants. I have read a little about chlorotic leaves, is that a symtop of inadequate light intensity? Curious to know! thank you!
@LegendsOfMonstera4 жыл бұрын
If the leaves aren't burning, you can definitely give it as much light as you want. Some plants will turn pinkish when there's too much light, so I would back off if that happens as well.

How do you keep the white part so healthy? I just bought mine and a week after, the white part started to brown. I don't know if I did something wrong since it's been happy for the past 6 days here in my house.😭 Is browning caused by over/under watering? Or both? How I wish there's a secret formula to keep the white part healthy.
@sunnysnowflake83933 жыл бұрын
The white part actually does nothing for the plant.. the green part is where the chlorophyll forms. The green part is what feeds the plant. So when you have plants with more white than green they’re going to have a hard time growing and producing more leaves and eventually they’ll sacrifice the white part which will turn brown. It’s normal for them to do that. Maybe you need to see what the plant needs so it doesn’t take nutrients from other parts of the plant I hope that helps 😬

Hello - I potted my first monstera albo rooted-in-water cutting yesterday in a soil mix I got somewhere online. It went like this: 65% premium potting mix 20% cactus soil 5 % perlite + orchid bark 10% peat moss But I felt like adding a lot more bark 😂 I wish I'd seen your vid sooner! A question i have is, do you do anything special with the water you give your Monstera? I saw something recently about tap water burning the leaves of Calathea & wondered if it could happen to monstera too..
@justavideodiary4 жыл бұрын
I personally give filtered water to all my tropical plants. They really have been growing better. I also mist them with filtered water only. Also, to note, I live in a place where tab water is really good quality. I just see it as an equivalent of the 'dog is not only for Christmas but for life' attitude, just with plants. If you want the jungle look indoors, you gotta commit :)
@LegendsOfMonstera4 жыл бұрын
I give plain tap water. Cus it's easier and cheaper. ^_^
@justavideodiary4 жыл бұрын
@@LegendsOfMonstera Well, I cheat a wee bit with my filtered water. I got a water filter for my camping before COVID19 and now I can't really use it with all the restrictions on travel. After looking into how much water I'd be using per day and how much the filter can be used for, it turns out I can use it every day for a year before it runs out and I need to buy a new one! So that's £27 per year on filtered water - not too shabby I'd say!
