Carmenere is a good wine to have if it not a super hot wine like the very first one a sampled very recently. It smelled like green bell pepper, jalapeño, and alcohol. I’m in wine school through the WSET and I could not pick up any more notes due to how much alcohol the wine have off on the noise.

Great fun. The Ormes de Pez is about $90 in Moscow. The other three arent available, alas. I'll have to get some on next trip to US. Jay - have you considered doing a tasting of a single producer's wines up the quality ladder? For exampl ethe Juan Gil Monastrell that you tasted about a year ago has a lower cost Honoro Vera sibling for $7, a more expensive blue label bottle for $30, the El Nido labelled Clio for $50 and El Nido for $130. It would be interesting to see whether the quality of one line of wines does increase with price, and if it does, whether value is concentrated at the cheaper or more expensive wines.

"Les" Ormes de Pez is the better wine of the producer. Ormes might be more open and ready to drink for a recently-released 2018. And this is the LIGHT weight Olympics. There are better 2018s for $30-50, but maybe Not for Peter, who likes Classic, Structured, Old World wines.
@ronmcmartin45133 жыл бұрын
@WineKing--Since you gave a Heart, and you like your wine "minerally", I suggest 2018 Marquis D'Alesme(day-LEM, Pessac), probably at $50(I always buy my Bordeaux on 1st Tranche-$39, April 2019) or Haut Bergey(Ber-ZHAY Pessac, $27),. 2018 Cht Meyney, for me, is a better Ste Estephe(more fruit, less tannin) at $40. But, as with All "good" Bordeaux, it can be good on release with 30-60 minutes of decanting, then it closes down for 8-10 years(no smell and tastes like Concrete). Your opinion may vary. My preferences are St Emilion(flamboyant), then Graves(Pessac, minerally) & Margaux(feminine, perfume). Do not like the sour cherry of most St Julien. Pauillac(my favorite) and Pomerol are usually too expensive.
