@@sseltrek1a2b Problem is that being a critic or being honest on Lego flaws might have Lego cut off sending you free stuff to review so reviewers tend to favour the product regardless of it how good/bad it is. Since Tony's feet would be around the Hulkbuster's knees, the should have removed the buildable 43's legs so the torso of the Hulkbuster could have been shorter. But that still doesn't fix that the stomach and chest are supposed to be angled so the arc reactor comes to a point in the center of torso and the front of this is flat.

Very much agree! If they were adamant on that feature, they should have made a slightly smaller version that wouldn't harm the proportions, and included that in the set. But instead we got a deformed set for the sole reason you can spend another €40 on a set and put it somewhere you can''t see it anymore...it just doesn't make sense. As for the shoulder hinges, considering the movement I can somewhat understand the gaps, although should have a look at Gunpla kits te see how they manage to hide those. Since there's no movement whatsoever in the legs, there's just no excuse there for the inaccuracies. This could and should have been much better.

I agree, the ankles, shoulders and belt look terrible, disappointing given the price tag, alot of people probably don't have the smaller ironman to put in it in the first place. Seriously more compact with just the minifig inside would have been fine for me, it's the detail I wanted over the old one. I guess the rebrickable community could fix it, until new plans are available guess I won't be wasting the money.

Great review. Another giant set for the sake of being giant and being torn between being "realistic" and "being a toy" so much that it's bad at being both. The past half a year of these massive oversized sets being pushed out at a rapid rate has really killed my interest in Lego. Ironically the last Lego set I bought was the Lion Knights castle lol. But at least that was SPECIAL celebrating Lego history, and not just big for the sake of being big.

@ShortRound42
@ShortRound42 Жыл бұрын
Any gold elements can raise the price especially if they're gold recolors of elements not usually in gold but it's only one part of it. Add in the light bricks, the glow in the dark tiles, that recolored gold windscreen would cost alot, that new recolored fresnel lens, etc. Not justifying the price but all those things add up. Oh and the printed dome, that definitely cost. Then add in Disney's license, inflation across the board and Lego knowing this is a premium probably tacked on an additional $50 for the collectors that have the disposable income, christmas coming, etc. They all look at their marketing for this. The Infinity Gauntlet they made at a low price to get sales. They looked at cost versus volume of sales and said, keep the price down because we'll make up for it in more sales. Companies do this all the time. Each Lego model has it's own budget and marketing and how they price. It's not a one to one price/piece across the board. That's what we Lego collectors make the mistake of. We think every model has the same budget and marketing put into it. We all forget licensing, advertising for it, etc. All baked into the price.

@@ShortRound42 Name another company with a 30% profit margin. This is extremely rare and shows Lego could easily reduce prices by 10-20% while still being in the double digit profit regime. The material Lego is made of, even metallic pieces, are dirt cheap. License fees are a bit more expensive, but not the reason why Lego is expensive. Its profit margin is. I mean, as long as we are stupid enough to pay them, they can go for it. But out of honesty, we should also mention this when we explain why Lego is so expensive: because they print money with it.
@ShortRound42
@ShortRound42 Жыл бұрын
@@neodym5809 Oh, when you say dirt cheap on materials, remember they gotta' pay for and hire the best designers they can, their benefits, all employees from janitor to senior designer, pay for marketing, advertising, amusement parks, licensing, the manufacturing facilities, maintenance on the machines, insurance for all of it, etc., etc. Like I said before, it's all baked into the price. Why didnt they just make red ronin. Red ronin is a samurai like robot in the marvel universe. In its first apearance it was build by a few japanese people and it was controlled by a kid called robin. It stopped godzilla from setting off nuclear weapons when s.h.i.e.l.d pissed him off. The robot also "helped" godzilla in a 2v3 against some alien kaiju (red ronin got taken out directly, godzilla carried the fight) The kid that controlled red ronin also saved the avengers and the fantastic four in the final comic saving them from godzilla. The avengers where at there most powerful in that comic and godzilla went thru many battles and was realy tired and the he still dominated the fight with ease. Red ronin played a big role in the marvel franchise since then so they really should make red ronin.

I think the very audible sigh sums this set up perfectly: huge potential, but too many gaps and compromises that stop it from being worthy of the UCS title and the price tag. Great video! 👍

I don't mind the gaps, the problem is the body proportions are nasty, the limbs are passable but the core torso and head just ruins it
@cassandrasibley228
@cassandrasibley228 Жыл бұрын
Imo the body should be 2ish studs narrower and the legs probably 2 wider each. That'd help the proportions. They designed it like a toy and not like a real suit of armor that big designed to stop the hulk. It needs to be hella bottom heavy

Idk about yours, but the one we have at the store is extremely flimsy and the pieces in the torso and the waist fall off very easily and are super hard to put back on ☹️

I'm not a Hulkbuster buff, but could the gaps in the design be somewhat intentional? With such a large mech you could feasibly see some of the inner workings as it's moving around and adjusting different plates or coverings. It can be kind of neat to be able to see some of the mechanisms holding it together. This isn't to deny that some gaps look like pretty egregious design flaws of course.

Especially because there already has been this exact hulkbuster as an ucs style model (yes, it was a bit smaller but much better looking) i really dont understand the release of this set. I guess itll be worth for lego if just a few marvel fans will purchase it, so they didnt really care about making a perfect, polished set, which is really sad to see

it is not the first time lego put more than 1 lightbrick in a set, though i can only think of one other set that has 2 lightbricks. lego creator set 5892 only reason i know this is because i am currently searching thru all my bricks to find all the parts needed to reconstruct it. anyway i really enjoy listening to your videos when building so thanks for that man :)

When looking at the screen model the chest is really my only complaint here, the pec panels seem to be too long thus putting the arc reactor farther from the helmet

I would have paid 550 for a proper hulkbuster and been happy to do so. I own so many marvel lego sets- I'm the target audience and I flat out grimaced when I saw it built for the first time.

The gaps are bad. Mech builders will probably have fun modding this. A while ago someone made a Hulkbuster with the intent of scaling with the Hulk fig better. I think I want to build that instead for like $20 of ordered parts

I mean the price tag which I got it for was $800 (off lego) which is very very expensive, but I personally think it’s cool as it’s a set that uses another set and it’s my first big lego set which makes me happier. I reckon that there could be more changes yes! But for the size of the model and making it quite mobile is a bit difficult to make into a basically spot on hulk buster lego model. But yes I do agree with you.

From a far, on video it looks nice. The only thing I really can't stop getting bothered by is the arc reactor placement/chest. It should be higher and makes the body's proportions look weird. Was really hoping to like it but for $700 CAD...plus taxes....noooooo way, I'll buy the old one one eBay 😂

Please show us this model in five years. It would be interesting to see how the darkred pieces last. Do they get brittle in some years. How many parts can you replace after five years… is there still a warranty, if the pieces fall of the model. And what about the many darkred pieces on the titanic… ok. Just my consideration. Keep up the good work. No one mentioned the quality issues…

They should have outsourced the design for this to bandai, got one of their Perfect Grade Gundam people on it. I guarantee you it would have been flawless.
