This touches upon a bigger issue in the world and in every state in the us. I moved from Miami to Lee county in May and I am of Latino descent. I have experienced micro aggressions with racist tones in Leigh High and Cape Coral. I don’t know what it is but they will not befriend you if you are a different race and it experienced it in a teacher and a family. That’s 2 experiences in 3 months. Now, most Cape Coral folks are loving and friendly and there is a very big Puerto Rican community here but it’s still minority compared with the white Americans. I have gone to gatherings where I was the only Latin person and I tried to make friends and the white people will stick together. Not all, but the majority. It’s just their comfort zone. Being from Miami, we all mixed. I had friends that were black, white, hispanic, Asian, middle eastern. I also saw, believe it or not, different microagressions there based on my economic class because I am a single mom and don’t have that much money but I was used to that and I still had and made great friends after 30 years of living there who didn’t care about that and the diversity in Miami made it a bit hard for people to get away with that. But in Lee county it’s a different animal here. Don’t deny the white supremacy here Lee County. Face your demons and deal with it. You have tons of people coming from everywhere to Lee county, from all races so you’re going to have to grow up and get out of your hate and arrogant mindset and realize you are equal in value to everyone else and your life doesn’t matter more than other people because you are white. I was in denial myself of these realities until I moved to Lee County and it reminds me of when I first came to USA in 1986 and experienced racism back then. If people could open their hearts and get off this ego driven colonial stupid mindset. Growing pains will do it. But yeah this lady brings a much bigger issue about how many areas in the South have racism under their skin and need to change to the light.

i wonder if florida will ever change. There are way too many people that are very racist and hostile for no good reason except (preserving their history) especially in the cape coral, fort myers, lehigh acres area. I miss florida but not the people though. Florida has way too much potential as a state to keep living like this. I really hope things change for the better within the next 5-10 years

Oh and hellla exotic beautiful women in miami and orlando but the mental influence of some of the people is like 50 years backwards the more rural (LC) you go which is a big shock when you come from a big city
