Excellent video. Well explained. About the subscribers. I often wonder why top quality channels like yours don't get recognision they deserve, while other channel with a lot of bs and bad photography go over 100K in a heart beat. There are not many people who really understand the indepth info you give them. Anyways, thanks for sharing and a great weekend

Did you keep the UV filter attached as an interstitial planar lens element, pushing your macro lens adapter out further? I wonder how it would look without the UV filter changing the lens group interstitial distances.
@mathphotographerАй бұрын
I kept the UV filter on the lens, protection :)
@sabamacxАй бұрын
@mathphotographer but fixed macro element atop UV filter, instead of directly to lens body?
@mathphotographerАй бұрын
@ Does not make a difference in real life, its ok to mount it on top of the UV filter. Best case you could view the UV filter as a thin extension tube :)

Thank you very much for this great video. I'm still new to the Leica world, I've had my Q3 43 for a month and I think it's brilliant and I'm really enjoying it. I have also watched all your videos about the Q3 and Q3 43. As I also love macro photography, this video came just at the right time. I hadn't heard or seen anything about this additional lens before. Great comparisons, great Lightroom crops. Simply perfect. I will buy the Elpro E52 after watching your video. Keep up the fantastic work. I'm happy to be a subscriber to your channel and look forward to more in the future. Best wishes from Germany!

Very interesting video. I assume that this accessory will work on other cameras and lenses like the Hasselblad X2D and a XCD lenses. Did you use a brush with clarity enhanced in Lightroom to improve sharpness on corners? On the other hand, Hasselblad has just released a new macro 9mm extension tube. From my experience, extension tubes on XCD lenses that have the rear element fixed, with no movement from its original position while focusing, give a poor performance on corners as they get far from the sensor focal plane. Will you test it in the near future? Thank you and wishing your channel raises the amount of subscribers, it's well deserved.

Hey, really good. An excellent presentation, noch einmal. The more presentations I see of yours on the Leica Q3 43 the more I am impressed that this is a pocket X2D + XCD 55V. This macro ability is fascinating and the camera does it so very well. But I have the 120 3.5 close focus for the X2D so I am not sure I will run down this path. Every time I look at one of your videos it costs me money. ;o). Noch einmal, vielen Dank.
@mathphotographerАй бұрын
Oooops - so sorry 😅 Do not want to burn holes in your wallet, honestly. But your comment is spot-on, this new Q3 is just really good and the Elpro makes it even more fungible.
@jakobbogenberger1012Ай бұрын
Great, that is review I was waiting for to decide if the Leica Q3-43 fulfills my needs. It would be much easier and much more precise to measure magnification if one images a ruler! One import parameter I don't find for that combo is the free working distance i.e distance from front of the lens to subject which is important to know for lighting (natural or flash -too close and one fights shading). It is disappointing that there is a significant softness at the edges. With my Hasselblad XCD 45P and an achromatic closeup lens there is very little degradation except the extreme corners. One issue of all Leica cameras is that they have no focus bracketing mode (which works great albeit a little slow with my 907X) and I think nowadays focus stacking (via software) is an essential tool for macro photography

Long ago, there have been two different sets of Elpros: the older VIa, VIb, VIIa and VIIb and the newer Set Elpro 1-4. I used the Leica Elpro 3 with my (analog) Leicaflex SL 2 and the Elmarit-R 2.8/90mm (the third Version 1984-1997) and it delivered always very nice results. Of course for more convenience I had the Leica Makro-Elmarit R 2.8/60mm. Nevertheless I liked to combination of the 90mm Elmarit with the Elpro 3 more. And it was not about sharpness - this was in the Kodachrome-Days - but because of the color-rendering. The 90mm-Elmarit was "warmer" than the Macro-Elmarit, which was a little bit "cold" - corrected more neutral with a tendency to blue. It was a typical Mandler-Lens - designed by Walter Mandler, the one who gave us the 1.0 Noctilux - when nobody cared about pixel, but everything was about the best balance of contrast and colour. 🙂 Thanks for the Video, Math and have a nice Sunday - Greetings from Frankfurt am Main, Andreas
