The s1r is for me a simple camera. Invest in the c modes. I made for the studio a c-mode. Takes me 1 second to setup my camera :) and the tilting screens are perfect when working on tripods or studio pods.

You started with the main difference between the two, I`ve been researching a lot and couldn`t find justification (so far) for spending so much money for the SL2.

I totally agree Carlos. It’s hard to find the reason. The Leica community can’t find a reason to get the cheaper S1R as its philosophy is all the way in contradiction with the Leica DNA. But for those like me who come from the DSLR world, with cameras such as the D850 or the D3X and D3S, the S1R make sens at the beginning. But the more I use the SL2 the more I get familiar with what the Leica DNA is and I take less and less the S1R. I feel it’s far too complicate now. The simplicity of the user interface and the lack of buttons bring you to the essential they say. That’s partially true. As soon as you don’t get surprises in you journey of shooting the Leica is wonderful but it’s when comes the reality that the S1R shines with all the shortcut buttons you have everywhere that can save your photographs where the SL2 is completely lost. But there is this pleasure to use it that only the SL2 brings to me. On one side you have a tool. On the other side you have a sensual tool 🤣 but it’s because I got my SL2 for a real good price that I appreciate it otherwise I would never spend 6000€ in it. I compared it also with the Fuji GFX100S and this one is a real good one with a color science that is representative of the reality. The more I use the SL2 the less I like its color science that is always shitting and not real. I spend hours on my photographs to get the right colors! When I will have finished all my videos I think either I come back to Nikon or I go for the GFX100S if I find one used at a good price.

@@DidierMOULINPhotography I see your point. As a Q2 and CL user, now i`m used and love the simplicity of the system and allows us to focus in the pictures. I`d love an SL2 too but from my reserch I believe the S1-R may have better high ISO performance, do you agree? I`d never do for the GFX system because I have and love my X-T2 and X-T4 and all the lenses I collected. But Leica glass is another level. Perhaps I`ll go for the S1-R and try to costumise the controls as I have in my X-Ts... I don`t intend to use wide angle, for that I use my wonderful Q2, so with 35mm and above, as you said, it should perform well. Thanks a lot, keep up the good work.

@@carlosnunes5717 lower resolution sensors seems to have better high ISO performance but you can’t print large. High definition sensor have same High ISO performance if you downsize the fila and reach the same definition as the other you don’t see the difference… but if you want to keep the high definition and print large, both SL2 and S1R are not very good in high ISO. It’s better keeping them close to the native ISO (SL2 is 50 whereas S1R is 100 base ISO). Yes I agree with the Leica lenses. It’s the reason why I entered this world and the L Mount alliance. Thanks again and keep in touch

The only advantage of the SL over the S1r is the better integration of Leica S (AF! ) and M lenses, and maybe better weather sealing

Sold my S1 and decided to give the system another chance with a used SL2. Almost completely different, much more enjoyable camera, at least for me. Not saying the Leica is worth it, but using a camera is different to just looking up information about it online.
