Hi Ozzy, I like your in depth comments on Leica creations very much! I was hit by the photo virus in the 60ties and never cured of it. Worked with several brands and formats over the years. In the late 80ties I started with Leica M stuff by buying an occ. M6 + S.lux 35mm F1.4 (💎)titanium lens followed later by S.cron 35mm F2.0 asph, 50mm Slux F1,4, 75mm S.lux (💎) all for reasonable prices, But used it rarely. That changed in 2019 by swapping M6 for the M10P. So now the gear went into use very often with stunning results🎉💫 Fabulous results from the 35mm F1.4 and 75mm in termes of bokeh at max apertures I really was dumb struck by the overall quality! I adore Nikon and Hblad/CFV50c but favourite is Leica at the moment, tiny, rugged, utmost reliable and... Beautiful !! 🎉

I used this lens during a demo walk with Leica DC. It is a fantastic lens. Very sharp, very accurate, little to no distortion and if you get close enough to the subject, beautiful separation. Great review!

The best Leica body so far is the M10/M10-P for sure, the Summilux-M 35mm 1.4 FLE (11663) is probably the totem of modern Leica, if you have enough budget and only want to get one Leica lens, that would be this one.

I just bought one of these today, upgrading from a Summarit, so will be interesting to see how this 35mm Summicron ASPH performs especially as you say it brings out the centre of the composition while retaining focus throughout the whole image at higher apertures with minimal distortion

Michael Campbell All Leica M lenses are exceptional. I wouldn’t say you were “upgrading” from a Summarit. The only difference is the max aperture.

I own the summicron 35mm pre-asph (7-element), it's truly an amazing lens. I bought that lens about 4 years ago for $1900 (German made, better quality/material than Canadian ver), but today this lens worth even more (around $2200), Leica lens is really holds value pretty well.

Nice to know this. I use a 50mm and thinking to go to 35mm. I wonder about lining things up in the frame accurately with a 35mm because I cannot with a 50mm. E.g. getting a subject in the background to align with a subject in the foreground or on top, if that makes sense.
