If your copy is not razor sharp at f2 return it. But I doubt you are serious. Maybe at 5.6 it is a hair sharper but in comparison it beats everything else on the market in terms of sharpness (except for the apo).

Oh it is very sharp wide open. I don’t think I was trying to say it wasn’t, I said it becomes even sharper as you stop it down. Cheers 🍻

Great Video! With great sample photos! 👏 I’ve just watched your 35 Nokton Classic review from a few months earlier. I’d be interested, why you switched, as I am thinking about doing exactly the same right now. Or did you keep both, and if so, which for what? Thank you!

Thank you for watching, Michael. I ended up selling the Nokton because I couldn't justify keeping both lenses, even though the Nokton gave me that extra stop of light. I really wanted a Leica lens kit so went with the Summicron 35 and Summilux 50 and so far I have been more than happy with these two lenses. I really couldn't ask for anything more. Having said that, I still stand by what I said about the Nokton being a hell of a great lens at a pretty decent price. I hope this helps. Cheers 🥃

There are so few reviews of this lens. Especially when paired with film. Appreciate your review and the music accompanying the images just kicked ! Thank you. You’re very creative and talented and hopefully you could do more Leica lens reviews.

I have the 35 Lux FLE and love it but I don't like how long it is. Looking for alternatives and was considering the 35 Cron but with the hood on, they are about the same length. Seriously looking at the 35mm F2 from Voightlander.

I haven't tried the Voigtlaner 2.0 but the 1.4 is really nice and compact as well. I keep the hood on my Cron for protection but I also like how it looks with it on, it does add a little extra bulk but it doesn't really bother me.

@@90sPunkRockCovers yea I've owned the 35 nokton like 4 times 🤣. Love the size but now I want something a little sharper. Maybe give the 35 Cron ASPH 1 anothet try. The plastic hood on that was fiddly.

Noticed in your 35 Nokton vid you said you wished it was a Lux or Cron so you got your cron. Nice. Having had the 1.4 on the Nokton, do you miss that on the Cron? Like do you lust for the Lux now that you see the dif in Nokton and Cron? Or would extra oz. and size be deal breaker obviously price aside.
@90sPunkRockCovers
@90sPunkRockCovers 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching both videos. Yes, finally got my wish and got myself the Cron. I would be lying if I said 2.0 is better than a 1.4 aperture, obviously the more light the better. However, as I mentioned on this video, the way I shoot this lens is mostly during the day, it is the perfect walk around lens due to its size and still "fast" aperture. The one lens I always lusted, ever since I knew of Leica many years ago was the 50 Lux which I also now own. I like the look of a 50mm 1.4 lens much more than a 35mm, the compression is just on a different level. So to answer your question, do I lust for a 35 Lux? Not really. Having both the 35 Cron and 50 Lux checks off all my boxes and couldn't be happier with this current lens setup. Cheers 🥃

hey, nice review! have you noticed any loss in sharpness towards the edge at f2 when shot on sl2? since the asph v1 was designed for film, it gave loss in corner sharpness on my sl2-s and did little better on the m9. If asph ii corrected I am willng to upgrade :)
@90sPunkRockCovers
@90sPunkRockCovers 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I really haven't noticed it, this version apparently corrected a lot of the issues the ASPH v1 had, and that could be one of them. I am not a very clinical shooter so I don't pay too much attention to that stuff anyway, Having said all of that, I love this lens and the images it produces.

The v2 silver and black are aluminium, which is lighter. But the v1 silver is brass, while hefty, feels more premium.

Yeah, I guess I was thinking about the barrel of the lens being aluminum. Definitely feels lighter than my 50mm Lux.

I meant to add also is that if you're not going to sell your (anyone) M lenses any time soon & wait 5-10 years you will likely get what you paid for it assuming it is still in good-great condition the way prices go up on Leica M lenses. If you buy brand new & decide 1 month later, you will take a hit most likely.

Yeah, Leica gear holds up value pretty well and some pieces actually go up in value as they get older, like certain things. Guitars are another example, depending on the brand, model, year.

The black one is the same weight on V2 asph…only the V1 asph has weight difference because the silver V1 is made of brass and is heavier
@90sPunkRockCovers
@90sPunkRockCovers 3 жыл бұрын
I haven't hold both side by side but they are listed as 9oz (black version) and 12oz (silver version) respectively on B&H which is why I mentioned that. Marginal difference but worth mentioning.
@kubowich

@@90sPunkRockCovers again, V1 and V2 are different lenses construction-wise. While V1 had both aluminum (black) and brass (silver) versions, V2 is aluminum on both black and silver and is exactly the same weight. 100g (3oz) difference does not seem to be a lot, but after several hours wearing the camera around the neck, it is significant. I am happy I traded brass for alu.
