IMHO the girl actors in this flim, sister and the emperorness, werent that bad. Nor that scene when Bastian brings up one be thing after another to be told no, or the line I mentioned before that's in the trailer. Throw in jack black trying to be good, and that's all that's good about this POS flim. 2 has it faults and such, but is ok sequel to one IMHO and deserves to be paired even if bad. But this is just shit.

@kiraina2510 жыл бұрын
Interestingly enough, in a very real sense *spoilers follow* (tl;dr the book has a really interesting and unique "villain" for the second half, people should go read it!) The villain of a good part of the second half of the original book is actually Bastian, albeit helped somewhat along by Xaide. (Yes, she's actually in the book, but she's much more a bit-part villain at first and then a corruptive influence until suffering death by having no point to being in the story anymore.) Then again it's really hard to make a movie based on the second half of the book anyway because of how the first one ended; we basically jump from the near-middle of the story to the very last chapter, whereas in the book Bastian enters Fantastica and is given AURYN and spends... quite a bit of time there. I still think it'd be kinda neat to see a movie where the villain is actually the *protagonist of the story*, but it'd be really hard to pull off; I doubt there's many filmmakers who could pull it off, and THESE chuckleheads sure as hell couldn't.

Roeg Still, the "Void" would seem the most fitting as both the "Nothing" and the "Emptiness" mean literally a lack of anything at all, like a void. It's just to stay true to the one thing both former villains shared other than both being villains.

When I was a kid I had never watched the original Neverending story or the first sequel. One of my elementary teachers, wanting to entertain us for a couple days played this movie and none of it made sense to me. That's right. Me. Age six. That this was more random than any cartoon I'd ever watched. A week later I wondered if I had really ever watched such a movie at all. .... Much later on I watched the Original NEVERENDING STORY. And I couldn't believe this was the same movie as the piece of * * * * I'd watched as a kid. It couldn't have, because this was {insert the most wonderful comments about what wonderful storytelling, characters, music, and feelings that were included in the original NEVERENDING STORY}. As gentle and good natured as I am....I feel I have to let my heart out at this one..... What on earth is this movie? It depicts nothing like the original, not even the second installment which was a pure continuation of the book as a whole to complete the saga! The characters are wrong in every step that this movie takes.... As for the animatronics such as myself, they ruined it completely, ruined my look and design as well as cut out the fact that as the Nostalgia Critic put mildly in context, that I am a dignified creature, who is optimistic, loving and wise! But this counterpart I named Reginald because he is outrageously stupid! I am always optimistic about facts, but don't get me wrong, I bet Atreyu was glad he wasn't in this film! To suffer the horror of being turned into a no brained warrior who does himself with his own bow and arrow! Engywook the scientist and Urgl the potions master? Since when were they minutely small and also how come they are backwards as well as some! I don't think Engywook himself would believe that is what he materialised into! He was an eccentric who loved the Southern Oracle! And even his wife...yes I did forgive her for placing that sharp needle into my spine but that is not the point. She was a lovable being too, yes she doesn't seem too bad....but she bears no resemblance to her original state in Fantasia as well as her reputation! The Empress and Rockbiter....my my it gets worse from here. Firstly how come the Empress changed face? She was a beautiful ruler of Fantasia, she was a child yes, but one with great talent and power. But they ruined her too. Character with no power, a person with no strength, no flair and no knowledge and furthermore no plan to prevail in these tough times, at least originally she had the plan to defeat the Nothing and we ended up surviving in the end due to her incredible abilities in communications with mankind. Rockbiter, poor thing....he suffered terribly at the hands of who controlled this abomination! Firstly, he looks nothing like I and others know him, he is 1000 feet high on his bike and he is very muscular with his rock body! Here he looks like something out of a comic book. Again no resemblance, and I don't remember him having a wife! Especially one with a.....erm....male accent.....quite extrodinary...And their son....I know in the second edition of our screening he constructed a son, also known as Rockbiter Junior....still even in our book he doesn't exist. Again very poor....I feel sorry for everyone who was embarrassed by our appearance in this movie. As for Bastian? The original disappeared, the second Bastian forgot about us, and the third....I think he prefers playing with a skateboard whilst making his hair look.....I can't say... Still I hope this openess towards the Neverending Story III....helps in ways of thinking of us how we used to be. Love and Luck to you all Falkor (Fuchur) xxxxx

I... must confess that i have never actually watched the Neverending story. I have, however, read the book, and watching these reviews of the movies out of curiosity, I can't help but find myself majorly weirded out. It seems like they took some of the story arcs from the book, split them up, shuffled them around a bit, removed about half of the content and added a lot of nonsensical bullshit to it and then they made three movies out of the results. The fact that my favourite arc seems to be completely absent from the movies does not help. The events also seem to be completely out of order. What scraps there are of the original canon that appears in the third movie, for example, happened somewhere during the events of the first movie. To make it all worse, I seem to see no references to the original book at all anywhere. Not in any of this guy's eviews, and not in any of the comments. Am I the only one who has read the original? Because it was awesome. Even if I can't possibly take any of the movies seriously because of it. No, not even the good one. Also, Atreju had olive-green skin. Just... Just putting that out there.

danaconda2 shame more people don't like episode 2 more than 1. Episode 1, desbite some good scenes, is not a good movie, but its not thee worse star wars as episode 2 is, cuz the latter is pretty much a chick flick and has nothing to offer the SW name (episode 5 imho is weak, but had that father scene it is better than both episode 1 and 2.). Yet all that being said, I think if u need an example that I would say is so bad a flim it's IMHO one of, or thee, wrost ever made, its Rush Hour 3. IMHO, it's even more so than Batman & Robin. That's a fair comparison and I hope less have seen it cuz it sucks!

I've never actually seen any of these movies, but I think the Rock Biter is what did it for me. Just by looking at the comparison of the two; I think I know what movie is better. In the original, he seemed like a large and strong, yet quiet, slow, and peaceful creature. In the 3rd movie, he was a small, obnoxious, loud, annoying, misbehaving, crackhead asshole! The original Rock Biter made me cry tears of joy and wonder. The last one made me cry tears of anger and frustration!

There also was a NeverEnding Story CARTOON. It wasn't great, but it probably had the best Bastian. He was courageous, thoughtful, and mostly likeable, something none of the Bastians in the movies were. And while the Fantasians had their looks from the third film, they retained their personalities from the first.

I had seen all three of the films when I was little, and I always considered the first one to be the best; the second, bearable, but not good, and the third completely forgettable. I read the book when I got to middle school, and I understood why they decided to cover only the first half in the movie. The book essentially contains 3 different character arcs, Bastian (while reading the book), Atreyu (during his journey), and Bastian again (while in Fantasia). Putting all of that into one movie would've been pretty difficult. So, using ideas from the second half of the book in the sequel was completely understandable. It's still a bad movie, but at least I get it. But I can't comprehend why ANYONE thought anybody could ever be entertained by this one. All it seems to be to me is "The Neverending $tory III: E$cape from Fanta$ia"

@trippcory8 жыл бұрын
Even the original script was better than this. 1. Falkor was still kinda smart. Not as much as in the first movie, but he wasn't completely moronic like he is in here. 2. Atreyu was in it, and was left more or less the same as in the first film. And if you're wondering where HE ended up after the wish overload, the answer is Las Vegas. Why? Your guess is as good as mine, but at least was fairly helpful to Bastian in the script. 3. The childlike Empress actually gave Bastian a valid reason for why he couldn't wish the lost Fantasians back after wishing the book away from the Nasties other than just. "No Bastian." It was because the Auryn did not have the power to teleport multiple beings in separate locations at the same time, and therefore he had to get them all back together himself to wish them back into the book properly. Makes more sense than just "No Bastian?" right? 4. Slip's line, "When I get my hands on that slippery weasel, I am gonna rock his world...CUT FROM FINAL VERSION: like an H-Bomb" Kinda funny but probably cut to make it more kid friendly

i remember watching the first two. First was OBVIOUSLY awesome. Second, admittedly i liked it, but as i got older yeah i facepalm from the lag of a lot of it. So when i found out there was a third i was onboard to see..... I immediately regret the decision. not sure what it was more over the other. The iffy to what acting, the weird story , the weird anamatons from the old beloved movies.... or the hair. I mean really.

RaLPhis Xamida why do you likr this film? no judgment just curious
@ralphisxamida85339 жыл бұрын
Raymond Karago I think it is funny and I like the idea that the evil is no big bad villian, but normal people which get a powerfull tool and with it they can not only rule fantasia but the real world, too. I also like the group of fantasians. They are like anti-heros. The naive, the negativ thinking, the positiv thinking etc. With them I feel like I really could be a hero, too. Or if I follow the wrong way I could become a Nasty, too. I can identify myself with both sides. Both are fun to watch and I like the change at the end, that evil persons can change, that it is never to late for the right way. And, like I said, I love the "born to be wild"- part because I think it is a funny unexpectedly scene. But the most reason why I like it is the nostalgia. I watched it as a child and know I remember this time. So does the film has his mistakes? Yes, but which movie doesn't? Do I have my pink glases on, when I watch it? YES, but that'ts not wrong. Is it my all time favourite movie? No, but I like it and from time to time I enjoy it.

Da90sKidShow The first movie held itself up well, and in some ways, surpassed the book. In terms of writing and tone, the book was almost a little "too" child-like most of the time. I like the way "Fantasia" rolls off the tongue better then "Fantastica". I thought Artax's death was more potent in the movie without the "i can't fight it" speech. I'm glad they skipped the failure of Bastian to name her originally. I appreciated the book better with its descriptions of the Nothing and how it affected people in our world. I wished the movie would've extended Falcor's bit while nearly dying to retrieve AURYN, as well as showing it was Atreyu who saved him not the other way around. I think it worked better that the Dad was the neglecting parent in mourning and depression. I also thought the movie neglected the full explanation of AURYN's power, which would've helped in both the first and 2nd movie. What surprised me though? That the novel actually goes on until the end of the "2nd" movie!! Actually that helped explain some things i didn't get in the movie either lol. I SO wish they'd have included Bastian meeting the deadliest creature in Fantasia in the movie. So, all in all, glad to have experienced both, and both have their strengths and weaknesses, so I;d call it a draw :)

I'm just waiting for the eventual reboot. The neverending story... by tim burton. Johnny deep as atreyu, hellena carter as the empress, morgan freeman as the one black guy in fantasia, mama june as the rock biter, the entire cast of jersey shore as the nothing, and whatever 10-14 year old male actor who happens to be popular at the time as bastion. Come watch as modern hollywood does to this timeless classic as the swamps of sadness did to Artex!
