thank you for this review. I wasn't really sure (based on the ads) whether it was (not) hardcoupled to a PC/Usb host. Your demo is worth a song man! Really love the funky percussion and fresh stabs ❤❤🎉

Just received the basically identical "M-VAVE" branded model equivalent that I recently snagged for legitimately just $12 and change off Ebay! I'm not exactly sure the latency is going to be 100% doable with my Roland TD-6v into EZD3, but it will definitely allow me to turn my old 90's 61-key Casio keyboard into a wireless midi controller as well as allow me to control my Fractal FM3 via an additional M-VAVE Chocolate foot pedal wirelessly! Which is a stage ready must IMO, seeing as the Fractal is worth like freakin $2k and on extended lone! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Ha! Thieves always be thieving. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Better safe than sorry. Right?! Ha! I freakin' love your channel Justin! Hope you are happy, safe, and well! 🤓

I'm not exactly sure why you would do that. Also, I don't think it would work. You're trying to connect the midi port from an audio interface to a wireless midi port in the ipad? What would be the purpose of this?

i have just bought it. It look like there is no midi sync function. So you can not send clock sync message in and out.
@demonicsweaters
@demonicsweaters 4 ай бұрын
Hmm, I never tried that. But I would think it shouldn't matter. A MIDI connection is a MIDI connection.
@Keyaar1978
@Keyaar1978 4 ай бұрын
@@demonicsweaters I had a second round. Looks like it can receive the sync. But can not send it. This way i can not send clock from Ableton via "Midi B usb" into my ipad wirelessly. I have tried the pair "Midi B usb" from my pc into "Midi A din" Roland MC-707. Midi note messages works, but no clock neither direction as one them should send the clock signal, but its not working as i mentioned. If i do any mistake i will come back to correct myself.
@Keyaar1978
@Keyaar1978 4 ай бұрын
Ok, udate for everybody who read this. Midi clock works between two devices. To use midi clock between PC and IPAD you need a midi router, soundcard or similar to connect "Midi A din". Then you can connect "Midi B usb" into your ipad. Also works with two pieces of "Midi B usb" between PC and IPAD without any other gear. You have no midi clock sync if you use Korg BLE application to send and receive midi, so if you want to sync ipad with your desktop DAW you definitely need one of the solution mentioned above.

@@demonicsweatersone more quick question. i see a micro usb port on the midi out unit. what is it for? do we need to use that to charge the device or something? or does it get powered directly from the keyboard (korg krome in my case)?

@@demonicsweaters thanks for confirming. From your experience, what is the battery backup like? i am exploring this midi route for the first time so i want to make sure i get it right and dont hate the process later. also, do you know of an alternative that doesn’t require charging and can be powered directly from the keyboard itself (if it is even possible).

The lekato adapter. Do both bits need to be plugged in fir it to work? I will be just sending midi out of master to midi in on a slave device. Bit I want to keep the midi out port of the master free to use for something else.
@demonicsweaters
@demonicsweaters 2 жыл бұрын
I really don't understand your question. If you are sending midi out to something, then you'll need the output connected to the device, if you're receiving midi, you'll need the input connected. If you're doing both, well then you'll obviously need both. I'm not sure how else I can attempt to answer you. I recommend reading up on the basics of MIDI to gain a better understanding of the technology in general.

@@demonicsweaters There are other similar bluetooth midi devices that can get the power from the Midi Out port without needing an internal lithium battery and therefore without needing to charge it. Just plug it in and forget. Some of these devices are the CME master, CME jack and XVive MD1... feel free to check them out. I think what the OP user was asking is if you could try tu use the Lekato that is connected to your drum brain without powering it on, to see if it could work even without its internal battery. Charging these can be a pain, and you can easily forget it on... that's why people are wondering about this.

@@demonicsweaters MIDI carries 5v and 3.3v should you need it. Seeing as USB is also 5v I think a custom cable could be thrown together to power one of these devices from the controller's MIDI out port. Depends on the current requirements, of course. I'll give this a whirl once I get one - this video has helped me *tremendously* in deciding to get one so I can (hopefully) use any MIDI controller with Koala on an old tablet. Thanks, Mr Sweaters!
